Not quite true. He may be the founding father of *those kinds* of mature-themed animation, but Japan was doing *real* mature animation decades prior. Mike Judge is pretty rad though!
@@IIISWILIII Understandable! The Western world didn't really embrace the concept until the 90's so I think a lot of people here don't even think about it. The idea that 'cartoons' were anything but kid stuff didn't really happen here until the Betty-Boop days, but even then it got too 'racy' too quick for their reserved "eat your plain cornflakes and don't masturbate" mindset and remained that way for a long time. Now we get the best (and worst) of both worlds! :D
I was commercial fishing out of a tiny town in Alaska with my grandparents, it was late at night and my very reserved grandfather and I watched an episode in 93 and we were laughing so hard we woke up my grandmother. It was the only time I ever saw him laugh hard even to this day. My grandmother kind of chuckled but called us children and went back to bed. Somehow he has forgotten this moment in time, was only 12 and he was in his 50s but i am so thankful to have that memory. Thank you Mike🇺🇲
Mike is a true living legend. Office Space, Idiocracy, Beavis & Butthead, Tales from Tour Bus, King of The Hill, Extract…all incredible. Thank you Mike
He's extremely thoughtful and a tad introverted, which makes doing animated stuff a perfect outlet for him. You can tell that when he's with a group of close friends that he would have everybody dying of laughter.
Remember that expression "He has a great face for radio."? That's our feller judge. Made me laugh for years. He's the Mark Knopfler of animation. Zero stage presence, talent out the wazoo. Strangely, the older Mark and Mike both get, the more they look alike. Search it up. I'm right.
When I was 32 or so I was hoping that my future, old self could still laugh out loud to BnB and I can say at 62 the answer is still YES. Thanks for all the laughs Mr Judge.
I once got into a small argument with a woman on Facebook and she decides to snoop around my profile. She noticed I had just posted a trailer for BnB new show on Tv and she tried degrading me for it. 😂😂 I was thinking “Really, lady? EVERYONE LOVES BNB” …. She was like “At least I’m not posting BnB videos, ya loser’ 😂
Mike Judge is a gift of humor to the nation. He has done more than thousands of entertainers, politicians and other supposed artists to uplift and lighten our lives.
Beavis and butthead is timeless. I'm 22 and watch the show almost everyday. It started with clips popping up on RU-vid and I really got into it. I'm so happy that its back, absolutely loved the new movie.
So glad I had parents that let me watch it with them. So many nights of pure laughter watching BnB, South Park, listening to Cheech and Chong skits. Good times.
Liquid Television was such an excellent program. I'm so happy to have been a teenager in high school at a time right before society rapidly took a major downward spiral.
@@DeathsInverse Unfortunately this is not the same. Since the combination of social media and smart phones entered our lives (circa 2009), everything gets censored, wokeness gets shoved down our throats and almost every entertainment is just being sold to you via mass marketing, instead of being an actual good media piece. I asked my father who is born in 1963, about what decennia he liked the most. He said 80's, 70's, 90's and a bit of 2000's, in that order. He praised 4 decennia and didn't give a single praise to 2010's. I feel like that's the general consensus these days of people that are over 30. They'd rather live during any time in the 20th century (even experiencing the wars), than to live in these dark times, which are gonna become even darker.
They're all just random guys you'd see at the gas station. There's nothing special about them. They're just like you and me. ...except for Mark Zuckerberg.
This guy was so influential to so many kids in the 90's it's almost hard to fathom. At 10 years old ask me my favorite cartoon and I would've said that.
King of the Hill was an incredible animation show 🙌! It tought me a lot in life from Economics, animals, propane, working, life, being a REAL man like Hank , friendship, integrity, strategy, dysfunctional family and friends, morals, life, but was well covered with an entertaining comedic cartoon. Genius... 👏
This is why Mike Judge is my favorite comedian and animator in the industry. Despite of all his success, he seems not to court any publicity as much and stay humble always. He is an unsung comic genius and a treasure to the entertainment industry.
Damn. That was a wild ride. I had this playing in the background while I’m getting ready, and I was still so invested. When he said he sold it for 18k, I damn near choked on my toothbrush. Then he said he got back bc they couldn’t do it with out him, and I was in awe! What a real talent.
He is a real talent. Animation is tough to produce, especially when its all done by one person. Its a long, mundane process that you hope works out for the best. Happy it worked out for him. Good on MTV for paying him what he was owed, after they bought the rights for 18k. Many networks wouldn't do that and then the original creator would have to fight in court.
zarandaatr you got a my car phone off yes we we we need errands to do o exr.urgently and i is going out on over there at the center for the center and and molly united and rive-roe birthday and i was on is coming and molly is em coming over tonight and and we we try and an go eye to hangout with her on break lol c the to hey error yuck it y you are lol ui i said t to get u try e not river y yuans close to you o
yeah the pre internet era when parents would literally kick you outside and say "go play. and be back when the street lights come on" then lock the door behind you lol.
The original TV series introduced me to so much hip-hop I'd never heard of in the UK at the time. The likes of onyx and cypress hill etc, as a kid in the 90s it blew me away. It's awesome they're still going strong 30+ years later
When they were testing Beavis and Butthead for audiences, it was doing well to the point that one of the younger viewers actually wanted to have the tape. That never happened to any of the MTV test audiences for any show.
Mike Judge made my childhood fun. We developed a sense of humor through Mike Judge ,Adam Sandler, Chris Farley Chris Rock. These guys among others made it all fun man

