The King was humble to praise his mother and allow her to handle that bracelet, because it was a precious gift, given by his father to her. That was a high honor and respect he had given to his mom.
I kind of like this show. As an American its very interesting, considering we have many shows here on the white house, this one is refreshing. I am definitely intrigued.
My first impression was , its gonna be cheese ball corny etc. but after the first episode I was hooked and binge watched my way through to 5 in 24 hrs. I think its because of the great writing and good actors.
Jane Asher is still as lovely as she ever was and is a delightful actress. The series itself is rather like Upstairs, Downstairs, with tiaras, so very tasteless - it's wonderful.
It's high time for this fictitious kingdom to become a (dysfunctional) republic. I hope this is what happens in the last episode: I cannot wait to find out!
Did anyone noticed that this looks like the Narnia's cast all grown up? The king, the princesses and the drunk prince, even 1 of the sisters acted in that movie lol
Please guys let us have the habit of engaging each other and click on likes or dislike on the series with us who are watching with you. it start with me im going to like and dislike your comment to make your day. stay blessed
Really, that is interesting.I spent 3 years working for the Family and never knew that upon the death of the king The Queen Consort loses her title of 'Her Majesy' and gets demoted unless the title is expressly extended as must have happened in 1952
I agree with an earlier poster: If Rupert Murdoch didn't actually write this rubbish himself, one of his lackeys almost certainly did. The version of the royal family portrayed in this series suggests what it would be like if his son ever became king.
Sophie Winkleman, what an actress, more a young Princess Margaret than Margaret herself was, the way she gets out of a car is more Royal than any Royal ever managed.
Actually, when a Queen-Dowager is left, the title 'Queen Mother' can be extended, but is not inherited. When she loses her Majesty title, it is extended, by courtesy. Her Royal Highness, for a former Queen is perfectly acceptable and separates her from the (even though non-existent in this) Queen who is married to the king. Elizabeth Bows-Lyon, the Late Queen Mother, was styled Her Majesty, The Queen Mother, because it was expressly made so by the Queen.
as watching the palace my first impression was it about queen a Elizabeth the 2 but it is about king Richard who for the life of me I cannot figure out anyone can help but still enjoying it
thank you all media for uploading the palace series by chance are there anymore? the acting is not the best, and historically its found wanting.... However it a compelling watch i like it, to those who are raving royalists like myself dont judge it by its content you will be disappointed. Many a good actor have tried a falled to replicate the magic of royalty. Watch for the pure enjoyment of the peices....
In Britain "instalment" is spelled with only one "l", not two! The unrealistic clichés are horrendous! Then again, "Her Royal Highness, Queen Charlotte"??? Her Royal Highness, the Queen Mother at a State Reception???? The royal family acting and talking like suburbian kids! This is ridiculous! Ha, one can guess, from where this series came from...
She wouldn't be the Queen Mother. This title was first used in modern times by Queen Elizabeth, consort to King George VI when he died in 1952 and Princess Elizabeth became Queen giving us 2 Queen Elizabeths. To distinguish herself from her daughter the widowed Queen took the title of Queen Mother. At any other time the widow of a dead monarch who had been his Queen Consort would take the title Dowager Queen or Queen Dowager. She would at all times be Her Majesty and NEVER Her Royal Highness!
Whoever thought it was brilliant to allow the character to imitate Lady Diana Spencer's tabloid debut by Alice Templeton wearing a see-through skirt was totally inappropriate~ Lady Diana Spencer is never to be imitated she was a "one-off."
Again more mistakes, pages in Footmens uniforms and the state banquet, ..a state banquet is white tie and tiaras not a black bow tie. You NEVER have black tie and tiaras.
