This pristine 1953 MG-TD is owned and driven by Ed Reynolds, and he's the original owner! Ed won this car in a writing contest when he was in college. He has driven it in 48 states, as well as Canada and Mexico, and he still drives it today! In this video we interview Ed and take a ride in this incredible car.
What do you think of this car? Which car would you like to drive for 70 years?

I bought my first car in 1964..a red 1953 MG TD MK II.. one of approximately 1700 made. That was the first of 30 British cars, .. I currently have a 1963 MGB . I would vey much like to find another 1953, the best year for the TD. Excellent video.. Extraordinary owner and presentation.

I love me a MG. I learned how to drive a stick shift thanks to a friend's MG Midget. That car was a blast to drive.

Great video. I loved the history part, and how Mr Reynolds seemed so happy to show his car and tell the whole story of it.

What a nice old gentleman and a cool TD. I have a 1972 MGB roadster that runs like new and is fun when the weather is not too hot.

I was born in September. 1951. Shortly after, my Dad bought a new 1952 MG TD. It was black with red interior, and became known as "the Jimmy car" (my name is Jim?). Mom and Dad would bundle me up and take me every where in it. Dad also raced it extensively (he was one of the founding members of the North Central dividion of the SVCA and was instrumental in starting the races at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, which developed into Road America). He promulgated my life ling love of sport cars and, as a pilot, flying and airplanes (I had a pilot certificate before a driver's license, and raced SCCA A Profuction in the 1960s and 1970s). I have always loved the TD, and this one is a beautful example with an amazing history!

More power to Ed. I hope he has many more years with his TD. Mine was also my first car, but it was 18 years old when I bought it. Now I've had it for 52 years, and it is 70 years old.

Very nice video I enjoyed it very much. I love MGTDs, also the MGTF. I am driving a MGTF presently but hope to pick up a MGTD I recently purchased by the end of this month. I have another MGTF in my workshop presently but it is all apart for restoration. I am 70 years old. My first car was a 1952 MGTD MkII that I owned from 1969 to 1971. I had to sell it to get married in 1972 lol. I still have my wife so I made a good decision lol.

Fascinating story, a friend here in the UK , bought a ' 53 TD from a local MG dealer in ' 1966 which was discounted through lack of demand .Now in his mid-70s , he still has the car which is often seen around town ,remaining in the same County from new .It is basically unrestored with the original engine and wearing its scars with pride !.

So cool ! Theres a movie called "Every Time We Say Goodbye" in which Tom Hanks plays an American fighter pilot in WW2 stationed in Israel who gets involved with a girl. In one scene they're returning from a day outing and arrive in an MG TD. This was around 1942 !!! I guess they figured most people watching the film wouldnt notice; it just looked old !

I was the owner of a late serial number 53 MG-TD for about three or four years. I bought it for 500 bucks and sold it in pieces five years later for 500 bucks to a fellow student at Villanova University. I needed the money to graduate as an engineer. It was the love of my life. Any of my old girlfriends who remember the days we spent driving all over Pennsylvania with me, sign in please. Be good to hear from you again. -Curt Kuhns

I have a 1947 Dodge pickup that is original, that I have owned for 39 years. If you like something then why not hold onto it. It's good to know a vehicle that well, like an old friend.

My cars and motorcycles are 35+ years old. I got them all used and very abused. Everyone should drive the same car forever. Not to do so is really, really unsustainable. He lucked out to get a new car so young. I've never had a new car in my entire life.

Great story and great presentation of that story. Loved seeing the car being used. Reminds me of when I was 18 years old and saw a full color ad in the newspaper advertising the 1963 Studebaker Avanti. Put money down on it and when I finally had enough money to take delivery, I had to take my mother on the bus to the car dealer so she could sign for it, as I was still under 21. Still drive my Avanti several times a week. Gary Tryhorn