I wanted to tell mike judge that the complete origin of my taste in heavy metal came from beavis and butthead. I got into this cartoon since I was in the 3rd grade and I always felt even to this day that their music video commentaries felt more like commercial interruptions, I still owe it all to their music video commentaries for promoting some of the rarest underrated bands out there that nobody has even heard of. Aside from big bands like pantera, slayer, metallica, megadeth, judas priest exc.. I've been a metalhead to this day all because of beavis and butt-head and I will never forget that! Mike judge, I can't thank you enough! I can't wait to see your new B&B movie!
"You not Bsiann you Asian". My fav quote from king of the hill. The Chinese guys daughter brought home a grade of B+ on her test and her dad was pissed
i have never heard a whole movie theater laugh from start to finish like that what a great vibe.hard to believe was 27 when it came out. Still watch the boys whenever i get a chance. To me one of best shows ever. you had to be really stone first couple yrs of it. It just keep getting better. looking forward to seeing sequel
I remember discovering all this brand new visual stuff displayed on the Liquid Television shows in the early 90s. All about visionary art, subversive comics/animation, imagination, weird effects, and Beavis and butthead and frogs. It really was an amazing thing
The first episode I remember was when they sniffed glue and went to the monster truck show. The event offends Sterculius (had to Google this episode for the name), the Roman god of feces, and the whole stadium overflows with excrement.
Beavis and Butthead was my real introduction to comedy when I was 12 or 13. Meaning that was when I began to admire the real genius behind it. I would argue that the best and most important comedies of our generation have been cartoons.
Lowkey a genius, as a kid I knew I loved the things he made but growing up and seeing his creations in a new light really opened my eyes to the intricacies of the characters he's responsible for
There will never be another that compares to Mike, Everything he touches becomes a classic. Thank you for Beavis & Butthead, I loved it growing up in the 90's!

@@michaelj6392 I wholeheartedly agree. But sometimes I wonder if thats because i was a child growing up in the 90s and see it through a rose filter, or was it truly a peak time?
@@ticoman90 I was a kid in the 70s and I'd say it peaked in the 80s, it was a downhill slide with entertainment in the 90s into the new millennium. There was still some great things going on - Tarantino movies, grunge/rap, etc. but you could see the suits taking over and killing freedom of expression. Take any stupid low budget 80's movie, while no masterpieces they still had heart and are a lot of fun(mostly), these big budget movies over the last decade or two feel soulless to me.
@@bluefish4999 well said, everything from music to movies in the 80s was magical. American optimism and our ideals unfortunately seem to have died around that time as well.
No joke my 65 year old dad ALWAYS watches Beavis and Butthead when hes having a bad day, needing a laugh, etc. Use to have to tape them for him to watch on his days off. If it wasn't a Western it was this. No joke I thank Mike Judge for giving me him something to laugh our asses off at.
@don't be surprised let's be honest you've been reported for constant spamming and I will report you every time you post your 💩 grifter. I report every grifter like you. 👍
I'm a Scot that lived in FLA during the 90,s , watched Beavis and Butthead every night,we would start laughing during the opening credits, then one night a band from our home town in Scotland appeared on screen and the boys mimicked the guys we went to school with, Very surreal, Trashcan Sinatra,s song,Hay Fever, shaking heads.,
I will never forget my childhood growing up with Beavis and Butthead. I had the posters and all. I have Beavis and Butthead Do America as well as the 2022 movie that I had waited for YEARS to see. I am 39 and Mike Judge has always been among my favorite artists ever. Beavis and Butthead have always been a HUGE part of my past and I've always loved it. Your fans love you Mike, and you made a HUGE impact on our childhood.
I grew up on Beavis & Butthead. My best friend & I could recite entire skits and we both did the voices pretty well too. It was great, except to everyone else around us that had to hear it non stop all day every day. I was 12 when I first seen the shorts and 13 when they got their first season. Man, good times!!

