THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED VIDEO! It’s just a positive review for once lol. I don’t think the ordinary would approve this intro 😂 of you know me, you know every sponsored video is labelled correctly and I always state at the very beginning of a video of the video is sponsored. I never try to hide sponsorships for weird reasons, the law requires me to clearly disclose. If you don’t know this about me by now, then you aren’t paying attention!

It's nice to see an established brand (especially an affordable one like The Ordinary) putting out new products that are actually good and new (not just slightly reformulated old items in new packaging).

so true. I went in to Ulta a while back and saw what I thought was a new peptide serum, grabbed it and when I got home found out that I just purchased something that I already have. Buffet with a new name. oh well..I'm using it now. I would really like to have the money back to buy the new NMF/beta glucan or the foaming glucoside cleanser. I wish they would give out samples of the newer products.

I have definitely never used a facial cleanser on my babies. When they’re newborns you want to stay away from pretty much all products as their skin literally needs to adjust to just being in air. But later on a simple all-over baby wash in their bath is good. Lately I’ve seen ads for a new line of kids’ products to “help your child develop their own skin care routine.” Unnecessary! Sunscreen is really the only skincare kids need imo.

To answer the baby question: Whole baby - maybe once or twice a week plus diaper blow outs, what's inside the diaper preferably after every poop, rinsing with lukewarm water and washing by hand with a gentle cleanser is better for the skin and babies usually tolerate it better than wipes (seriously why do we snub facial wipes because they don't clean well and irritate the skin and then use it for the most delicate part of baby's body where the skin is already being irritated by a non-breathable cover 24/7 plus constant wetness plus poop?).

For a while, babies only need a bath every 2-3 days with baby soap but it's not really necessary. Once they're a little older and getting into stuff, they need a bath a little more often but still, just baby soap. You can wipe your baby's face when they've made a huge mess eating but again, you're not going to use a face cleanser lol. That's so ridiculous but I'm sure there's people on TikTok making videos about all the different crap they use on them. Chunky babies need their rolls cleaned regularly, especially the neck rolls. In my opinion, babies are expensive, don't spend more than you need to by buying fancy products they don't give a shit about 😂

Hi. I have extremely oily, sensitive and acne prone skin, I've been using ordinary products for 6 months and my skin its amazing, better than ever, I feel that if you dont know much about skincare ingredients and products it can be overwhelming but the products are amazing if you use them correctly and know your skin type, the price its unmatched. I've used all brands from pharmacy and supermarkets and I'm sticking with ordinary. I most say that somedays I forget or am too tired for the all skincare process and just cleanse and mosturise and its okay. FIY: I use the gloycolipid cleanser, the glycolic acid 7%, niacinamide + zinc, the vitamin c 23%, retinol 5% and the natural moisturising factors, I don't have their sunscreen because I'm finishing the one I got at home but I'm buying it next. Love the video ❤

I stayed with the ordinary because the formulas have been good on my skin and I don't have to deal with fragrance. I've tried the foaming cleanser, I like it as a first cleanse. I honestly wish The Ordinary team would name their product better, like the NMF + beta glucan one, it would have helped so much if they add "gel" or "lightweight" etc in the name. Consumers would know immediately about the texture of that moisturizer.

The founder of the company felt strongly about avoiding marketing terms that are used in empty and/or misleading ways elsewhere in the industry. I think that has a lot to do with why you see them stick to language about what is in a product and how it functions, with less emphasis on subjective terms

Hi I’m a chemist! I’m not a skincare chemist but glycolipids are essential in the production of glycocalyx structures known as biofilms. A biofilm is the collection of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi) in an organised layer. It sounds gross but the symbiotic organisms that make up our microbiome are what protect the skin. Plaque on the teeth are an example of a biofilm, but the skin barrier should also be considered a biofilm. So I think the idea of the cleanser is that it’s washing away debris but still reinforcing the skin barrier via glycolipids.

