agree with most of what you say as I have the same car,same colour, you can switch the lane keep assist off to make a more comfortable drive, although this has to be done each time you start the car, my main grip is range in cold weather, I had 52 miles left on saturday but when I came to use it on tuesday it had dropped to 31, then a one mile round trip and it had dropped to 25 miles, outside temp was -1, put it on to max charge last night at 9PM this morning the range was only 136 using a 7KW charger but the temp overnight was -4, another gripe is no rear wiper, but Ora are not alone in this, but the rear window does get messy
Cold weather really does hit battery life. I’ve found that with all of the EVs I’ve owned. Shame switching off LKA isn’t a permanent option. I’m interested to see the 4 door saloon Ora coming out soon.
In Australia, the camera facing the driver seems to be permanently off and it is possible to pick what level lane assist one wants. I find the lane assist very good, almost as good as the MG ZS EV Mk1 though with the Mk1 you can switch the lane keep assist on and off with a button on the indicator stalk. The indicator stalk is fiddly and you are not the first reviewer to comment about this. I have driven my car for 52 hours now and still occasionally get tangled up. My wife would not have let me buy the car if she had heard the pinky ponk noise the indicator makes. A larger boot would be nice. One thing you need to get used to is how far back the rear wheels are, for a while I kept clipping kerbs with the rear wheel. The rear wheel position coupled with the large turning circle does make it difficult in car parks unless backing into the park though the car rides really well on the road. Overall, in Australia, where the car sells for A$39K plus on road costs, the car is very well made and I expect it to be very reliable. The rear radar/emergency stop is excellent and the 360 degree cameras are good though can suffer in poor light and the screen is small for the task. Here, it is up against the MG4 and BYD Dolphin but the base model Good Cat is fully equipped (which the base MG4 is not) and has good power (which the base Dolphin lacks). But it makes good sense if one wants something that is small, funky, beautiful two-tone interior and well made. The driver visibility is excellent and the heating/cooling system seems able to cope well with extremes of temperature though the lack of a fan control button is annoying. The more I drive the Good Cat, the more I appreciate it, but it is not a car that "fits" as soon as you get in it.
Glad you’re enjoying it. I liked the car on the test drive but it was just a bit too small for our needs. I’m looking forward to trying the new Ora that is slightly larger (saloon) in march/april.
Thanks! I think the design is awesome. The interior has some really nice touches, whilst it does take inspiration from other marques, they do work together.
I’m not convinced on the styling, as you say, there’s Mini, Porsche, Fiat 500, Beetle all in the mix. As for anyone naming their car ‘Funky’ is like me putting ‘Cool’ as my middle name. If I was cool, I wouldn’t have to put it there in the first place!
In Australia, it is just called the Ora, and they are only importing one colour (turquoise) with a two-tone interior. I like the idea of a car that does not look as though it is going to shred pedestrians or as though it is going at a hundred miles an hour when it is parked. I think they have their marketing all wrong here with the humdrum name and all-black interiors. They are up against the MG4 and BYD Dolphin and the MG4 is a more serious, drivers', car and the BYD looks homely. The retro styling and colourful interior and funky name should be used to sell the car as a second, stylish, city run-about. @@Project40Cars
Better suspension, so it will be more comfortable than a 3 or Y. It's a lot slower, but at least the windscreen wipers work when you expect them too. When I had a model 3 performance the wipers had a mind of their own.
