The Origin of Marika 

Messmer's crusade was AFTER Marika's godhood??? This makes no sense. Who sacrificed all those hornsent and made up the gates of divinity?

@@armandaneshjoo Gaius’ remembrance mentions how he and Messmer were like older brothers to Radahn, meaning that Marika (and Radagon) had to have ascended to godhood and have Radahn be born and grow up a bit with Messmer and Gaius before the crusade.

I bet it was the hornsent themselves who sacrificed their own people to create the gates of divinity and Marika simply seized the opportunity.

I believe the crusade occurred after the assimilation of the Carian family. Not before any of Renalla's children were born. As for Mesmer and Melina, I think Marika/Radagon just had them and everyone thought they were children of Godfrey or whoever she had an interest in. She was a goddess after all.

Unless I’m mistaken I don’t believe “Bonny Village” is mentioned verbally by any NPC, left up to interpretation on how to pronounce. And I don’t believe I mentioned Mohg anywhere in this video.

The game itself refers to Marika as a "God", it's almost used as a neutral abstract term

The Japanese word can mean both Shrine maiden or shaman.

My guess is that’s it’s either Marika’s actual grandmother (as mentioned by the braid) or a figurative leader of the Shaman. Not convinced that’s Marika’s body however.

Because of the hair I'm going to guess that it's Marika, since it seems like a woman who just cut of her braid. EDIT: Just a statue of her imo.

@@Vincentpanh my theory is that the jars are a means of creating a "Crucible", mixing together for them to be reborn as saints. This is considered a blessing

@@Dastardly_Duo I think so too, they mix rot meat, Hornsent meat and all kind of meat they can find with the Shaman. Maybe Marika is one of a few who become saint this way.

You are correct I did miss that detail from the Remembrance of the Boar Rider. Thanks for catching that. So yeah, Messmer’s crusade did happen AFTER she became a god, although, we still aren’t exactly clear what the “seduction and betrayal” were.

@@joesaiditstrue which doesn't make sense considering how the Minor Erdtree spell speaks to Marika's kindness without order which is why that incantation can't have been used there after she became a god and possed the elden ring the embodiment of order

​@@MiNiSoTaN what if the seduction is referring to how Marika ascended to godhood? If we can go back to the trailer, she was pulling golden strands of hair from a different being covered with blood. Then she walks to the altar of divinity, walking barefoot on a flesh of some kind of a huge dead body. I am thinking that she seduced a god and killed and consumed it to have power and ascend to godhood. Thus the betrayal after the seduction. Also, we still don't have answers yet why Marika have a serpent bracers in the trailer.

I don't think marika betrayed her own people. In the erdtree incantation it clearly states the kindness of gold, without order. Emphasis on kindness. I don't think someone who betray their own people for power would then suddenly go back just to bathe the village in gold despite knowing that their would be no one there to heal. This plus the two tree sentinels protecting the place with the sad and beautiful music playing in the background communicate to the audience that Marika truly cherished this place and it's people. Messmer even now continue to try to reverse what has been done to his mother people in the shadow keep where you find the living jar in the hospital. Everything from the setting to the music communicate the love that Marika had for this place.

I think it goes back to the hornsents. They are trying to make a Saint out of the Numens in the Bonny Village. Those who fail to become saints are stuffed in the jars, as mentioned by the weeping phantom who doesn't want to be stuffed in the jar and promised to be a saint if given a chance. My initial take is that, Marika successfully become a saint. To which she was given privilege to the doorsteps of the altar of divinity (or she has become "acceptable" and was offered to the "god" worshipped by the Hornsents). Then she killed that god, consumed it, and claim its power as her own. This answers the "seduction" and "betrayal" in the beginning

She left her son to rot, used her lovers and threw them in the garbage when she was done with them, only acknowledged children who were useful, and destroyed the very order of reality so she can sit her fat as on a throne forever. I think she is more then capable. She is a cunning selfish narcissistic psychopath bruh.
