Sarah Absolutely. Plan a whole day there. You can do a boat tour or a waterfall & beach. Since you're probably doing the boat tour in El Nido we'd recommend renting a scooter and hitting the white sand beach and waterfall. Both can be done in a day!

Best video I've found on El Nido. Thank you so much for answering all my questions about getting sick through the ice/water, wifi, what to do, etc. I just want to know. Do you know if getting a sim card for a local carrier is a good option to avoid super slow internet? I've read it's better, but nothing like one would be used to in say Tokyo. One final question, for your Tour, did you book online or at a local shop once you were there?
@IntAffair

Thank you! Not sure about the sim card option since we primarily used wifi and downloaded things in advance. We booked through Doris while we were there. Check out 4:02 to find out more. Her contact info is below in the video description 😃

I wouldn't suggest going there in August, as it is the southwest monsoon season in the Philippines and Palawan usually suffers the brunt of that. March to early Junes is the best time to go.

@IntAffair
@IntAffair 6 лет назад
Hey Oliviero! Palawan is large. Give yourself as much time as possible there! At least 1-2 months, if not more. We can't tell you an exact amount to spend because everyone is different but you can get an idea of how much things cost based on our daily price breakdowns on our other videos. Safe travels and let us know if you have any other questions we can try to help with!

Richy Schumann Haha, no! Don't let them scare you with all the "maybes". We were quoted around $700 for that particular shot (each). We got some $5 mosquito repellent lotion and that has done the trick now for multiple trips to SE Asia. Stick with repellent, when needed, and you should be good to go!

Nice video but you didn't mention the overcrowding? I hear its very overcrowded? Would be good to get a view of that in your video. Regarding the internet. In Port Barton using a mobile data connection didn't help, I think there are just too many people in one small place and the networks cant cope. I found if you waited 'til after people went to bed you could use the internet again.

ROFL, I live in Palawan. This is actually one of the most misinformed travel videos I’ve seen. I had to watch the whole thing just because I couldn’t believe the information they were trying to sell. I won’t see which one, but one of the people they recommended, was in fact recently arrested for practicing business without a license. Not the kind of people you want to lead unsuspecting foreigners to.

@@SerendipityPoint if you are going to make a statement like this, at least explain why it's so misinformed. The way they made the video and gave all sorts of info in a structured manner made me think it was a great video. They don't live there and were only passing by so you can forgive them for not being completely accurate. If the info is wrong then please explain for other people who may be watching and considering their advice.
@SerendipityPoint
@SerendipityPoint 2 года назад
@@mauriciojulianramosdiaz4213 THE REASON why I made my comment without naming SPECIFIC BUSINESSES, is because I myself am a resident in Palawan. You may be uneducated about the culture and values of the people of Palawan, or the Philippines for that matter, but one thing we do is RESPECT ONE ANOTHER. Yes, in the United States, backstabbing and pointing fingers at one another with evil intent is perhaps an acceptable behavior. But here in Palawan, WE DON'T DO THAT. Even if the guy who cuts lumber for my resort got caught and arrested for dealing drugs (true example), WE DO NOT GOSSIP or direct focus upon their misfortune or bad choices. Does that make any sense to you? Can you grasp a cultural value that, although disagreeing with bad information, we prefer to not EXPLOIT or join the condemnation train, as other nations might be prone to in their values. So please, if you're going to step on the shoulders of a nation or region to gain internet fame for yourself, LEARN TO ACCEPT THE VALUES OF THAT REGION YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. It's basic respect. O.k.?

I loooove this no BS guide, it is very informative. If you get the chance, may I suggest Sagada? (Rice terraces, waterfalls, spelunking, Igorot culture) Or something about Cebu->Bohol(Chocolate Hills, Tarsier, Panglao)-> Dumaguete(Apo Island, Manjuyod Sandbar)-> Siquijor? You can easily get between these islands in central Philippines for a fair price.

Its cheaper to fly from Clark International Airport, it will save you half of the fare compared to flying out of Manila with Airswift. I checked the rate flying in to Puerto Princessa and its more expensive than direct El Nido flights from Clark. You can hit two birds in one stone, tour around Pampanga at the same time and enjoy some kapampangan food. I just booked for next month 😊 also for booking tours and transport its worth looking at Klook. I got tour A for just 895 pesos from 1200 😊 see you soon El Nido!

Local here if you hit up Lio Estate which has free shuttles from downtown and its where locals go to get away from the busy downtown area. In the Lio area, the internet is fast there and speeds run around 20 mbps. The free wifi is good for an hour at the estate but if you have mobile data on Globe its super fast. Tambok's nearby is a new filipino eatery which also has fast wifi.

