To become a priest in the Orthodox church, one must be baptized in the Church and one must have both a blessing and an approval letter from their own priest as well as have completed all the prerequisites and requirements needed to attend an Orthodox seminary, where you will study Orthodox theology. At the end, if you complete your studies well and you receive the blessing of the Bishop, you may be tonsured as a priest. If you are already Orthodox and still wish to become a priest, consult your own parish priest first and then start looking for a seminary to attend.

"The life in Christ is a mystery. At the heart of the Eastern Orthodox Church is the priest." So begins the sermon. I pray the priest realizes that at the heart of the church is Jesus Christ, and that He is the priest in us all. In other words: may God come to recognize Himself in all of us, His humanity. He wanted for us that also we would have His perfect happiness, so He is appearing here now as each and every one of us. But will He accept such a lofty divine recognition for Himself as you as whom He is reading this now in His human disguise? Not for as long He believes as you He is but a human.

+Lodewijk Langeweg Christ is the *head* of the Orthodox Church. there is no contradiction except for those who do not understand the Orthodox Faith. are you a Trinitarian Christian? what sect / denomination do you belong to?
@lodewijklangeweg742
@lodewijklangeweg742 8 лет назад
God has given me to come to know Him and lead me to Himself without any formal religious organization. It is time for increasingly number of us to have a more direct relationship with Him. In His infinitely great Love for us He wills for us to have His happiness. So He is appearing here now as each and every one of us, in our human disguise.

Lodewijk Langeweg Orthodoxy is not a religion, it is *the Church* - the very body of the Lord against which the gates of hell shall never prevail [Matthew 16_18].

So when I was cursed and abused by an orthodox priest who made a slave out of me, screamed at me the f word, snarled at me, condemned abd judged me during confession, placed obediences on me that were ridiculous, mocked me for crying and told me that I needed to be chastized all the time and that I could lose salvation plus how wrathful and angry God is at me that it was God doing this through him? I lost my health, my life and fiance, graduate school and became severely suicidal and now hallucinate demons every day thanks to the "man of God". If he and Jesus Christ are anything alike I want nothing to do with them. My life, which was full of abuse and hardship in the first place was destroyed along with my soul by this priest and his psychic surgeries he would preform on me when I was clearly mentally struggling in the first place. Thanks for the scandal. The Church and God has done nothing to restore me and heal me or the losses I have gone through.

Many doctors and surgeons also harm or kill people. Some deliberately. But to then despise medicine is irrational. Despise the corruption of it, yes, with zeal.

I don't understand what Christianity you know but God is not man, or woman. However when He came in the world, to be One of us, He came as a man. Islam I find like Protestant Christanity: superficial. The way they see God, heaven, etc. is really childish. At a conference an imam said that in heaven if you really want 1000 virgin you will have that. This thinking is really superficial. In Christianity we believe that after our death we will not need anymore these physical things.

God is referred to as He in the Bible and so He is not woman.

Excuse you but, Christianity was already in parts in Africa when Europe like Ireland, Denmark and Yeah!! Serbia and Ukraine were pagan and another Jesus wasn't white he was Semitic.

Argument about the "race of Jesus" is a silly, secular distraction. Do you have any Jewish friends? Look at them. Have you seen pictures of Isreali Jews? That's what He looked like. Is it okay to portray Him as Black? or Red? or Brown? or Asian? Sure! He was Messiah to all. But if you want to know "what color" He was here on earth, just look up any Israeli website. But, since He was God incarnate, it really doesnl;t make any difference.
@carolynetter8046

@@fr.jamesrosselli9701 Jesus was white but would have been tan like others because they all were outdoors a lot and traveled a lot by walking. All the Messianic Jewish people who love Jesus and believe the Old and New Testament of the Bible that are here in America are white and the ones I met had brown or sandy blonde hair. But if their family does not have much money they might become hospitalized against their will and labeled crazy or that might happen if they seek counseling due to grief and stress. They will even risk danger to themselves in helping another. But in regards to skin color God does not make any distinction and neither do the children of God. The racism or skin issues are distractions coming from those who are not a child of God as in mostly the Catholics.

Is Jesus a man? or a god? how can god have a son? does he have a wife ? and is god a white man ? and if he is what about all the other races? .... theres just too many holes in you "theory"
@dikaioskyrios

thenewguy2006 Jesus is fully man and fully God. The Father is of no gender but we refer to Him in the masculine sense because this is how He has revealed Himself to us.

The "holes" are in the fact that none of this was suggested. Jesus was a Jew, He was also the prophesied Messiah of he Jews, and of all mankind: of all our religions, all our philosophies: the sum, substance and fulfillment of them. Jesus was not "a god." He was Son of God and God the Son, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity (If you would have some beginning understanding of the Trinity, look at your hand: fingers, thumb and palm. Each is different, each is specialized, yet whenever any of them does anything it is the one hand which is acting). God "can" do anything. He is Omnipotent. Therefore, there is nothing He cannot do. So, any consideration of "how" He "can" do anything is irrelevant. God's intention is in and of itself an action. Thjios is something we have never experienced (although enough of us walk in the self-delusion that we can), and whyich is beyond o0ur capacity to underrstand, however much our vanity may rebel at that thought. You would profit, my friend, from a reading of the New Testament and from more discussion like this. The questuions you've asked are not that uncommon, and you've made a good beginning of it.
