Why are they obssessed with just this one child? Couldn't they just say: "Eh, forget it go grab another one. I"m sure there are hundreds to choose from." And thus the show does not exist....
Isn't it obvious she's probably immune like The Last of Us game. Pretty much almost the same story. Guy transport immune girl to laboratory but change his mind.
They needed a child without parents or family and who hadn't been processed into the system so that no one would come looking for her - but she couldn't be an illegal because they also needed medical records on the child. That's surprisingly hard to come by, at least according to the book. This one child was the first one they found that fit their criteria. I hope the show does better than the book about developing the bond between the agent and the girl.
@Nicholas Eckert If this agency has the credentials to carry out a kidnap & torture/experiment operation coordinated with other federal agencies (fbi agent or whomever the guy is supposed to be ) then you can easily just bump these two off rather easily and at the same time. Wouldn't even had to be a big shoot out or involve guns, or witnesses at all! And then just get another kid.
MINOR SPOILER WARNING FOR "THE PASSAGE" After having read the books, I'm a bit nervous seeing the trailer for the adaptation. While I understand that the books are too complicated to adapt in their full form, this just looks like an oversimplification. In the books, Amy (the little girl) actually goes to the facility, gets infected, and then gets freed by Wolgast. The fact that they're skipping that part makes the logic of why the government is out to get her confusing, as my fellow commenters have pointed out. Maybe they're not showing that in this trailer, but that decision appears to be undermining whatever excitement people might have for this show. The original story had a great deal of depth, conflicted morality, and well written characters. I hope that FOX has managed to capture some of these things, but I'm sadly expecting to be disappointed.
They seem to stretch the different parts of the book, don't they? I wonder if the end of season 1 will be Amy being captured. After all we don't know yet how many episodes will be in season 1. And I just realized we might have spoiled the whole season 1 now :p . I like the actress playing Amy. We only get a few glimpses of her but I like the way she plays Amy for now.
She is definitely playing it another way than in the book. But considering they are changing the story line it's logical she can't stay the same stoic girl she was in the book. If I remember correctly she didn't talk much in the book which would be impossible in a TV show. I'm more worried about the change they are bringing to the storyline. If they don't explain why this particular girl is so important there is no reason for them to go after her so hard if at all.
FantomWriter Well, they ruined my image:( And even if she didnt talk she could do stuff with her powers And they say they want her bcs she is young and perfect test subject..
They wouldn't pick her to begin with. Choosing a smart one, like her is never a good choice, they would likely go for a kid new to the system as they would be less wary of them, shes obviously been in he system a while.
Maybe they fix it by saying that she has something different in her DNA. That's the only excuse that they could have for not just getting some other kid
@@melannybermudez9884 that goes against scientist's claim of it working on children without side effect, if it only works on one kid in the world then its not a cure. IMO killing the agent and kid so they won't expose them in press, is somewhat reasonable.
@@spearscribs you skipped biology in high school and it shows, find someone who has a "special" reaction to the drug, study their reaction, use their blood to make a more refined drug. Simple logic. Whats prolly gon be the plot is that they have to mess around with an important organ she needs, like a brain, to make the refined drug, so she might not survive the process.
@@foresttrump If the special reaction is special enough that a single child is your saving grace then you're fucked anyways. That singular child will not be able to produce enough blood or plasma for widespread drug production. And if it's instead something like the brain like you said, don't know how that works but this movie isn't exactly science nonfiction, and it's a one time thing then I'd be surprised if they could even make 12 cures from that, much less enough to save a nation or civilization.
quaintly and this series covers essentially only a handful of the first chapters of the book as a result. This won’t do the book justice at all. It honestly looks like they don’t give shit about the book
It's not a vampire virus. In the books those infected look like animals, not humanoid veined creepers. A person transforming in the books, is described as feeling very hot. He sheds his clothes away, and he sort of transforms. They even get fur in the books and communicate with thoughts. They also don't remember who they are. I'd say it is more of a werewolf virus in the book
2018: The Passage 2019: The Walkway 2020: The Corridor 2021: The Hallway 2022: The Aisle 2023: The Alley 2024: The Trackway 2025: The Pathway 2026: The Vennel Ty for the likes , i appreciate it...
wow... the infection, an immune kid, the middle aged guy who first tries to get her to the doctors then try to save her when he found out what they're gonna do to her and adopted father & daughter thingy... it almost sounds like my favorite video game :D THE LAST OF US
Only trailers for 5 shows The Passage 2019- Looks pretty interesting prob check it out Rel 2018 Looks funny I guess Cool Kids 2018 will get instantly cancelled (can't believe they moved Gotham to 2019 for that) Proven innocent 2019 Too many legal dramas don't care
I don't watch shows on Fox anymore, they cancel the good stuff long before it should be and keep the crap stuff long after it should be cancelled. Yes, its been 16 years and I am still pissed about Firefly.