One of my friends in high school and I had a few classes together all 4 years and we both loved Beavis and Butthead. We’d always laugh like then whenever we were being dumb or doing goofy shit. He’d do Beavis’ laugh and voice, and I’d do Butthead’s. 😂
Mike judge is a cool dude. King of the hill is still one of my favorite cartoons. I heard that king of the hill will get a reboot or a remake as well. I never cared for beevis and butthead but king of the hill was one of the greatest cartoon shows ever made hands down.
Mike Judge can do anything; math genius, animator, musician, actor, director, producer, and I'm sure much more. Yet he looks totally chill. You'd never guess the insight this man has...
My brother went to college with Mike Judge. Said he was a amazing artist. According to my brother, Beavis and Butthead were inspired by actual people he went to school with. He said they were two losers that looked very similar to the characters.
Man, I remember _Liquid Television_ back in the 90's! Aeon Flux, Plimptoons, Beavis & Butthead... good times. No mortgage, no job, no worries aside from whatever homework I gad to BS my way though.

Liquid Television brings back some awesome memories from my youth! Great stuff! I own all of the Aeon Flux DVDs and am very happy for that! I loved Downtown too! Daria spinoff was a favorite 😅
I met Mike in LA years ago, as he’s a friend of a friend. Super guy and introduced himself as Mike. Didn’t reference his last name. Humble a guy as you’d ever meet. He is The Godfather of all the animated shows like Family Guy and the others. Genius.
This guy is a legend i love this guy. Freakin so many good shows he contributed the first ever/maybe of all time comedy turned documentary in idiocracy and one of my personal favorites in king of the hill just hilarious and awesome

I was an intern at MTV in the 90s. Got to help out on various shows at that time…mtv sports, the grind, yo mtv raps, mtv news, John Stewart and beavis and butthead. Those guys were just holed up in the basement drawing. There were always discarded drawings and storyboards that I guess didn’t make the cut. I asked a guy once if it were ok if I took one in the garbage. He said sure. Ended up giving it to my roommate at the time. He loved the show. Wonder if he still has it and if so, if it’s worth anything. Maybe if I kept it I could pay for my cars gas now. Lol
good to see Mike on the podcast again to get the interview. i still remember last time he was there, it was interupted by an unexpected guest who took the limelight (dave cheppelle?), whilst Mike sat in the corner saying nothing and eventually had to leave.
@@finnanutyo1153 i was partly wrong, my memory fails me, dave cheppelle was a different episode. but Mike was in ep 1570 with Willie D and we didnt get to hear him then, i was interested to hear about beavis and butthead :) thanks @francisco B for clarifying
I still remember watching the premiere of liquid television in my barracks common room. You have to realize at the time all we had ever seen was Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo, Saturday morning cartoon kind of programs. Suddenly we were able to watch this mindblowing surreal stuff. Ren and Stimpy was another big one at the time too.
When I was a young teen (about 15 I think?) my (very straight-edged and strict) Dad said to me "hey, I seen a show I bet *you* would probably like. It's called 'Beaver and Buttmunch' or something - it's about two idiots yada yada, etc.' (he was being patronizing). Well Dad, I did check them out, and I indeed did enjoy them. Immensely lol. Thank you Mike Judge for providing us with something so off the wall hilarious that you helped make an otherwise difficult upbringing much easier for me.
bill hader would make a great butthead, they should do a live-action version of this with hader and Davidson. if SNL was any good, they would have seen this and made a skit of it back in the day
He will always be remembered for Beavis and Butthead. But, his true masterpiece is "Idiocracy". It accurately predicted the fate of the U.S. better than any sci-fi film before or since.
He nailed the president's part to a T. Think about it: The Hair, The WWE background and The Stupidity. trump was the real life President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho.😂
