Will the display show menus as I access them. My 897s factory LCD is unreadable. So for instance if I want to change settings for my SSB filters will the display show while I access the menu for that?
It does show the menu BUT it reads it from the transceiver EEPROM & is reliant on when Yaesu updates it. For menu number, they only update when you turn the power off. For other items, they only update when you change a band or mode. Some are updated instantly. Also, the data is only correct if you have the transceiver in VFO mode. So its nowhere like a screen replacement but it does show more data on one screen & bit clearer than the small Yaesu screen & menus. Definitely a trade off. Still, there are thousands out there now. Was interested in purchasing your cat display but you had mentioned the housing is biodegradable I was hoping to put it in a vehicle where the temperatures could get pretty warm has that changed at all?
No. I still use PLA which is biodegradable and not suitable for a vehicle. If you wanted ABS, the required STL file for 3D printing is on www.catknobz.com There are allot of companies that now 3D print to your requirements.
