The great thing about rob is that he explains these stories not only in immense necessary detail but also he speaks about them like they are real events. These culminate not just in a a video but a fucking lesson !!!!!!

My "brother" is in the Air Force, and years ago he didn't secure his rifle and shot himself in the foot. He lost 2 ranks, the pay and benefits that came with. He was disappointed and slightly distraught because of the "Cheddar Bob" references but eventually he got the rank back

Also, for charity, there was a real drive by President Wilson to force black people out of any job within the govt., and when he couldn't he would actually build real physical cages around their work areas/office desks. Terrible.

I mentioned a MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) episode where Madripoor, a fictional Asian locale, is woven into the story, yet viewers have noticed how there wasn't a phenotypical "Asian" (¿ 'maybe' 1-3 ?) woven into the comic based city population. I was just retired from the military. To today's standard its pretty impossible to see an officer (captain) getting demoted to seargent. But hypothetically if it did occur today it would feel like you failed life horrifically. Most times when officers screw up they either go down a rank or get kicked out.

Okay I’m going to be honest someone get Carl Lumbly an Emmy for stunning portrayal his performance was just phenomenal however I really hope that they do show him as Captain America or say he was in the MCU so it deepens his words about Sam becoming Captain America but hey looking forward to the finale.

Give me a Disney plus one season series where it’s old Isaiah telling young Elijah the stories of what happened to him back in the war. Each episode could start as a voice over and Elijah could stop him once in a while to ask questions. Give us all the key scenes. The boot camp. His funeral. The experiments. Stealing the costume and the raid on the enemy camp. And the fight with Bucky. Have it end with his arrest and court marshal. Gives a chance to see his full story, a bad Bucky again, and can give Elijah character before he eventually becomes patriot.

This is one of those instances where truth is stranger than fiction. Where the things that actually were going on and how twisted real life is/was, can actually equal or even surpass comic books. The strange thing is that somebody's mind writing stories doesn't have to reach too deeply to surpass the oddity or depravity of real life.

I learned about Isaiah Bradley from the wedding of Storm, and Black Panther, and then again from Elijah Bradley, in young avengers. Such an awesome character. I haven't this book. Red, white, and black...yet

It is loosely around history, instead of a super serum soldier, they just monitored black soldiers with syphilis, when they discovered the cure (penicillin), they just left them soldiers infected.

I was never demoted but I knew a few people who were and it’s a little soul crushing. Depends on why but I’ve seen a couple guys that definitely didn’t deserve it but the wrong people with the right power is never good

So basically this is what happened to John Walker in Falcon and Winter Soldier, his emotions went wild due to the super soldier serum affecting his brain and thyroid gland.

Big difference is John Walker in Falcon and the Winter Soldier CHOSE to take the serum. He wasn’t experimented on like Isaiah Bradley.

You cannot be demoted from a Captain to a Sergeant. A Captain is a Commissioned Officer and a Sergeant is an Enlisted Non-Commissioned Officer, 2 different rank structures. The ranks under a Captain are 1st Lieutenant and 2nd Lieutenant.

One way that could happen is if he was an enlisted member that later gain a commission. If they were forced to relinquish it, they would revert to their last enlisted rank. In this case, he could've received a field commission during or after a wartime operation, then was later forced to relinquish it as punishment.

An officer can lose their commission and ,if allowed to remain in service, would be at the rank of SGT.

It impacts a person by potentially causing them financial burdens that they might not had prepared for because when that happens we often lose pay and also depending on how long you’ve been in you could be forced out.

That's an insane drop in rank. I seem E-6 go to E-5 or E-4 and that's depressing af. Going officer to enlisted E-5 is a career ender and puts you in a very bad mental place

That is a HUGE drop. An insult, really. A sarge is no longer an officer. Esp during those times you very rarely saw a black officer, much less a captain.

He went from being an Officer to being Enlisted. I'm not sure if it can happen like that with officers (I'm a enlisted Marine vet). But it would be like going from a high leadership place to somewhere in the middle. You have some power but not alot.

My Great Grandfather served in World War 2 in the pacific theatre fighting the Japanese he was a USMC raider and was very religious when it came to Christianity he thought that we were all equal in the eyes of god no matter what skin color he told me that he’d die for any brave American who fought for his country no matter the skin color. He saw combat at Peleliu island and Okinawa

I come from a very long line of servicemen going back way before WW1, its a family tradition for all us males, even if its the minimum 4 year tour, you do your part for your family, queen and country.. The rest of your life is yours to do as you please, which is fair. Both my grandad and his brother whom im named after served long enough to become Majors in the British Army, in my 4 years i only managed to get Lt before IRL things meant i had to come out to allocate my time towards family but even so losing any rank in my family is HEAVILY frowned upon.. youre not in the forces to mess about and get into trouble,, youre there to do a job and represent the family. I will add though losing rank in the forces may be frowned upon in my family but aslong as youre not dishonourably discharged or (if youre a lad) dont to even attempt to join the forces.. thats looked down upon alot worse.

I was in the military for 15 years... tho, a demotion from captain to Sargent is literally impossible, loosing rank can seriously de-motivate you and send you spiraling into serious depression. Losing rank just isn't a matter of your loss of command authority it seriously affects your pay. A captain makes almost 3 times as much as a Sargent if not more. It's almost impossible to recover from that much of a loss. Not to mention everyone knows you have been demoted.

I got demoted two ranks essentially, I was selected for Staff Sergeant and got knocked down to A1C for failing my PT test twice in a row. It can mess up people when they get demoted when they love the mission, but I was already checked out and two months left on my enlistment when it happened.

Hi Rob, awesome video as always. I can tell you from experience that I was a Capt in the Army and i did disobey and order and busted down to the rank of 2LT. I did have to earn my way back up to Capt. But as for your question on the mental capacity and how it feels, I'll be honest, it feels like sh$t; I mean you bust your butt to get to where you are, only to have it taken away. But, I did earn my Cpt rank back and even made it to MAJ. I even ended up making the history books sort of, I was the youngest person to ever achieve the rank of MAJ in my Unit. I use to be in Spec-Ops. Hope this answers your question, but anyone else can chime in. P.S. Love your channel. Keep up the great work you do.

Well being career military, if you are demoted it can destroy your career. It puts a black mark on your record and it follows you. It never goes away. Now some people don’t care, especially if they feel justified in their actions that got them demoted. Some, might feel like they tarnished their service record. Now I was never knocked down during my time but knew many who were and they don’t really bounce back, especially if it’s their first enlistment. Now for officers I imagine it’s far more extreme because that’s a whole other level of commitment at that point.

Marvel needs to reprint Isaiah Bradley book. Like how is this story not in print? I get it digital comics exist but this book is too good to not have a physical copy with all these issues collected. In fact, just make a book with all of Bradley's appearances he hadn't had much play and his character deserves that much.

On the show they talked about him fighting during the Korean War, are there any comics covering that? I have to watch the video again to see if he covered that, but I would definitely like to read about that. My father was an Army Medic during the Korean War in the 50s so anything to do with that I like looking up and the show made me want to learn more about Isaiah Bradley. Great video as always, thanks!!
