As nice as Pilla, castellani vests etc are, they do nothing for you, the person behind the gear hits targets, but some good middle of road lenses and job done, nothing funnier than seeings someone in Pilla and castellani missing sitters
Its a mental game. To some its a fashion flex show. I get stared at on ranges. Allen shell box holder, stained cloths, and my 694 with factory chokes. Verus a $14,000 gun, $400 vest, $125/ choke tubes, $800 glasses. But in some minds it makes them better. For me I gotta have a foundation and walls before I install a window.
@@tigea9078 i agree its mental, my point is though too many put far too much thought into their gear, a vest or 900 pound frames do nothing for you but add to doubts when you miss
Thank you for your comment when I was shooting I use the RM glasses but unless you are shooting at the top of the game they are not worth buying as they are very expensive. Thanks for your comment.
@@fullchoke01 exactly !!!! I’ve never heard them rate any beretta yet ! yet yildiz and browning ( funny enough both are affiliated with the Oxford gun company) are exceptional! It’s not like yildiz are used by the best in all shotgun disciplines, the bias is comical 😂
@@andymac6974 yep, has made what 4 videos now on the yildiz sporter, about 6 on yildiz pro, and countless browning, i actually like the yildiz pro but its used car salesman videos i can't deal with
You can go very wrong with just clear view. The whole point of the filtrations is to enhance the clays. I have Deuteranopia (red/green colour blindness), without lenses or with clear lenses, I lose orange or pink clays in grey skies or green back drop. Filtered lenses help me pick up the orange and pink clays I once lost.
I don’t see how anyone hits a single clay without using $700 Pilla shooting glasses. And handicapping oneself with “entry level” Beretta 686 or Browning 525 shotguns is simply inexcusable. Sam Green winning world championships with Brownings is just a fluke.
I’ve watched a lot of his videos and he’s spent more time bragging on Miroku’s and Yildiz than he has expensive guns. And he has dedicated entire videos to affordable equipment. He shoots a Browning himself I believe, and I’ll bet you he’s got some £15 glasses in his shop too.
With certain brands, there is an insert that your optometrist can add/put your prescription into. I have an insert with my prescription in a pair of Rudy Project
I found the shade tgat works for me. Here in Florida its always sunny so i find a black lense works. So i had a set of safety glasses called happy lenses and put my prescription in the safety lenses
I personally wouldn't buy glasses, if I did I'd buy the same as the big man, GD, only because I bought CENS hearing protection because he uses them, and they are superb, I can hear a woody entering Oxfordshire from my hide!!
I have a C-Mask 1 model for 10 years or more. These are very good glasses and at this price there is nothing better. Additional lenses are not expensive.
I’ve been using Xsight glasses this year orange or rose tint. Way more affordable than pilla. I doubt they are as good. But great value for money. Kibworth shooting ground has a display range of lenses so you can try before you buy.
I started using glasses last year and found the purple works well I remember shooting a sim day and when I was shooting I was hitting the clays other people struggled to see and when loading it helped for birds that the gun may of missed I have the bloc ones and it come with purple orange and black I also bought a yellow
Prescription lens inserts and excessive curvature of the frame have proved a problem for me. I’ve been leaning towards the aviator style and having the prescription in the lens itself rather than a separate prescription insert. I think I will forgo having a range of 4/5 colours in favour of one or two lenses that are themselves prescription. Not quite as straightforward as I thought it would be.
Since needing correction, I had been getting by with OTG safety glasses over my prescription, but the double lenses liked to fog in the summer & winter. Got a pair of aviators from Hunter's HD Gold a couple weeks ago and really like them. They are just gold, but the tint varies with lighting. They also have a red which is supposed to make orange really pop, but they won't lighten as much on a cloudy day. If I was in the UK the Edwards aviators look pretty interesting.
I just use $26.00 Home Depot UVA/UVB impact resistant sun glasses. They work for me and I destroy sporting class without issue. They work when I’m upland bird hunting too.
Pilla all the way especially if you need prescription lenses which i noticed you wear so dont understand how you can put a pair of these on and shoot and can see ok and what might work for you wont work for me i have a 5 lens kit from pilla with a purple lens in that kit but i dont think ive ever used it
Australian Olympic Gold medallist, l spoke to at a Gunshow , said that coloured lenses are an absolute waste of hard earned cash & give no benefit. Just a myth to make you look cool. Except for the guy being paid by the sponsor.
I've got a set of Evolution which we OK, but I've recently bought 4 X-Sight lenses. I love the amber ones and the rose diamond - the clarity is superior to the Evolution in my opinion.
When I was shooting some years ago I struggled seeing orange coloured clays against certain shades of green/brown background due to colour blindness (no problem with black ones) After a 12 yr break I’m getting back into it again (hopefully my license will come through relatively quickly, I’ve heard the waiting times are awful) so will try some different colour filters and see if it helps me
Unless you’re shooting in competitions making adjustments in glass tints or chokes just slows up the fun for everyone in your party. Pick whatever suits and stick with it.
Hi there, Completely off topic hope you don't mind. Artillery hold, I know how important that is for rim centre fire and air rifles but have you ever practised this for shotguns ? Regards phil
Does anyone have high myopia finding difficulties on choosing eye protections? I have a quite high -12 and my local optician said the prescription insert might not work for me.
I have several sets of Randolf/Decott lenses, in various colors. The HD purple, downs down the best. All wasted, when my eyes started changing. At over $100 for prescription lenses, I now have one set, color purple.
I had evolution to start me off but wanted to invest in some Pillas. Went to see Ed Lyons and have a set of lenses that are now perfect for my eyes. For the sake of an extra £100, I’d go with Pilla over Castellani as their lense filtrations are based on science, you’re just paying for brand name with Castellani.
You are bang on about the jack pike glasses. I brought a set got my prescription lenses put in the set that sits behind them at a cost of 140 quid. When’s out to shoot mounted the gun couldn’t see anything. The hole centre piece that sits on your nose is totally in the way. A complete waste of money. Love the channel keep it up.
Unfortunately I need to strong glasses and therefore I can’t use prescription insert lenses. But about 90km (I live in Germany near Munich) away there is a great optometrist for glasses and shooting glasses. They use a special Titan frame with switchable glasses. I got myself the pink glasses and paid a little more than 1000€. Maybe in the future I will add more colors to my arsenal. But with my prescription of -6,5 on each eye one set is about 500€ But it is totally worth it 😊