I've been using only The Ordinary products on my face for the last 9mths. Absolutely love it. I used Australian brands prior to this which were good (Sukin) but over a 2 year period my skin changed dramatically because we moved to a different climate & I had to stop. My eczema dermatitis was much worse, my skin felt so dehydrated, I suddenly had a lot of fine lines & wrinkles & I started getting acne again with an oily t-zone. I only tried The Ordinary because of watching so many RU-vid videos by dermatologists & aestheticians. I'd never heard of the brand in my life & the 2 places (besides online) it's sold here I'd never shopped in before. I have had so many people ask what I'm using because my skin looks & feels amazing. This is the first time in my 44 years of life that I've had amazing skin. Can't thank The Ordinary enough for that 😊🇦🇺🦘💖

I get a little sad when this brand gets attacked just because people want to buy everything they see. All products had a write up explaining what they did. The reason Brandon started the Ordinary is because brands were charging ridiculous prices for products with cheap ingredients. If you notice many brands make a big thing of promoting Glycerin which is one of the cheapest ones. Mainly those high priced products. The idea was not to buy everything but to select certain products based around one or two ingredients. The reason they introduced more products was due to choice. They had more sophisticated products at higher prices. I swear by FECC but can't justify all the products in the NIOD line. I'm disappointed because he the obviously had mental health issues when they took over his company. His concept, his genius, his passion. Gone. Because that's when he went?? off the balcony. Yes, he likely needed an intervention and Estée Lauder may be one of the better brands but there was only one Brandon. I believe if Brandon had kept hold of his company, they would have developed it further. He was planning a prescription type service. Sound familiar? He opened our eyes to what the beauty industry was and is (yes I love makeup and skincare) and showed them up for what they are. I'm sorry for the rant but the beauty industry con us every day. I know. I'm one of many that falls for the marketing. He opened our eyes about true costs. In one interview he was asked how he could make money selling The Ordinary products for so little. He actually said the mark up on those cheap ingredients were higher (%) than NIOD. They sell more because people can choose which ones will suit them and buy at a fair price. Sorry for continuing the rant.

I'm autistic and have sensory issues regarding certain products' textures being on my face, and it is naturally very sensitive. Add onto that years of recovering from hormonal acne thanks to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome have ultimately left me with skin that is needy, yet freaks out over every little thing that touches it. Birth control has helped tremendously, in conjunction with my cleansing and toning routine. However, I'm still on the market for a nice lightweight moisturizer that melts into my face and keeps me hydrated without feeling like greasy vegetable oil sitting on the surface. that moisturizer in the beginning you mentioned? the beta glucan one? that sounds perfect for me. it sounds like it will tackle everything I'm self-conscious about without breaking the bank. What I like about single-active products is that I can use them in conjunction with more complete products. For instance, I had a good night routine going with a niacinamide/NAG toner and a moisturizer with peptides, panthenol, vitamin C esters, allantoin, etc. I wanted to incorporate azelaic acid, so I got TO's suspension. I didn't need to eliminate my existing moisturizer that I already liked. It also helps me out when I don't have the knowledge or skills to formulate with a certain active. I actually make most of my own skincare using tutorials from professional formulators and ingredients from cosmetic suppliers. If I don't know how to use something (like azelaic acid), or if I just don't think it's safe for me to DIY (retinoids, high concentrations of AHAs, etc.), I can incorporate a TO single-active product into my routine instead of buying a combination moisturizer and eliminating my own moisturizer from my routine.😮😮

@@wendigo1919 Mild? Some prodcuts are double the price and most of the ordinary products only contain 1 main ingredient. You can find other brands for cheaper price with more than 1 ingredient, the ordinary these days increase price based on their brand name.

I love the Ordinary for being vegan and cruelty-free. They're a Canadian brand, which is local for me. The no-frills affordable products are great, both skincare and foudations/concealers.

So this is why I love your videos so much and your opinion on things. You always explained why you didn't like The Ordinary and those reasons are why I drifted from them as I got a better handle on what my skin needed and my own knowledge on skincare. But my long-winded point, you have no problem making a video saying "Hey, this brand is coming out with great things!" You care about the products and are willing to give brands another chance and if their new things are good you will say so.

No just use whatever works for your skin! I personally don’t use all the same brand because they won’t always have what works for your skin

I appreciate your honesty when it comes to TO. There's a lot of skin influencers who have a cult-like loyalty and trash TO's competitors such as Good Molecules and The Inkey List. It's off-putting. I have a few products from TO I'm using right now but not everything is a hit and sometimes other brands have better versions of the same thing. I'm not sure if these new launches are for me or not but it's nice to have a review of them I can trust.

