Great information. I have studied most of the videos on U tube. Sadly the radio was her doom, at least for landing in the right place. It is possible that she made it too Nikumaroro island, where it said some possible remains of the plane were seen, but never proven. Parts of a shoe, bone fragments, a bottle, are all part of the mystery. I have my own shocking theory. Working on the movie script now. Stay tuned.
My grandfather served on Saipan at the end of WWII. He claimed that even then locals claimed she and Noonan were captured and brought there by the Japanese.
The flight touchdown Was as Amelia said Sandbar... Nunan revised it to "tiny "island, as per atoll description in 1937 He clearly stated NOT ON the map. the Morse code AM PTT CW error correction found, produces only 1 number position set that is valid See Andrew VK5WT website. The position is S 1 DEG 35 min, 59 SEC W 175 DEG, 00 min, 18 SEC. At super low tide I have 100 feedback on ebay, so why would I make it up I studied Marhs sciences at UNI, and a lifetime of Radio including broadcasting, C-QUAM stereo , I restore ww2 radios for my job, The dateline was crossed, sure. The skip zone is a blackout donut. If you read all of the logs you will see that it is Clearly stated that after touchdown, Itasca and Amelia were heard calling each other. Skip zone. No assumptions were made in my error correction tests. No errors were made in the correction process. I checked it 4 times . But for some reason no one except the Amelia Earhart birthplace museum is taking me seriously
Question, the last known position was on 157-337 LOP. There are two 157-337 LOP which one was she referring to? 157-337 is probably based on 67 degrees, there are two 67 degrees and BOTH are located north of Howland Island! A 67 degree compass (magnetic) is located 1.5 degrees (80 miles) north of Howland and a 67 degree true (sunrise) is 11 degrees north of Howland. Which 67 degree is the 157-337 LOP based on?? A 67 degree compass (magnetic) can be linked to the flight. Clarence Williams could have easily given them the wrong directions (76.54 degree true course which is a 67.05 degree compass (magnetic)).
