My father served in the Pacific. He was wounded by shrapnel on the Island of Morotai, late in the war. 40% physical disability, 100% unacknowledged emotional disability. We didn't know and he would not speak of his service. As youth, my siblings and I knew nothing of his military service. In retrospect, I think he was damaged badly - far beyond his physical injury- that we never knew, not even his wife, our mother. He struggled, alcohol, 4 kids, blue collar pay. When he was on the boat heading for the Pacific he received a letter from Canisius College, in his hometown of Buffalo, offering him a full basketball ride. It never happened.
since Morotai Island in Indonesia as an Indonesian I say thank you for your father service during Morotai Campaign . my grandfather was drafted into IJA against his will when Dai Nippon occupied Java tough he hated Japs the most . He fought British and Americans in Burma 1944-1945 got injured and managed to escape back to Java.
I have been listening to this for two days now, it's just beautiful and there's that semblance of emotion...from battle, a journey so difficult yet profound...emotional, truly.
😢 I went to then and now ww2. Between the melody and the images, I'm crushed. My father was hit in the leg on the Island of Morotai late in the war. He came home broken and never really recovered.
This music just SLAMS my senses..every aspect of my being FEELS the energy of that time..my Mom recalled so much and would often talk about her and Dad's experiences..I usually felt as if I was THERE with them..awesome times!🙏
Now a days listening this background theme song for' Then and Now' World War 2 photos of Soldiers and the places during those days ..... this song really pulls the strings of heart with some heaviness and drops of tears roll by..... salutes to the composer......
Así es como conocí esta música, y sí, cada fibra del alma vibra con esos registros de otros tiempos. Nuestros ancestros, nuestros hermanos, nuestra humanidad, NUESTRA HISTORIA.
Not fully it cost a great price and i’am pretty sure a lot are suffering from the horror they saw out there. Yes, we did win not just because of equipment and fire power but because of Faith in God, courage and leadership. ✝️🇺🇸
My mother said, "you were lucky if you got a baloney sandwich for the day." Mom drank so much tea with her family during the depression she could't drink it as an adult! Her father caught fish for the family and relatives! They would call my Grandpa on his birthday to thank him for his help during The Great Depression. His famiy came from Sweden and they knew how to fish! My Grandpa worked until he was 77 as a Tug Captain! He lived to be 80 and never forgot our birthdays! We always got a Birthday card with $5.00 dollars!
The world was on fire. Human losses were great and the scale of the destruction was not fully known until years later. Millions served and millions more were touched by the war and strife it created. Many tales and stories yet remain to be told and heard , recorded for all to read and hear. Only those few thousand gave everything they had . They will forever be young, brave and standing firm in their beleifs. We hold these truths to be self evident. That all men, are created equal... It is to the few hundred thousand we pay homage to daily. To The Greatest Generation, may you never be forgotten and always held in the Highest Honor.
They were canon fodder. Like Putins soldiers are now. They were pressured, conscripted, brainwashed into killing for their psycopathic leaders. So much killing, so much pain and suffering ....FOR WHAT? To protect the ego's of narcissists. Don't ever forget the children and the frail....they are and always will be the true innocents of war.
This music brings back many memories and feelings about family. God Bless The USMC and the heroes who fought in the in the Pacific durring WWll. Thank you Uncle Warren. Your example inspired me to the man I am.
Lead, by example. Be, the person he taught you to be. Never, not once, quit, falter or stumble. This is for YOU. US Army 9th Infantry Step off smartly.
I struggled real hard in my life, i have seen death, I have seen it all. Yet i stand today with another Challenge! The odds are great! But now i have got nothing to loose. With Blood & Honour, I fight once more!!!!!!
An Homage to those who bravely fought in the Pacific. Many lives were lost but Many lives were saved by the sacrifice of these men. These young men will never be forgotten. For those who died fighting for freedom they were young and will forever be. They suffered but they made it. Honor to the greatest generation may their soul rest in peace.
This piece by Hans Zimmer conveys the sweep, triumph and tragedy of WWII as well as the indelible mark it left on those affected by the conflict. It also showed his sensitive understanding of the emotions the war entailed
I'm obsessed with World War II and follow everything I can know about it. I wish I was born early to have the honor of fighting with those soldiers. Greetings to every soldier who fought for his country with sincerity. I greet you from Egypt
The consequence of the war is that it left a permanent mark on all those who fought it. Many could find NO purpose upon their return and either went MAD or committed suicide! This carried overtone into American cinema in such films as "Roman Holiday" Gregory Peck was a veteran of the Italian campaign who had forgotten how to love until Audrey Hepburn entered his life.
I too am a student of WW2. But the danger of having a romanticized view of that war and wishing to have fought in it is assuming that one would've been among the heroes still fighting at the end. It is more likely that one would be among the dead or gravely wounded. While I honor those who fought and died in WW2, and I am fascinated by their stories, I thank God that I came to manhood in a time of peace and was granted the privilege of enjoying the freedom and prosperity those men who served in WW2 risked and even gave their lives to secure.
You're not Japanese you are bitch of Americans do what you told bitch great Japan to us is gone after they drop nuclear on your people and you simply let it pass be the good puppet that you are and stfu
