This is missing Chris Priest's USAgent mini where the Badguy attacks Lemar while he's tripping on Kaiju Blood Super Serum that turns him into Louis Farrakhan and beats Battlestar while calling him an Uncle Tom. It was a weird mini. It needed to be like, one issue longer, everything felt rushed.

My son bought a Falcon Cap to fudge as Battlestar! Similar costume and it gave him another good Black Super Hero as well as a member of Silver Sable's Wild Pack.

Battlestar's up there for my favorite black hero currently, I do like some BP runs too though. I liked the little bits of Bill Foster I read but I only read a little. (Ironic for a giant size hero eh?) Oh classic Prowler was fun too.

@@Lazrael32 The Wild Pack comic was a weird one, it tried to speedrun social issues and did them awkwardly, this comic also doesn't mention the designated Racist Character who was angry with Battlestar getting a crush on a black woman (One of the Somalis I think? It's been a while) and ranting that it's uncool to feel that way. It was however one of the few to actually have the stones to depict the Yugoslav wars themselves instead of relying on Slorenia a magical BalTIC country created out of the ether to sthand in for the BalKAN warzones of the 90s. (Slorenia was kinda cool though.)

@@DIEGhostfish yeah most 90's comics tackled things from decent to awful. I was 8 at the time so i'm not sure i picked up on it all. but really it's more realistic that it takes a lot for someone like that to change. usually degrees overtime. it's not an overnight thing. at least from my experiences.

It’s too bad that Marvel won’t throw Battlestar a bone and give him a mini series or at least put him on an Avengers team. For future videos I definitely want to see one on Rage, Power Pack and of course, U-Foes. Howard The Duck and Alpha Flight would be nice too.

He got to have some bits in the USAgent mini, the villain was an interesting fellow, when he took his super drug he got aggressively Black Nationalist and mad as hell, sadly Battlestar really only got horribly beaten down while the villain called him an Uncle Tom.

As controversial the name "Bucky" was for Lemar, I think the process of transitioning into Battlestar is great character development and should remain as part of his history. Just like many of us today who are oblivious to various offensive words or actions, the fact is upon learning the truth about these things, most people make the conscious effort to change for the better. I feel like Lemar learning the truth about his original moniker and deciding to change it makes him that much more relatable as a human character. Besides, "Battlestar" is such a badass name. I mean it just has this ring of awesomeness to it. I do wonder what a "the Falcon and Battlestar" series would have been like if those two joined forces earlier in their superhero careers, especially after Sam becomes his own Captain America. That would've been pretty cool. Maybe that could be a "What if" limited series or something. Who knows. Good work Merry Marvelite. Keep it up👍

I was reading Captain America as a child when he was introduced after Steve Rogers left his role and the more violent and right-wing John Walker took over as Captain America. Battlestar originally went by the name Bucky, but if I remember the letters pages correctly, someone wrote in informing the writer that "Bucky" was a racist term used in the south, so his name was changed to Battlestar.

Yo this is amazing. I was always into Marvel Comics back in the nineties but never really ran into Battlestar. I knew who the u.s. agent was but never Battlestar. And now to see this wonderful story that you put out about him and how they did him and Falcon and the Winter Soldier just makes me mad just so much more than could have been done with them. He didn’t get the serum because it would have been redundant with the presence of Isiah Bradley’s serum storyline. And if the intent was to have Hoskins “sacrificed”, having another serum holder would be a waste of time.

Not only is lemar an adult . But in the comics bucky was a kid and was killed in action . Uh bucky was also a nickname for james buchanan barnes . Its cannon to both mcu and the comics .

A lot of channels like this have a hard time with the appropriate amount of information, by either being too short with not enough information or too long with a lot of filler. Your information and pacing is just right. This is the channel I would recommend to anyone wanting a recap of chatacters.
