All the Challenger 2s have a mobility bug relating to there turning performance, it really messes with them and makes them feel a lot slower than they should be. My bug report was accepted and passed to the devs not too long ago, hopefully in a few decades it will be fixed
@@Goddamndan200it’s literally a bug. We are talking neutral steering. It has a slower neutral steer than Cold War tanks. To turn the body of the tank at all it takes twice as long as other modern MBTs, including the first series of Challenger tanks.
@@knowahnosenothing4862No, that SU-25 Missile was above the Iron Fist’s interception elevation. If any munition fires top down, the APS cannot intercept it. That scene made sense.
Really wish Gaijin would give the chally back all of the plates they took from the turret, used to be so fun angling the turret and being able to survive any hit
As somebody who has played a lot of top tier tanks the black night is by far my favourite. I think it’s a combination of how it takes a while to get to the battlefield which means it arrives at just the right time and can outreload almost everything
Outreload almost everything as long as you have a round in your massive 4-piece first stage ammo xD But it's satisfying as hell when i can outreload russian bias
I really hope Britain gets Chally 3 at some point, cause it has a completly new turret (which means better armor) an L55 gun, and dispite it retaining the Chally 2 hull, that means its compatible with its addition armor kits, and some photos appear to have an additional composite screen on the upper front plate. It was also said it would recive APS, and a better engine, and electronics.
Only takes a single 30mm so often really annoying. It doesn't seem right that the Challengers nearly 80 tons doesn't confer twice the armor of a T72 or T80 which are around 40-45 tons as it's nearly twice the weight of them. Where does all that value go? and differential hydrostatic steering! they make it drive like a bulldozer that locks a break on a track instead of moving power to the outside track.
@@knowahnosenothing4862 yes for being so much slower the chally 2 should be tougher as it also doesnt excel with its pen. Then it has something at least
@@damio6865 yeah the challengers are insanely difficult when you are stock but when you get the laser rangefinder your kill rate will (hopefully) go up by a lot
The really nice positive the Challengers get is that 5seconds reload from the first stage ammo rack. It almost makes up for the slow speed. If Gaijin increased the ready rack size or reduced the time to refill the ready rack it would be a much more solid plus to the vehicle that would offset the lower shell pen and lower mobility compared to other top tier MBT.
Gaijin won’t give Challys real attributes like proper armour and their best ammo - they’re too good Not to mention Chobham is highly classified (and let it stay that way)
Challenger 2s have Dorchester an upgraded version of Chobham.😄 Also I agree, please let that info stay classified. Let other nations do the leaking lol
The best thing they could have done to improve the Chally 2 is to give them proper fucking armour, or at least the closest they have to IRL one for balance reasons. Really, this thing is supposed to be the most armoured nato tank ever, but in the game the only thing with normal armour is the last place anyone is going to shoot that tank. I see people saying that Britain can be saved if gaijin releases Chally 3, but they're not going to do that. The Chally 3 hasn't even gone into production irl yet, and adding such an advanced tank means all the other countries have to get their newest and most expensive vehicles as well (T-14 Armata, Panther KF51, ect), which won't happen for a while. I am convinced that gaijin just hates Britain for personal reasons.
Exactly it has almost twice the Mass of the Russian machines but it isn't granted the protection or hydrostatic steering and still pays for it in speed. It's missing 2 parts of what it is.
