The worst part is that as guilty as she feels, it's not her fault. Belos is a master manipulator and she's just a teenage girl who could never have known. If it wasn't her it would've been someone else. In fact, if anything she just saved some witch or demon from being killed by him.

Reason the magic worked was because of exposed titans blood in the vial hidden in the cemetery king was with Luz when she fought Lillith in the human realm and all of Luz’s glyphs failed

@@WelshGiraffa they didnt fully fail, they had enough energy to destroy the paper, this means that king probably has enough ambient magic to do that but not enough to fully power them yet

@@WelshGiraffa That and if I recall the Glyphs canonically are keyed to the Titain that Powers them... The Light Glyph she was using wasn't Keyed to Kings Power, it was keyed to his dads power..... But now that she knows Kings Light Glyph it should work as long as she's close enough to him regardless of where they are...

That’s how it usually is with series (especially Harry Potter). They start off with having a few dark moments but as the series goes on the darker it gets.

​@@reinaroja7326remember the whole thing with eclipsa and the whole identity crisis she had when finding out that she wasn't actually royalty. The situation with Marco where she majorly struggled with her feelings. Learning about her mom's trauma when they were under attack from toffee. Having to get rid of magic, something she has used and studied for most of her entire life. Yep, she's got trauma :D

Well, the first season was just the basics. Nothing that made Luz realize heavy responsibilities. By the end of the first season, Luz was left with the guilt that because of her recklessness, Eda’s condition worsened, and she was stranded away from Earth. Not to mention there was the looming threat of Belos’ plans for the Isles. Or, for the shorter, meta sense: S1 was just typical Disney stuff that got forced in while the end of S1 and just about all of S2 was an actual plot Dana could officially pursue.

​ @Caroline DiSalvatore Sorry, it probably goes without saying, but I meant to say it does everything better in MY opinion. 1. Personally the humor is more my type in TOH: It's got Luz and co. being adorkable and quirky in every episode, with one liners that are just deliciously random, well-delivered, and silly. SU does not nearly have as many one liners and silly sayings that stick with me. TOH has dark humor that the show either does not shy away from even if kids watch it, and at other times they make it subtle enough for just the adults to get a good chuckle out of it. I always thought SU either took itself too seriously or did not have much humor (light, dark, or otherwise) to speak of anyway. It tried at times to be funny, but felt more like something a 10 year old would laugh at kind of funny. Nothing subtle or clever about its writing when it came to gags or jokes. 2. The color palette and art style of SU was a bit much for me. It was too sugary, bubbly, and flamboyant at times. TOH has vibrant tones that are real enough but also fun enough to leave the audience returning to the characters and the world they live in. I instantly fell in love with Luz, Eda, King, and Hooty because they are different species who stand out from each other in personality and design. The super-powered styles of most SU characters was not the vibe I was going for, and it is hard for me to pull myself back to them. 3. But the thing I disliked the most about SU was how heavy-handed their messages about self-acceptance and gender and sexual identity were. TOH had relationships between LGBT characters, in addition to characters that so happened to be non-binary, and they interacted with each other like we ought to in society. These characters feel natural, and people learning to accept who they are in real life can see what a life of understanding and self esteem can look like from the semi-realistic lives of characters in TOH. SU felt the need to drive the story with powers and abilities to explain or enhance the ideas of sexual identity or gender identity. It was way too spectacular and other-worldly to be relatable. TOH had a bigger story with people that so happened to be LGBT, and that enhanced the story instead of being the core of the story. SU tried too hard to push their agenda of self acceptance as the core of their story, with little to no substance outside of that message.

Tbh, I feel this is a "shoulders of giants" scenario. The Owl House could go as hard as it did because Steven Universe proved that there was an audience for it, and even then, both shows got kneecapped as soon as it got too "controversial" (and even then, SU's sacrifice bought TOH more time). Like, I get the sentiment, but that's your mom
