:( This poor man didn't deserve this. He was just trying to make a better life for his family. I know that there were other priorities at the time but frankly he was another victim of an already horrible thing. His family deserves answers and closure. I can't imagine what they went through and are probably still going through with no answers.
Thank you for sharing. My least favorite murders to hear about are immigrants who came here to support their families or find a better life for themselves. It's SO unfair. This story feels especially unfair because he was potentially killed because of the actions of OTHER foreigners not even related to his nationality.
@@applesaucd My favourite is one where a child sex offender got silenced by the whole town after assaulting some guy's young daughter and thrown into a cornfield. The sheriff knows but simply dismissed the case because he hated the guy too. Another favourite is probably the one where the rapist and killer of an 8-year-old girl got shot dead in court by the deceased child's mother when the judge gave him a sentence that did not measure up to his crime.

My parents are both Polish immigrants and this felt so close to me. My grandfather worked in New York to provide money for his wife and three children in Poland, the oldest being my father. He may not have been a good father or man, but I can respect him going to work all alone in the states. My parents both eventually immigrated to America and met for the first time in Brooklyn. It’s a shame so many murders, especially in that time period, were of immigrants of all kinds.
I'm Polish and this story to feels so close... Many poles go to UK/USA or Germany for work because they ear more there and they send money to their family or they come back after few months with them. Poor guy and it must been a horrible news to them..
What’s crazy to me is that the neighborhood he was murdered in, even though only over 20 years ago, is likely very gentrified now. Brooklyn has changed so much in like 10-15 years. Also I have polish ancestry as well who immigrated to NYC.
My parents both came from Poland and met each other in the US (New Jersey). Today we’re thriving along with our many Polish family friends, but it sucks how some people just get so unlucky when taking a risk traveling to another country. He needs justice.

That's really sad. I remember how violent people were right after the attack. Anyone with a slightly dark skin tone was at risk. The city I lived in had a large Hispanic population and I remember groups of them being attacked and called terrorists. It was so awful.
Really, don’t remember hearing about anything like that. I know people who were Arabic, acted like they were Hispanic, I never heard of Hispanics being targeted. Where did this happen?
@Rabbit I lived in Cobb County, Ga at the time which has a very large Hispanic population. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of racism in this state and the idiots who think that way don't need much provocation. At the time, the Hispanic population was dramatically increasing in that area so the morons (who'd forgotten that their ancestors were also immigrants) didn't care what their nationality was, they attacked them regardless. I imagine there wouldn't be many news stories about it because many of the men were undocumented and were afraid of getting in trouble.
Not really related, but if you were curious: the term/word for working in a different county or just place in general, and sending the money you make back to your family that lives far away is called a "remittance". Thats kinda all i remember from History class last year😅

Reminds me of this poor Sikh man that was murdered just because the guy who killed him thought he was a Muslim. His name was Balbir Singh Sodhi and the store he was killed in was right by my high school.
There’s actually several potential murders that happened in NYC and DC on 9/11, they have not been officially ruled murderers, because they were still doubt as to whether the people could’ve died in the attacks or not. The only reason why this guy was officially ruled a murder is because his wife and sister specifically knew he was fine after the attacks and that he was headed away from the attack site into Brooklyn. Sneha Phillip is a notable example, it’s possible that her husband murdered her on 9/11, but because they lived in lower Manhattan close to the site of the attacks it has never been officially ruled one way or the other.
The 11th of September... Not the 9th. I'm guessing this mistake came from the way we write our dates (9/11 in the US is September 11th, not the 9th of November).
Belive it or not, back then my mother was a student studying there and didn't know english. she likes to turn on the news and radios to listen to English, and one day her and her roommate turned on the radio and saw a bunch of people screaming and running and my mom got confused and she went outside and ppl where talking to her when she didn't understand. Luckily her roommate understood and they both escaped to safety. Her building was so close to the attack.

No she means legally registered murders on the exact day. Obviously those people were murdered but there’s no way they could’ve all been identified and documented in less than a day

As they never found the killer they never found the motive. The assumed motive is a guess heavily informed by the guessers political stance. If you asked a different person you would have likely got a different politically charged opinion on something they also have no evidence of. The area he died in most certainly wasn't an anglosaxon area though. Likelihood it was gang violence, not-directly tied to race. Roughly during the early 00's the cartels and black drug gangs were fighting for dominance in NY.

Such a shame that people are seen as worse cause of an accent. Whoever killed him doesn’t deserve their freedom and hopefully are caught. Assuming someone was linked to those attacks cause they have an accent is crazy. Some people view all muslims as terrorists because they see the religion and dont understand any of the distinctions. Its ridiculous to get angry at a muslim from Turkey over a terrorist attack caused by a muslim from the middle east, those are completely different areas with massively different cultures. And even if they were from middle east, its not like every middle eastern muslim has personal relations with osama bin laden or something.