I literally just got back from the Philippines yesterday and we did stay at one of the newer hotels at Lio beach. It's certainly cleaner, quieter, and more low key, but the on-premise restaurants are pricey and the shuttles fill up really fast. We had to get there at least 30min early to even get on. Also the BPI ATM (the only one in the whole area) didn't give us cash, yet deducted from our bank accounts and several other western tourists had the same issue. We had to fill out tons of forms at a BPI branch in Manila to dispute the issue, as well as my bank at home. Also Chinese tourists are everywhere and they're kinda loud and rude. Certainly a cultural difference, but fairly accurate.

I went to El Nido about five + years ago and they were still constructing the concrete road. I was a bit worried once it had been completed the tranquility would be ruined. It looks the same as I remember so that's good. The cafe I went to upstairs near the boats had to turn on power for a limited time so you could use the internet. Of course you had to buy a drink there as well. Booking ahead is essential in peak periods. I had to stay down the road as all cheap places were booked out in town.

Awesome video! I watched it weeks ago before going there and just got back yesterday. Very accurate and useful info. We had a group of 8 so hiring vans for all trips, even Nacpan beach made sense. We stayed at Lio beach - just north of El Nido town and right next to that small airport. It was a very new, clean, good wifi, and quiet area, with an hourly shuttle to the town, but probably not the cheapest. I couldn't fly my drone there because of the airport. I will say that we researched flying into Coron and taking the ferry over or flying directly into Elnido via that small airport and it was actually quite reasonable when you consider the cost and time of driving from Puerto Princessa. I would totally do that next time. Tour A was awesome and I got some great aerial footage, but also so sunburnt that I just couldn't do tour C. You're probably right in that it all looks the same... At least that's what I tell myself LOL...

I haven't been to El Nido yet, ... about to go though, and hence the reason I am watching this vid... I just wanted to chip in that in my experience traveling throughout other remote islands of the Philippines, I have had success just using my phone service and using the phone hotspot for my laptop. If you use Smart you can text 'GIGA50' to phone number 9999 and get pretty good data for 3 days, and if you run out, just text it again. GIGA50 means 50 pesos, I think ($1). I was in Siargao and did this to watch some sporting events on my computer via the phone hotspot. It's also faster than most wifi's you will come across. Hope that helps anyone. Anyways... thanks Int Affair for this video... I feel like I've got a heads up before heading to El Nido now.

NEVER AGAIN, went there with 16 members of my family, 14 of us end up in hospital, there is no proper water system , too crowded, too commercialized, DIRTY PLACE... the island hopping? would you believe, , there is no toilet in those island, we were ask to shit in the water whilst on board the boat... i wish the president of the philippines will shut this place down like he did with boracay.. the place is being run by greedy people disregarding the safety of the tourist and protection of the environment

I rented a car and drove 3 hours but my cousins weren’t use to me driving in the mountains I’m use to driving in the north ga mountains. Lol left in the middle of the night my wife felt sick and also got robbed by the workers at the hotel. In any case spend $30 at Astoria since I thought it was fun to include my Family members 😆 no doctors at night there only 5 pharmacy. Take shots for amoeba either that or some hotels will try to poison you. Also someone let the air out of our tires. Next time I’m bringing my, gangster cousins since there’s almost no law there. It’s the the hotel with an old kawasaki ninja parked in front of it. They’re scammers. Fun islands and trips won’t go back there though.

You forgot Lio Beach ! You can take the FREE shuttle bus transfer from the corner Calle Reall and Osmena street. The Beach is beautifull, not crowded with many good restaurants. There is an airport nearby so you can see how planes take off and land.

No way would I take one of the suicide vans. Much more comfortable and safer in the A/C bus like Cherry bus. Plenty of leg room and only takes about 6 to 7 hours.

You were "lucky" you departed from Corong Corong. They leave way earlier than from the port because you avoid the massive traffic jam there and are likely to see the lagoons without many other people - unless your boat wastes too much time at 7 Commanders

Yeah, it took us about ten hours by van from Puerto. Then after a couple of weeks we flew out to Manila. I'd say this was about 8 to ten years ago, best time of my life.

I notice that visitors need to seek activities and restaurants constantly. Where's the relaxation and when do you absorbe the culture. You traveled half way around the world to do what you could do closer to home.

Great tips as I was just there and did all that stuff. I would like to add 2 notes, you comments were spot on about internet so book a way out before you get to the Island. I learnt that the hard way. Also, I packed 1L of water on my tour A. It wasn't enough. I ended up with the worst case of sunstroke and got very sick. I highly recommend the tour. Glad to see you guys are still going!

Jarret V Great tips! It was partially rainy/cloudy for the beginning of our tour so we didn't need as much water. Still, never underestimate the heat...!

Really stupid way to go from Puerto Princessa by motorbike. The best way plain to El Nido (ENI) 3-7000PHP.. If you can not afford it better stay at home :)))
