With the low water elevations now at Lake Mac do you think its still a good presentation with so many trees being out of the water where you have to troll the edges of the trees? Or do you think its better where you're able to drive over the top and keep the spinner bait towards the top of the trees? Thanks
if there are trees that are down deeper troll them. Can try trolling edges of standing trees or can try casting into the trees. some of them have fallen down and make great ambushing spots for walleyes up shallow.
Lead core keeps your line at a steep angle helping you clear the trees and the Spinner Bait usually bounce off the trees. Snap Weight might get wedged in a "Y" shape branch of the tree. Snap Weight and the spinner Bait will run at or about the same depth unlike a crankbait. If you do try a snap weight try use a thin long weight. It should rock and roll over the branches. www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-pencil-sinker . Pencil weight might be the best example.
that was taped years ago and I don't have the paperwork. It looks like the tail end of summer. Everything pretty green, looks like cold front coming in. Maybe August ? Walleyes are ambush predators so they will hide in timber all year round. Same goes on river systems with trees in water.
