Did you know that the city of Paramount was once the epicenter of the Southern California dairy and hay industries? It was called both the “world’s largest hay market” and the “milk shed of Los Angeles.” It once had 25,000 dairy cows and sold 32 million dollars worth of hay in one year!!! Learn about that history and the Paramount Hay Tree; one of the last remaining links in the city to that agricultural past and California Historical Landmark No. 1038.
Thank you to the @cityofparamount as well as the Paramount Historical Society for providing historical resources and the photographs used in this video.
