The Panama Hotel and Tea Room has become a living time capsule of the tragedy and resilience of Seattle's Japanese community for 8 decades. Designed with a growing Japanese community in mind, the hotel became a place for Japanese Americans to store their belongings in the wake of Executive Order 9066. Today, many of those belongings still reside in the basement of the hotel.
