As always, it’s great to see another video from you! In the early years of my marriage, the words “you should have” came from my mouth far too many times. Now, I have nothing but appreciation for the efforts of my wife when she dives into a project, even if her idea is different from mine. Seeing the two of you working together towards a goal even if it’s in different parts of the homestead, is wonderful. Obviously, you learned early what so many have yet to figure out and it’s bound to continue to grow stronger as you go. As a great example, keep letting the Light shine and know that there are many who need to see your faith, your happiness, your determination, your will to work as needed and surely, your success!

Symone you are a natural in front of the camera speaking about your little projects.What is endearing to me personally, is that I have a son and daughter in your age group also college educated but not anywhere near as mature and focused as you two are!. I know you are tad self conscious only because I’m sensitive but regardless of that you are poised and articulate and just yourself and your accent is charming and just you. Gerald is also clearly knowledgeable about his garden and steadfast in his faith and to see a young man with those two very positive images on TV (that’s where I watch you guys) is a joy to this Mom. So you are sharing your story and your journey and it’s a very compelling one. Never feel that you have to force anything for our benefit…as I said most of us watching you were drawn in by your story and your natural-ness! So since you asked Whatever the spirit moves you to share is fine…Loved the first juice one. The struggle was real but the faith was strong and you guys hung in there and still kept your sense of humor in tact. I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud with your antics. Keep the faith that video that took off, the thumbnail is what made me click, but it was you Guys that made me sub and then binge watch! Just be yourselves we like you guys…No pressure.

I know nothing about gardening, but, on a tv program, homestead rescue, they sometimes use the cardboard and branches as well as the leaves in the garden beds. Just a thought. I’m new to your channel, and I hope to see all your past videos and your continued and future success. May God and the angels keep you focused and happy.

We have tons of access to leaves, compost and woodchips so we don’t really have much need for all of the excess cardboard. It definitely is a great initial weed barrier though!

This is true … it saves money on the amount of soil needed and as the branches and leaves decompose it adds nutrients.

That compost/soil looks so rich and healthy. It's going to be great for your garden. I totally agree with you about worm castings. It's the best compost you can make/buy. Mushroom compost is good too. Simone got the garage looking good!

I tend to keep the good, sturdy cardboard for the garden rather than burning it. It's great for killing weeds and grass for an above-ground garden.

And I thought it was just us that use the garage as a dumping ground! Apparently not. Nice to know we're not alone. Seems the garage catches all the extra and stuff on its way to the garbage. But somehow, it always cleans up nicely. You guys are doing great! Keep up the great work, and keeping God at the center of it all. He invented marriage and placed our first parents in a garden home. Building a homestead is a day-to-day job it never stops. Y'alls is coming along BEAUTIFULLY. We have cows, sheep, and goats on ours. We have a little over 200 acres, and it keeps us busy on top of running a small business. We are always working on fence to keep them in and keeping prey out. Investing in guard dogs like Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherds were great additions to keeping them safe. And yes, the leaves and manure make AWESOME compost for bait beds and gardening. My husband wants to do a vegetable garden this spring so we'll be doing that and I'm big on flowers and Zinnias are my absolute favorite wildflower next to black-eyed Susan's. My new project is doing a landscaping of yellow and orange roses along the road up to the house. It will be Hella expensive so I will attempt to do it myself 😊 wish me luck. Also looking forward to doing a lot of fishing when it gets a little warmer we have 2 very nice ponds also. Thanks for sharing your journey. It's very special to see you following God's lead and inviting us in for the ride.

Another idea, I don’t know if you cover your firewood to protect it from the weather, if you don’t, a tarp will save it. Stake it down so the wind can’t blow it and you’re in good shape.

Do you guys compost? Any organic matter - cardboard, leaves, cotton clothing, food scraps. Composting on your property will reduce the amount of bought inputs for your garden and reduce pollution from the fires

Put your patio furniture and cushions in the garage or shed. The cushions will be all dirty and moldy by spring. Keep it and spend your money or something else you need or want.

Your soil is gorgeous! We have a long way to go to get our glacial till to look like yours and Paul G's, and all those Sequim Potatoes (rocks)! Have you heard of Lean Farming?
