Also with the food, they will shout out your order number, they don’t bring it to you. I’m glad you went into a non touristy area to regular people frequent.

I strongly advice against just wandering around not knowing where you're going cause you could possibly end up in a not so safe neighborhood,the city centre,V & A Waterfront,Sea point,Campes Bay,Bantry Bay etc are the places to be if you're a tourist and want to be in a really nice safe area where you can find all the restaurants and activities you would want to try out. When it comes to minibus taxis,they're the most popular mode of transportation for most South Africans cause they're the cheapest way to get around,how it works is simple,depending on which city you're in there are special signs you have to make with your hands to indicate where you're going or you could just walk up to one and ask them where they're going,they will tell how much it is and you'll pay in cash and that's it basically,it's best you go with a local if you're gonna use a taxi cause it can get chaotic and disorganized and they may not be willing to speak English with you so you'll need someone to navigate all that with you.But to be safe just take an uber.And you're in Cape Town,so the most common languages there are English,Afrikaans and Xhosa.

you should go to the V&A Waterfront mall (Im pretty sure its called that) it has amazing restaurants especially this sea food one. you will be Able to try proper South African food. Pedros is nothing and it tastes bad in many peoples opinion.