a few points though: 1. Challenger 2 is NOT the best armored MBT in NATO, its armor is roughly similar to M1A2. Leopard 2 IS the best armored NATO MBT due to its Arrowhead applique armor and 3rd generation composite. 2. Cr2 has some serious real world issues in respect to armor layout and protection, mobility, firepower, optronics etc. The centermass weakspot for example. yes you are not sniping the drivers hatch, but with sovjet era MBT main gun precision, you aim at center mass. guess where the highest propability of the shot landing is... 3. Challenger 3 is NOT a super advanced and revolutionary system that overshadows the competiton. Challenger 3 is just a Challenger 2 upgraded to Leopard 2A7V standards from 2017, so it would play in the same league as a Leo2A7V or M1A2 SEPv3. (except mobility etc)
@@gaijinrecors9396 but it has no real strenghts, its mobility is slightly above average, armor is uneffective at that br, bad turret traverse, meh round with long-ish reload, no thermals. Most of my kills in the khalid are from sniping or flanking, but even then there are mbts that are more effective at both at the same time. It is simpy outclassed by everything it faces, it should go down to 9.0 so at least you dont face t-80b , Leo 2a4, m1
the challenger 2 how it is implemented in the game is a joke... the APS may be the best, but it often in my experience doesn't work against a lot of the Russian stuff like Vikurs, as any good pilot would just shoot 3 missiles at you and completely negate the APS. on top of that, you are the least manoeuvrable, you have awful armour even with the TES package, you have an awful round in both pen and spawling and its SLOW.. like really slow. there are so many ways they could fix it, but choose not to. the engine is the base one (CV12-6A), not any of the later modifications that they made (CV12-7A, CV12-9A), even the Black Night is suppose to have the 9A engine which it does not have... but yet the Russian vehicles get their most modern even not used engines with upgrades, ie, the T72B3 gets a new engine with its ERA package that is barely in any of the vehicles RL on some reports. the thermal netting on the 2F and TES not working sucks as well. why is it there if it doesn't work? IRL its called barracuda and it reduces the thermal signature. the TES reportingly has a commander thermal, according to Bovington tank museum, which it doesn't have in game. and the TES and 2F should have a jamming station on top of them too, that's what the big plate is for, but it doesn't work. the ammo layout inside the vehicle is completely wrong, and has been reported to the dev's and accepted. They could add the L27a2 export rounds, for additional performance. Ironically, the Challenger 2 E, the export version of the vehicle doesn't have the export rounds. The neutral steering needs fixing too. Its far far too sluggish and makes the vehicle slow down immensely, which is not how it should preform and has been reported to the dev's its not even good at hull down... weak roof, and weak breach area... it just sucks. there are SO many things that need fixing, or could be added but they just don't like the British. Britain ain't the only nation who suffer from it either. look at France and Italy. France still need OFL F2 among other things, the round the Leclerc's are suppose to use because OFL F1 was outdated by the time the Leclerc came into service. Italy need a major buff to their Ariete's too, because right now they are the worst MBT's by far. the Abrams still needs its modern rounds too because the SEP is using the M829a1 which is out of date in comparison to the vehicle. my bias opinion now - I'm almost confident that, they just want to keep Russia at the top of the game at this point. no balance. hell, they want to add the T-90m at some point and the files already have parts for it. But hey, there's only so much they can add for Russia right?..
Russian tanks only need a napkin with some worlds written on it to be accepted while nato tans need years of documents just for the two clowns on the bugtracker to say its not reliable source. Russian vehicles will always get top tier stuff because gaijin is russian and they must comply with russian laws.
Preach it. I love the Chally 2's but they are so damn weak. TES should get the Megatron kit with a better engine and the Chally 2's should get a better round if they keep the mobility down.
@@TheBoogeyMan002 i like how i posted this before they added the T-90m. Since i posted it, russia have gained 3 more top tier MBT’s, the t-90m, the t-80U-E1 and the Obj 292, while other nations got maybe 1 or 2. lets not mention the CAS aircraft they gained.
It was only a "beast" fighting insurgents with weapons from the 1970s. It's only recently started to fight a fully mechanized military and it's doing eh.
Still bugs me that the Challengers lack good armor, they are some of the best NATO tank and the fact that this one is called Black Night instead of Black Knight, it has a much nicer ring to it and fits it perfecetly since it's Bri'i'sh oh and don't mind the lack of t cus they drank it, I'll see myself out now.
well, CR2 is quite well armored, but in comparison to Leopard 2 and M1 it really laggs 30 years behind. and the overall layout of armor is a bit... questionable
On longer range maps it’s an amazing tank, very nice optics for both gunner and commander, the APS gets enough time to intercept darts and the turret armor works prettt well if you just move around a bit and wiggle the turret and I find it to be the most survivable in a hull down position out of all the top tiers because it doesn’t need to deal with blowout panels not working since there’s nothing to explode in the turret itself
The British doctrine in Warthunder is that all of our tanks above 7.0 have weak lower plates, however almost impenetrable turrets. this was why the Chieftain was the best top tier tank back in the day, however gaijin hates Britain and has completely shafted all of our tanks. You can see the pain when a Brit leaked classified documents because of how BS Gaijin has made all of the challengers, when it should be the most armoured, (especially turret) tank in game 😒
I just got the Black Night and I really like it. If you play it you have to play slower than with the other tanks but if you‘re skilled with it you can make some awesome plays. The Black Night is a cool tank but I’m also happy that I got the T80UM2 in one of the past events. The faster and „Brainless“ playstile is refreshing if you played 100+ hours in slow tanks.
In real life, there armour on the turret is actually over 800mm in thickness i lived in one of these back in my deployment Why do you keep wiffing right as you shootnyou ruin half your own shots
Now that we have multiple 2010s/2020s vehicles in game, I wonder if they'll add the 2021/22 Challenger 3 technology demonstrator, it would be the last hope for a British competitive top tier MBT
Gajin hates the challengers if they were like how they are irl they would be the best armoured tank in game not to mention the shell should have 800mm of pen
About the armour... in real life it has "secret" armour and has proved in Ukraine that it is the most protected tank in the world. Also, not to mention... worlds longest confirmed kill? Yeah... world's best tank, period!