I just want to say thank you to youtubes algorithm for suggesting this to me. Ive been trying to remember the name of this show for ever...now i can start watching it again
I watched this entire series in like a day and it was amazing also anyone paying attention to the song in the trailer vampire diaries fans I’m talking to you
Man Balock its not just her its the information shes been exposed to and they also need the agent because they could rat out the companies whole operation.
They don't own Lucifer. FOX is undergoing transition due to the buy out of Disney. They're moving to reality and and non-scripted stuff. They'll likely phase out most scripted shows year by year once the 20thCentrury merger with Disney is done. The merger requires them to dropped FOX network and all FOX news networks.
Only CW and that DC streaming platform can save Lucifer. Lucifer didn't have the same streaming deals as Gotham/Lethal Weapon that's why WB was more eager to save those 2 over Lucifer. WB co-owns CW. That is the only network that can save the show. Everything else won't. Hulu isn't interested in saving the show. Lucifer's streaming deal is with Hulu so Netflix won't bother saving it.
patrick sanderson this trailer only shows the very beginning of the story which leads into some epic “vampire” shit. trust me the books are the most epic “Vampire” books I’ve ever read, way bette than the Strain although they were awesome too.
Is this based on the book? Because it's a great book, they would need 5 seasons to tell the story properly. Feels like it should be on Netflix, not on Fox.
It should be on Netflix, because Netflix usually stays true to the books. Fox, however, doesn't. I think it will be inspired by the books, given how a large part of the prologue has been ignored (the part with the sisters).
The Passage: Soon to be cancelled by Fox. The Network that makes it difficult for you to get into any new show because they don't know what shows are good. #savelucifer
@@questionnaires8924 Alot of shows get prematurely killed, just because they drop views in one season. Ofcourse i dont know anything about the economical side of that, but seems tough to just quit on them like that. So many shows i wished kept going. TVD n Supernatural was gold to me, mostly because of the brotherly love and chemistry in them, ofcourse they also had amazing co-stars n good scripts until the end ofcourse. But feels like thats on purpose to make fans annoyed :D
These books were f-ing EPIC. PLEEEASE oh god please don't screw this up, production team. To anyone even remotely interested: read the book it was based on, The Passage by Justin Cronin, before watching this show. That particular little girl is important to the world for a reason that this shit trailer doesn't even hint at. You don't even need to read the whole trilogy (though you will want to!) to be invested in the potential this could have. It's a ZOMBIE/VAMPIRE Apocalypse Extravaganza!
No, thank you. The last time some one suggested a book to me on interned and told that it's epic, I wanted to cut my veins and die so I could forget what I have red.
My thoughts exactly! This is only the first book in a trilogy, by naming the series after the first book it suggests that they're going to stay focused on the first book and by the the looks of it, only the beginning and not the main body of the story which is where we learn just how important Amy is. It appears they don't even hint at how special she is here, like the scene at the Zoo in the book. Ok rant over haha
When they advertise it as a zombie(or something close) but most of it is drama about love and family cause it's cheaper. No wonder no news on a new season.
Maybe this kid has immune to the deases that they talking about,, and maybe she's the only one in the whole world.. Remember the movie the girl with all the gifts ,, I think this is the beginning..
The books were amazing. The casting of the characters got me really worried, Wolgast is not AT ALL what I had imagined and neither Amy. ("Let's get the hell out of here", really?!). Also, like others pointed out - the information might just be missing in the trailer, maybe it got changed up; but in the books she got actually infected and freed, which makes the government chase them. I don't think FOX really cared about making an adaption worthy of the books and I strongly believe it is not the right channel to have picked up such source material, but that's just my gut feeling. It could be a Dark Tower 2.0 disaster.
And in the books Amy is such an adorable 6 year old. There are a lot of great kid actors.. couldn't they, for the first episodes or something, cast an actual 6 year old?
@@razerhead9489 they get her to infect her. Wolfgast bonds with her (since he remembers how his child died) and after they infect her, they call him up, informing him, that she is dying. He goes to see her, and when she awakens 3 days later, they escape, while the 12 also escape and spread the virus
TheMrbignich128 not even close dude. They renewed for season 6 and the creator has said that they have plans for at least 7 seasons. So it’s gonna be around for at least 3 more years.
I suppose this means the last of us may have actually ripped off those books. Though for all we know this film then stole some ideas back from that game.
I listened to the trilogy when they first came out. since then I've relistened 3 more times. One of the best books ive ever read. Not thrilled with the first episode but will watch.
