I came up with a method of finding a solution to this problem - First you need to look at the square itself. This is a 3 x 3 square. If you multiply that you get 9. Okay, so there are 3 horizontal lines, 3 vertical lines and 2 diagonal lines. That's a total of 8 which is 1 less than 9. It's important to remember this later on. Now, start with the first box in the upper left hand square. Put any number there as long as it's between the total number of squares and 0. Don't use 0 yet. Now square the number in that square and then cube it. Subtract the 1st prime number in the square below it. That's your starting number. Use your starting number to figure out the other numbers for the squares. Then repeat until you have put numbers in each square and square them. Then add the horizontal and vertical lines and then the diagonal lines and you should have 8, not 9. Remember that 3 x 3 thing. Okay, once you have added the lines you'll see something interesting. If you were to add the 1st prime of the square root of the other lines, you'll notice they change. Use that change to determine the next square unless it's the last square. This can be used for any square. 3 x 3, 4 x 4, 4.25 x 4.25 and so on in that manner....

After thinking about it for a while (46 seconds) I realized how much philosophy is hidden behind the Parker-Square.

Years ago, I started sculpting clay because I was losing motricity in my hands and had to keep them busy. I never was an artistic minded individual and I hadn't the slightest notion of proportions or shapes. One of the first things I modeled was a human skull... the most pathetic, malformed and medically concerning human skull by shape. But I was proud of it and to this day, 16 years of sculpting and modeling later, it sits in my desk as a grotesque and embarrasing yet fond reminder of how I started. This square kind of reminds me of that... of how you start a hobby or passion with pitiful attempts that don't quite work... but they are *your* attempts and represent your determination of not giving up on your goals and projects. I, from now on, I'm going to refer to this as "giving it a Parker"

I really want to make "The Parker square" a catchphrase among my friends. Sadly, they are not big maths fans, so it may turn out to be the Parker square of catchphrases.

After the recent Numberphile video, this is now an historic moment in mathematics history.
