I'm following in the footsteps of the original tourists: the 18th century posh boys who participated in a travel tradition known as The Grand Tour. This series will take me to Paris, across the Swiss Alps and down through Italy, where I will discover the 18th century tourist hotspots and hopefully come out the other end more cultured.

"The bills extortion", this pretty much sums up my experience in London. In 1 week I spent twice what I had spent the week before in Paris, and I never really "dined out", which I did plenty in Paris. One really funny thing was that the only decently priced hotel had rooms that reminded you of Harry Potter's cupboard
