Project : The open Penthouse
Location : Bangalore
SIze: 3100 sq feet
The apartment has an open floor plan with a huge living room. We preferred to leave the floor space undisturbed without any addition in the likes of wall partition. However, we visually broke down the space by adding wooden rafters to the ceiling for the living area which precisely divides the living and dining area. Architecturally speaking, they add a bounty of visual interest to the space. The furniture layout has also played a huge part in breaking down the space into different sections.
We intended to keep the design style organic with more of a lived in feel to the space. Hence, we mixed a lot of styles to achieve the eclectic look. For instance, while the black credenza with the brass stand at the entrance adds a modern touch, accent chairs in the living room add a midcentury mood to the space. Coming to the master bedroom, we placed a traditional chest of drawers and a modern floor lamp next to it. The juxtaposition of contrasting styles makes the space far more interesting than going for a singular design style.