SPOILER ALERT! I love the trilogy this series appears to be based on. However, I'm already disappointed by the changes to the initial premise. People are getting upset already about why do they need THAT girl with a pandemic going on. Sigh - in the book there was no pandemic. The government agency wanted Amy because she was abandoned, not on the books in any social service agency so she could "disappear". Special agent Zach Morris kept Amy from them for like 1 day. Then they both got caught. She was infected/experimented on. The pandemic happened AFTER the experiment subjects, the virals escaped their government cages. Zach Morris is really the narrator for a short part of the book. Amy is the main character- she is also younger, innocent. Technically she is Caucasian in the novel, but ethnicity matters for like 1 character & it isn't her.
yeah its like they ignored more or less everything about the books except the names and the 12 + the pandemic ......... quite honestly that amy is black well alright if they think they need to do that.... but amy is sadly not amy since they decided to make her idk a bubbly and rebelious teeny ? that kinda killed it for me :D
This is literally the story from the novels by Justin Cronin. The first book in the series, The Passage, was published BEFORE The Last of Us. Kids today... know nothing but video games.
the only thing that can even be considered the same between the two is guns, sick people, and a man being followed around by a small girl which is all either has going for them. xD
DanielHX Elderly man needs to get the girl that a shadow organisation needs(She's ofcourse the special one) and keeps her out of harms way whilst going there, once he get's there or before in this case he has a change of heart and decides to protect her and keep her safe. I'm not saying the story will be similar, but people will see overlapping things between the two. Yukon21 Also what was with that grumpy, kids today.... video games part? Calm down "old man" ;)
First half of the trailer looked promising but the second half was just meh. Like, why do they go on a nation wide manhunt for that one girl? They literally said "we need to find a child without a family". That child isn't the only one in the world without a family. I was thinking cool, a pandemic show but it's just the typical "guy on the run from the government with child" type of story. Very disappointing. Will not be watching.
I watched the show. The manhunt began AFTER they had already infected her with the disease and she become special! Like its funny how people complain about the entire series being in the trailer then get upset when they dont understand why certain things arent explained in the trailer! LOL!
@@laurencameron3150 First of all, the trailer made it look like they were hunting that specific girl for no good reason and it wasn't explained in the trailer so stop trying to make me look like a fool just because they made a dumb trailer. Second of all, that still doesn't change the fact that it's just another generic "guy on the run from the government"-esk story. Third of all, go fuck yourself! LOL!
hmmm... ok.i understend both positions. but what i dont understend that if they need a homeless child so badly to save the humanity why dont they find another child instead of wasting precious time and resources on searches runaways....
TwilightSunXXIV umm that's different. The last of us Ellie was the ONLY known immune that was currently alive. In this they literally can ise any kid in the world, but they need one without a parent so they can expirement on the child.
TwilightSunXXIV, oh if she is the only child they can use, it wouldt be so stupid. but they think that their cure wont progress in the child. so the exactly words they say that "they need i child without parents for illigal experiments. so nobody missed her."
So she is the only match in a country of over 300 million? GTFO of here. Find another kid even in other countries too. This is a global pandemic. Many countries will be lining up if a kid is to help save the world.
Jonathan Rees No, I have not read the books, a fact that doesn't change anything at all. A planet of a couple of billions depends on one little girl to save them. Please.......
chillout1109 Amy is special. She endure a tough start to her life but encounters and has lasting effects on people during her abduction that return later in the story. She has a strange presence. The books are great you should give them a read.👍
I loved it too, although I think not everyone will: it is a little bit long sometimes and not everyone will like these parts. I wonder if I need to hurry and finish the last 2 books of the trilogy before the show starts.
The books were amazing! Justin Cronin is hands down the best author that I have ever read. I sincerely hope that they stay true to the story line, but we all know how that typically goes..... I'm excited none-the-less. And just to clarify to those of you that haven't read the books; the story is not about them endlessly chasing a little girl. That is only the opening story line before everything goes to hell in a hand basket......
I read the trilogy a couple of years ago, awesome. I was hopeful for this project, but I can already see they didn't respect the source material. I still might watch out of pure curiosity.
Ok, if this child would grow up without knowing what they did to her but later in life realizing what happened, would she have any rights to go to court, do something about it? How could someone help this person? As it was, I assume not her choice and her health could/life would suffer.
They do crossover a bit in tone and genre, however the whole father and daughter bonding bit, which is so prominent in The Last of Us, is really only present in the introductory pieces of the The Passage books. Though the trailer, unless it is only covering the pilot episode, does appear to be implying the exact opposite, so I can understand why people are making the comparison.
Well this is something I never thought I'd come across 😂😂 lol, I know Lucifer is (was a tv show, the best infect) but the hashtag is very.... unsettling?😂😂😂
