How I got here…
22 yrs old: Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario.
23 yrs old: Competed as a long sprinter, anchoring the 4x400m relay to a silver medal at the Canadian national championships, contributing to Western's first national title in men's track and field.
23 yrs old: Started working as a personal trainer for GoodLife Fitness in Canada, quickly becoming one of the Top 10 Personal Trainers nationwide.
23 yrs old: Herniated two discs in my lower back, ending my track and field career and sending me into a multi-year battle with chronic pain.
24 yrs old: Enrolled at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (now Sonoran University of Health Sciences) after discovering my passion for naturopathic medicine.
26 yrs old: Still battling chronic back pain, I finally became pain-free through a platelet-rich plasma injection.
28 yrs old: Graduated and become a licensed naturopathic doctor.
29 yrs old: Completed the first-ever residency in regenerative medicine and integrative pain management at the Neil Riordan Center for Regenerative Medicine.
29 yrs old: Co-founded Regenerative Performance to help people with chronic pain just as I had been helped.
Today: We help people who have chronic joint pain reclaim their life with cutting edge treatments like platelet rich plasma, and stem cell therapy.
To everyone battling chronic pain, remember that your story is still being written.
Never give up.

Doesn't the oral BPC 157 work best for intestinal related problems and not so well for muscle, tendon, bone & ligament healing as compared with injectable BPC 157 at the equivalent dose? I've read that in order to get an equivalent effect from the oral form, it needs to be taken in at least twice the dose of the injection, so 1000 mcg per day on average. Is that about right?
@DrewTimmermansND
@DrewTimmermansND 4 года назад
Nope, thats just bro science. But yes higher doses are needed orally due to some loss of absorption. But oral works great for MSK issues and injection works great for gut, and vice versa

What do you think about the use of peptides while you have an active infection? Lets say you have a collagen disease caused by an infectious disease, treating it takes years though. Meanwhile more and more damage is caused, do you think starting with peptides sooner rather than later is a good idea even while you might still have an infectious agent in you? I understand that, at least the regenerative, peptides do not have any antimicrobial purposes so obviously this would be for example while you are on antibiotic therapy. Do you happen to know any reason why this might be contraindicated? Thank you!
@DrewTimmermansND

Little too in depth to answer outside of an appointment. We use some peptides to help with the infection, but never instead of standard of care

Hey Doctor, can this compound help to heal patella tendinopathy rather than just tendonitis? And if so, is it better to inject directly into the tendon, or just Subq around the area? Thank you!
@DrewTimmermansND
@DrewTimmermansND 3 года назад
Hey there, we use BPC-157 successfully in patients with patellar tendinopathy yes, and actually we use it more there than in tendinitis. We believe it is better to inject directly into the tendon, but that requires a physician trained to do so properly and safely. For patients, we recommend subq anywhere in the body, as the BPC-157 is picked up by the small blood vessels rather quickly, so if you're not injecting it directly into the damage then it doesn't matter. Belly, thigh, or shoulder works best for people.

I am about to try BPC-157 for my existing shoulder pain/knee pain. I have heard of it increasing cancer cells IF you have them, is that true? I know that the chances of that happening are slim, but I wanted to ask an expert. The benefits are amazing and I want to take it.
@DrewTimmermansND
@DrewTimmermansND 2 года назад
There's no evidence that BPC-157 increases cancer growth. This notion comes from the fact that BPC-157 can promote angiogenesis, but that has been taken out of context and erroneously led people to believe it increases cancer.

@JerrolGW2
@JerrolGW2 3 года назад
@@DrewTimmermansND I watched the other lecture, thank you. I wanted to know if you could split a dosage up into multiple (IM, IA, SQ) injection sites for a few different injuries, or would it be more beneficial to address one injury at a time to seek more benefits quicker? How likely is it to get an orthopedic doctor to willingly administer it through an imaging source such as ultrasound sound if I already have the peptide? In the lecture I heard you said it’s more beneficial to administer it through fluoroscopy or ultrasound to get directly into the damaged tissue/joint so IA. This would be difficult to do alone and more painful, so could an individual perform IA injects and IM by themselves through research? Strictly for research purposes.
@DrewTimmermansND
@DrewTimmermansND 3 года назад
I do not recommend you try injecting inside the joint or into tendons yourself as that could cause more harm if you hit dangerous structures. Just a single subQ injection in the belly is enough for most people as it goes systemic and helps multiple different injuries that way.