Call me crazy but i dont why but the british chall does not realy like to spall from german dm53 " leo 2a6 ammo" i shot a chall from the side or at an angle and they dont realy like to spall
They need to remodel the armour maps for the challenger and leclerc family of tanks. Not only is there openly accessible information that such gaps in their armour don't exist, but Gaijin needs to use some common sense. Thinking a nation would spend billions developing a tank with huge flaws in the armour, is just mindless.
Yo, any chance u can take out swedish 10.3 ? really good with strv-121, finnish leo 2a4, cv-ct 105, cv90105, cv9040, lvkv 9040c, AJ-37 for CAS and J-35D for CAP
Of course a British vehicle which is good in real life will be bad in WT. The thing is though, at top tier the stupidity of russian, american and german players will usually negate the benefits their vehicles have over British, French, Japanese etc.
This thing shouldn't be that good but i've had some really good luck in this tank, could just be because it forces you to play a bit safer but I really enjoy this tank
Wow you are a good player. I want to buy the khalid during the sale to grind the beitish. Iam not a great tank player, but thanks to you I learned to listen to enemy tank engines more and now Iam actually pretty decent, got like 2+ kd with most of tanks, which still isnt great like you, but it is better then before. Iam mainly an airplane player
Idk if GB has the weakest top tier rounds the french ones are a fair bit lighter and have marginally better pen with a slower reload than an aced challenger 2
How is that possible when it has nearly twice the mass of a Russian MBT? where are they hiding all that armor in the damage model? This is what shit's me about Gaijin, it feels more like outright sabotage then negligence sometimes.
u suppose ya revisit the chieftain mk10, a few years have passed by the last video you made on that. I personally think they have gotten better even tho their speed is terrible, tank itself aint bad
I agree the challengers really has nothing for it at all extremely horrific mobility,Bad pen,0 armor and almost always a oneshot if hit. Like why would you ever pick this vehicle over any other top tier mbt i only play them cause they look cool.
Usually yes but turms is cheese, almost every round is oneshot and even in the ufp everything pens you. Probably just doesnt suit my playstyle so i kinda hate it. I survive longer in the 2s38. If you are new buy rather the t55am, its much more fun and actually bounces pretty often, and also has a nice lineup
but the turms or 2s38 seems so cool and I am very new to tanks, also when I bought the a10 after few months of sucking at 10.0 I got better, so like wouldn't it be the same for the terms or 2s38@@Hawkeye_Myhawk
the only tank that is even close to meta is the challenger 2E. other than that, they don't have a ready rack with more than 4 rounds though on the chieftain has a worse ammo rack stowage than the challengers and get 17 shots compared to the stupid 4. which if you compare the two, ammo storages almost in the exact same spot as each other. most challengers have no speed. but this could be because I don't exactly have an Ace crew in one and can't utilize the tank to the fullest. but either way no speed. and the turret armor is nonexistent. there are two little 30mm nose blocks on the front of the turret you can send any round through. and just kill it. I really don't think it was modeled correctly, and I'm sure the armor put there in that 30mm is highly inaccurate and is probably composite. but there are only 3 vehicles that I would roughly say are meta in top tier. leopard 2 PSO, cause armor for days, and its turret is nearly invincible. bvm, because the developers think they are the best thing since sliced cheese, and the Japanese boys because no armor and sabots wont shatter, and a 4 second reload so their 1vX capability is incredible. the only thing that is meta from the British tree is their version of the Apache. I've seen people get 10+ kills with just Star streaks.
@@Rorywizz but the leopard tank isn’t english or american it’s german and it’s name is LeOpard 😀 - you have to say the O letter in it, your example was bad though because both sounds the same I just don't know why is it so hard to say it correctly, you guys can literally say even russian names correctly but when it comes to the leopard tank its always lepard. It is just so so weird
@@kerotomas1 I have no idea why you're getting so fussed over how we say things. The word is spelled the same as it is in English, which is how most people say it, and we aren't gonna change that. Maybe I should start butchering the pronunciations of the Panzerfartkumfwagings to piss people like you off even more, instead of just calling them panzers
@@JustinPlaysTVthats an easy one, i like watching your vids :D even if i dont want the vehicle you showcase myself, it can still be fun watching what you can do with it ^^
It's funny how English-speaking people can pronounce Afrikaans correct with the Rooivalk, but no one can say "stridsvagn" properly. Just use Google translate and listen. It's not stridswagen... 🙄🥲
