Excellent! Found this right after watching your video on tone, pitch, and notes. This one is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for all the work put into producing these. They are pure gold. (P.S. I found the playlist too, so I can learn more ! 🙂)

One really doesn't realize the complexity of what you are enjoying when listening to "Smoke On The Water." :) But I remember reading all those magazines for musicians where they would break their process down into mathematics, which is why I never could read music. Or do math :)

Hopefully this series will help you understand a little better! It can be pretty confusing if it’s not explained properly 😅

Another fantastic explanation of something I thought I already understood but still learnt something new! Thanks for the Bernstein link as BTW; I watched it years ago but didn't really "get it".

The fifth overtone is not the major third, the 81st overtone is the true major third, it being derived from 4 perfect fifths. The fifth overtone being called the major third, by fiat, is the greatest misconception in music history. Music is based of 3's and 2's. Throwing 5's also into the mix is confusion. People say the 81st harmonic is out of tune in chords. This is a lie.

Oh look, it’s Jacob Collier.
@RememberGodHolyBible

@@andybaldmanJacob Collier teaches exactly the opposite of what I wrote and what I am advocating for. He teaches that the 5/4 is the true major third. I do not, I teach the major third is a ratio of 81/64.

Wait so you are saying that we were wrong all along?
@RememberGodHolyBible
@RememberGodHolyBible 16 дней назад
@@toothless2323 Yes. Thou canſt hear many muſicall examples on my channel, all are in Pythagoꝛean tuning, which I call True Intonation, which hath theſe 81ſt harmonic maioꝛ thirds. As thou wilt hear, they ſound quite in tune eſpecially in the context of actual muſicke. They haue perfect vertical (harmonic intonation), while alſo hauing perfect hoꝛizontal (that is, melodic) intonation. I haue ſome barberſhop examples that compare the fifth ouertone tuning with the True Intonation ouertone tuning, but though the quality of thoſe videos is not the greateſt, they doe atteſt to the perfect intonation of the Pythagorean tuning with the 81/64 maioꝛ thirds and the 32/27 minoꝛ thirds. My moꝛe recent vploads haue a better moꝛe realiſticke ſound qualitie, but they are Pythagoꝛean/True tuning onely, with no compariſon. Some pieces are oꝛiginalls, ſome are arrangements, and ſome are ſimple retunes.
