I love how he smiled while playing "Oh du lieber Augustin" (the Austrian ballad) because it is a song about losing everthing (during the plague) but if you take it with humour, you can weather the storm.

In short it was that studying the history of world music was just an amusement to pass the time for me at the time, and I said I was studying it, but I didn't actually study it very deeply.

Japan is slightly different. not that I am Japanese, I'm Brazilian:) but in one of my piano books a long time ago had that song. It's called sakura(cherry blossoms) you played the short version. nothing wrong. still love it. nice choice for Brazil. love it. love from your nine yr old fan!

Most of the times it’s not about difficulty but about octave jumps... For example the polish mazurka (1:57) is quite easy to play but he has to look the whole time because the left hand is is always switching octaves
This is EXACTLY why I subscribed to this channel. I love it when he does world music like this or the same song but in the styles of music from around the world. I wish I could play piano like him. He’s soooo good!

Fun fact: This Mexican melody you put after Poland was very popular... in Poland during Nazi occupation of World War II. With Polish words about hard times of war and occupation it was sung by street musicians and resistance and somewhat brightened the dark era. Thanks for another great video! =]

Paradójicamente, el Tango "La Cumparsita" que atribuyes a la Argentina, (nuestro país hermano por el Oeste) es el Himno Popular y Cultural uruguayo, desde que una ley de su Parlamento en 1998 lo dispusiese así. Su autor es el músico Gerardo Mattos Rodriguez, nacido en Montevideo, Uruguay en marzo de1897. A pedido de su autor, se le hicieron "arreglos" por parte del músico argentino Roberto Firpo, quien, posteriormente a esto, la tocó junto a su orquesta por primera vez en público el 19 de abril de 1917 en la Confitería La Giralda, situada en la Plaza Independencia de Montevideo. (wikipedia) Esa Confitería, estaba en la P.B. del icónico edificio capitalino "Palacio Salvo", donde también se encuentra hasta la fecha, el piano de Gerardo Mattos . Maestro Extraordinaire, I am loving all your playing (esp. Harpsichord). In your tango you are rushing your rests, that is where the tension is made. And your release needs more flourish! The notes after the pause are suppose to melt into each other like intertwined tango dancers.