Thanks for this, James! I'm vegan, and trying to navigate through ethical skincare choices. I know The Ordinary are certified cruelty free, and are also vegan safe, so to know that they've improved their product line and that they're a viable option for me is hugely reassuring. 😊

Not only are they easily accessible but based on how the key ingredients seem to be plant based; it appears they may be vegan products. So they're making affordable, easily accessible products that are effective and non stripping that can be used by p much everyone (who would benefit from any combination of those particular products) And they made options so they can cover a wider range of skin condition

Personally, I wouldn’t use anything on my baby’s face other than a very mild baby soap with colloidal oatmeal (my son had eczema on his face so just the most mild cleanser formulated for sensitive baby skin). This is just my opinion, but when a product for adults says you can use it on a baby, it still wouldn’t convince me to use it on my child, it just means that you could if you wanted if you ran out of baby soap formulated for baby skin. As a matter of fact, I feel like it would be the opposite. A baby formulation that an adult could also use too. This is just my opinion only. When a baby is a small infant you only need to gently clean its face at bath time with the same gently baby bath…outside of the occasional blurppy mess😅. Some people bathe their baby once a day, some every other day. We bathed my son every other day due to his skin but would still give him a gentle damp wash all over and in his crevices with a baby washcloth and mild water daily. As a baby grows and is introduced to baby food or solid foods, then yes it needs a little more attention to cleansing and once baby goes from crawling to standing to walking, they will get messier and sometimes need two baths in the same day if they were extra naughty exploring the world around them.

I still like The Ordinary to this day. Their products can be pretty basic but it's effective. I use a combination of their products with my Korean skincare products which helped my skin recover. I have dry/normal skin but I ended up with acne-prone skin in Taiwan when I worked there for 9 months. It was a disaster I never had acne before thankfully after another 9 months of being diligent with using BHA/AHA, glycolic acid, retinol, cica, tea tree, mugwort, and a few different moisturizers my skin was fine again.

I have twins (2years) and don't cleanse their face with soap unless they wear sunscreen on their face which isn't too often because wear UVP sun hats. Now that they're more active and mobile i put a little sunscreen on their face and dilute baby castile soap or thinkbaby soap on a soft cotton cloth during bath time but I wouldn't purchase TO for my babies because it's not a baby brand or a brand geared toward a family friendly simple routine if you know what I mean.

Regarding babies. It's for the creases of their neck which can collect milk, fluff and etc. You would be surprised with what baby hands collect in between their fingers. Also the nappy area need to be cleaned. Depending on the age, as they get older and get into more messy things.

I have dryness on & behind my ears (as well as the scalp) which gets worse in the winter. Any suggestions on how to make it better? Putting a basic cream on my ears doesn't help. I'm looking for something affordable (under $20). Also, which ordinary cleanser would you recommend for older skin (for someone I know)?

I haven't tried any of those yet but I think the marine hyloronics is very underrated they market it as a light weight alternative to the 2% ha but it's actually full of amino acids and it has an ingredient which I can't remember the name but it opens the waterways into the skin so that your skin absorbs even more moisture

I’ve been looking at some of the new Ordinary items but skeptical bcz I really only loved the Hylamide SubQ line and they ended those. Some of the formulas that they just created are similar to the SubQ skin but I really just want my SubQ back 😩. I will now try the betaglucan since you gave it such a nice review. 😊

I nearly spit out my coffee at the question about whether or not parents use cleansers on babies 🤣💀 My first thought though was “how would they know this can be used on a baby? Was it tested on babies?? 😂 As a parent the answer is no, no I have never used any type of cleanser on any of my 3 children when they were a baby lol. I would only bathe them every couple of days with a soothing gentle head to toe wash (usually an oatmeal based) all over and then apply either a baby lotion (sometimes a baby oil) on their body, a little on their head (avoiding their face if using the oil) and a little baby powder on their nether region lol. I would have never thought to use a cleanser on my baby!! I don’t think it’s needed. Their skin is already so soft and supple that the gentle all over baby wash is enough. Seriously, how would they know to make a statement like that?? 😂

As a person with "baby experience", you don't need to clean babies a lot, in fact, the research suggests that letting your babies get dirty is a good thing. A wipe down with water is enough 90% of the time. You only need cleansers for when the child's proper dirty for a reason. Too much cleaning is devastating for a child's natural development of a functional immune system and just general health. Too much filth is too of course, but in general you don't want to aim for the cleanest you can possibly get, you want to aim for "not-filthy". There are "soaps" formulated specifically to help you achieve that and those generally cost a fraction of "fancy skincare" prices too, so these ad things where they go "you could put this on your baby" aren't a suggestion for you to do that but an attempt to make people who've had babies feel safe about putting it on their own skin.

No baby skincare routines over here! My son who is 4 does have some excema on his legs and even then just a prescription steroid when needed and keep it moisturized. As far as the face no, much to my 2 year old daughters dismay but i do pretend and let her put on a little fragrance free moisturizer on occasion.
