I have the Sony TV Zoom 12.5-50mm f1.8 in addition to that lens. I use it on MFT cameras and crop in. I find the 12.5-50mm version sharper across the board. 🤔
TV lenses are not Super 16 lenses. Your Sony 12.5-75 mm f/1.8 TV zoom lens is a 2/3-inch format lens, which means it has an 11 mm image circle diameter. It won't cover Super 16, at least not across the entire zoom range. The Canon V10x15 15-150 mm f/2.8 TV zoom lens is a 1-inch format lens, which has a 16 mm image circle diameter. 1-inch TV lenses cover Super 16. Your Sony lens, model number VCL-1206, was sold with black and white Sony TV cameras, models RSC-1010, RSC-1050, AVC-3000CE, AVC-3420CE, and other AVC-3000 series cameras, in the 1970s to the early 1980s. It's a small and cheap lens for non-broadcast uses. Other TV lenses are much better. B4 lenses are made for 3-CCD cameras. If your camera only has a single sensor, you either need a special converter with optics in it to emulate a 3-CCD camera's beam splitting prism, or you can use a simple adapter with no optics and stop the lens way down. Otherwise there will be significant haze and longitudinal chromatic aberration. C-mount lenses mostly don't have this problem, as most are meant for single-sensor cameras.
Will this lens work with a Lumix Gh4, I bought a C-mount CCTV lens (Rainbow 8-48mm 1:10) but its way too blurry and I was wondering if the lens in this video will work with it?
Hey Caleb! I’m wondering if you ever got around to testing and using the Canon 15-150mm and had test footage with that and comments about your experience using it?
Hey Paul! Funny you mention that, I was just thinking about testing out that lens and making a video on it a few days ago. I just finished up one video that’ll be out Tuesday and have another in the works so may take a bit but still interested in making that video
Most of these lenses are parfocal but if the flange distance is off then they don’t work as parfocal lenses and since C mount is a bit shorter than RF I haven’t had one that has worked as parfocal yet. The B4 mount TV Zoom lenses will work great though
The b4 adapter I ordered is still being shipped but I’ll let you know how well it works just so you don’t have to spend some money in the hopes it works. It should work fine though