@DrewTimmermansND
@DrewTimmermansND 2 года назад
Sorry to hear that! I cant say if it will help you or not, but your injury is something that the BPC-157 could help with. We usually add in TB4 for our biggest cases (such as a pet tear) or if there is scar tissue. At some point you'll want to load the tissues (exercise) but you don't want to rush that. Take it slow, and slowly overload as tolerable. If you still have issues at the 6-9 month mark you could consider looking into regenerative injections

No studies on teenagers so can't comment on that. 1mg is on the higher end of dosage for oral and injectable, but is a reasonable dosage we use at times. No increased health 'risks' with one version vs the other, just reduced absorption with the acetate salt vs arginate therefore less results

don't inject the BPC into your ribcage cartilage. Unnecessary and risky. Just take the oral version, it works just as good as injectable in most people. We use the BPC-157 capsules from InfiniWell as they use the arginate salt. To help out, we have a 20% patient discount code on our website regenerativeperformance.com/supplements (code is RP20). Once on that website, click the InfiniWell link, and then choose the product labeled 'BPC-157'. When you hover over the product, you will see it says 'Original Formula' above the ingredient box). This is the version that does not have SNAC, which we find works better.

Hi doc!! Question: I realize BPC helps with repair and recovery. Can this also help repair muscle breakdown and repair in the gym? There are anecdotal reports of this, and this may be one of the reasons WADA has banned it. The basic mechanism of action would indicate that yes it could help with that

@@DrewTimmermansND thanks doc! I just received the BPC from your recommendation. I am a lean male, do weightlifting 5 days per week, with my lumbar spine issues from a spinal fusion at 17 years old, Harrington rods fused to T3 because of a 57 degree scoliosis curve that developed when I became a teenager. Below my fusion my lumbar has had some disc pains and sciatica. I am 40. Although I look fit, I wake up every morning super tight and i feel like I can barely put one leg over the other, like a robot without oil if that makes sense. I’m trying to help solve this. It’s probably inflammation or possibly from something in my diet, along with all my pains and aging. I do consume some walden farms syrups and there may be some ingredients that are causing this, but I’m not sure. I’m hoping the bpc helps with these pains I have and all the tightness. Do you work with some patients with spinal fusions often? I might ask if I can pay for treatment advice someday if your clinic provides remote calls. Thanks!

I’ve been injecting in the back of my calf just above the cast to get as close as possible to the tendon. No, do not screw around with trying to inject it near your injury. 100% BS bro science. Just inject subQ in your abdomen. No matter where you inject is subQ, it goes into your blood stream, and that's how it has its effects.

Are the pills as effective as injections for soft tissue repair? If so, how is that? Doesn't it have to pass through the liver?
@DrewTimmermansND
@DrewTimmermansND 3 года назад
If you look at the research, yes oral is just as effective as injection despite the first pass effect of the liver. We still don't fully understand what happens to the BPC-157 after absorption, so it might not even be converted to anything else in the liver, or it might be converted into something that also stimulates healing. Clinically we see the same response - for the most part, oral is just as effective as injections. Some individuals have responded better to one vs the other, but when looking at a large sample of people, they are equal in efficacy for most people.

Great question! Personally, I think most people should transition into barefoot runners, unless there is significant congenital changes in the feet, such as being truly flat footed. You have to be really careful with transitioning, and you have to do it slow! Too fast and you risk injuring yourself worse. There's a great podcast called The Drive by Peter Attia. Hey Doctor. What dose would you recommend for a meniscus tear and recovery of ACL surgery. I will be injecting in the area. 500 mcg a day? Thanks in advance.
@DrewTimmermansND
@DrewTimmermansND 5 месяцев назад
First, you don't need to inject in that area, as that doesn't improve outcomes. Second, here's our standard advice which is for oral, as we use oral most often as it works just as well as injectable: The most common starting dose we use with patients is 500mcg, once per day on an empty stomach. The time of day doesn't really matter in our opinion. We normally have patients take BPC-157 for at least a month to determine if they see improvements, but sometimes it takes longer to see effects as tissue healing takes time. We then have patients continue on the BPC-157 for several months, and then we might trial taking them off to see if their symptoms remained improved or if they regress. If they regress, we put them back on it.

First, it’s important to know that the FDA is in bed with pharma. Second, since BPC is found in human gastric juice, pharma cannot create it and therefore is labeled as a supplement and not classified as a drug. It works great for me though, but it will be hard to find all the comforting studies to prove it. I have come to realize there are two people in this world.
