Unless you have explored all continental USA with your mtb don’t bother going on 2 week mtb adventure to europe. You will need a lifetime to really see it all. My advice to a regular joe is to move to europe with your mtb instead of going for a few weeks. I’m talking to normies not Bryant or other high value youtubers. They can afford a 2 week mtb vacation to New Zealand or Peru on a bat lash Niko from TX Living in 🇪🇸

@@bkxc The XT's have saved my ass a fair few times. I've tried the Srams and like you i don't like how the don't really bite at all, they're made that way and i don't like them as i would like to have full control over how hard i brake.

@@NoOne56488I know it's personal preference, but it's funny cause I find it to be the exact opposite. I feel like I have *more* control over my RSCs cause of the modulation. Shimano it's pretty much brake or no brake, and I've found that bite to be unpredictable (XT, never tried XTR or Saints).

Love these BKXC European rides! Btw SRAM Code RSCs are the best! But they can over heat at the rotor and result in brake fade over sustained rides...To overcome this, use MTX ceramic Gold pads and the power and sustained performance becomes a non-issue. Top modulation and power! TRP DH Evos are impressive too, but lever ergonomics are a little "off." God Speed!
@bkxc
@bkxc 9 месяцев назад
Interesting! Had not heard of the fancy pads
@TheAsbrooks
@TheAsbrooks 9 месяцев назад
@@bkxc I use the SRAM Guide Rs with Kevlar pads from superstar components to combat the heat build up. Also have switched to 2.2mm thick rotors which has two benefits. 1.The pistons don't throw so much, 2. Thicker rotors don't heat up so quickly and because of that stay cooler on long descents. But before these changes I would agree with you, too much modulation. Sometimes you just need POWER. The changes I have made gives me the best of both worlds

regarding the brakes, I dont have SRAM Codes, but a friend of mine uses them with Galfer brake pads and he is getting a lot more stopping power than before. I can personally recommend Magura MT7/MT5s also with Galfer pads, plenty of stopping power and modulation and lots of different brake levers so you can find your personal fit. A friend of mine who rides TRPs tested my setup (MT7s, Galfer pads, the 2 finger style levers (the brakes are a bit old, currently on their 3rd bike)) and said my brakes have more power and modulation, but the TRPs have a better lever feel. I also tested the HC3 levers on someones bike and they definitely change the lever feel to a more robust and precise sensation.

Probably with the SRAM brakes they will be transformed by some decent pads. Always like that with the Codes anyway. I have no idea why SRAM do this, they should just outsource getting some decent brake pads and have their brakes be much more popular...

Oh wow, I have heard a couple people say this now, crazy that the pads are holding the whole system back!

Love the videos keep up the good work by the way I’ve just got Clark’s brakes on my mountain bike and if I’m honest they work pretty good and well not really any issues with them good braking power do the job love the videos keep up the good work.❤️😎

Here is meme about duct tape and WD40…..the MTB mechanic equivalent is zip-ties and grease/oil. Both my bikes run XT Shigura’s MT’4 on the hardtail, MT7’s on the enduro, Magura has awesom Calipers but they levers are fragile and expensive. The end result is a little (noticeable) more power than XT with just a bit of modulation but the easy bleed of Shimano

Nice, love to hear it

@@bkxc Shigura’s are a great choice for where I am (location, skill level, financially) if I were building the dream pedal-able descending machine my choice would probably be TRP DH Evo or Hayes Dominion brakes with Galfer rotors
