The Passion of Saint Joan of Arc is a documentary that has been released on the centennial of the canonization of the Maid of Orleans (May 16, 1920). This brave young woman with a unique mission reminds us just how important it is that Jesus Christ be the King of our nation, of the entire world, and of our hearts. She carried out her mission in absolute fidelity and confidence in God’s will, revealed to her by her “voices”. Hers is not a life of mere heroism, but rather a model of holiness, of complete surrender to God’s will to the point of sacrificing her own life at only 19 years of age.
The Passion of Saint Joan of Arc is presented by Javier Paredes, Professor of Modern History. The documentary also features contributions from: His Excellency Marc Aillet, Bishop of Bayonne (France); Sr. Marie de la Sagesse, author of “Santa Juana de Arco. Virgen, Reina, Mártir”; Alain Olivier, President of the Our Lady of Bermont Association (France); Philippe de Villiers, Founder of “Puy du Fou” Theme Park; Margarita Torres, Professor of Medieval History; Fr. Jacques Olivier, Author of Prophéties et prédictions de Jeanne d’Arc; Jorge Fernández, Former Internal Affairs Minister (Spain); Jacques Tremolet de Villers, Lawyer and author of Jeanna D’Arc: le procès de Rouen.

What makes Joan's passion and martyrdom so powerful is that she DIDN'T ask God to get her out of her situation, but she DID ask Him for the Grace to not only face it, but also to endure it. That's what made all the difference.

To no end? Is that noble? I hear your limited understanding, but what if now I ask for relief from my situation, that I might give some relief to the suffering?

She was probably schizophrenic. Or perhaps she was indeed lying and took advantage of the opportunities that war brings. And would have lost it all had she continued denying. Remember back then people thought differently. They would die for religion without thinking twice. Martyrdom was absolutely welcomed. People chose to burn at the stake over very trivial things. In order to guarantee a place in heaven. In a society that was to that point 1000000% immersed in religion and would never contemplate anything other than the complete veracity of everything in the bible. She recanted because she was lying and simply saw an opportunity to make a name for herself and her family in the war and she did, she also became a noble, and them when she could win nothing else she found a way to live and told the truth that she was lying to very religious people; she was probably a very good conwoman and had very good knowledge of the Bible . Then she thought about it and realised that if she survived she would have been discredited in France by the English; that might change the way the war would play out by increasing English morale(Hardly because they were under the most incompetent leadership in the history of the country or at least tied since Richard II) , lose it all in France including the King’s Favour , her family would lose it as well, so she chose the only way possible Martyrdom and to become a saint and imortal in the eyes of every French. It’s a choice almost everyone in her position of being considered a heretic made back in those times. To be martyred, even Sir Thomas under Henry VIII because he wouldn’t sign a piece of paper. Or the hundreds under Henry’s daughter Mary because they wouldn’t say something in public and then worship in private as they wish. So you see. Martyrdom was the go to choice. It created a legend. And many times made you immortal and a saint. And the church did take care of your family

What is so special is that she is the final LORD's goat atonement sacrifice of Yom Kippur for the sins of the world. Joan has fulfilled the commandments of Jesus on our behalf, then she died a horrific sacrificial death to seal the deal for all eternity. "I AM [Je suis] a good Christian." -- Virgin Daugther of God. "Jehanne la Pucelle. Enfant/Fille de Dieu." -- archangel Michael. Joan burned so that you and I don't have to. Now we remain in the love of Jesus because Joan kept Jesus' commandments for us.

One thing that I would like to add is that Joan had an incredible amount of humility. For sure, she would've heard the prophecy that France would be lost by a woman, and thereafter restored by an armored maiden from the Lorraine Marshes. But she could never have imagined that SHE would be the maiden prophesied about.

That was VERY similar to the Blessed Virgin Mary, who would ask herself and wonder, " when will I see that beautiful creature who will be the mother of Our Lord (the Messiah)?!? She did not know it would be herself!!

I first heard of Joan of Arc at an early age and was very impressed with her story and was emotionally impacted by her having been burned alive. Now, I’m old and knowing more am even more impressed with her. Her courage, her goodness, maturity and her great spiritual capability. It seems like she was an already accomplished spiritual being who took birth in this world just for the sake of love and truth, a real saint.

- Joan of Arc is a heroine known to the four corners of the world. This young girl fought and she has sacrificed her life for a cause that she believed to be just. She has shown exemplary bravery, an iron will and fidelity to her faith, the King and her land. His admirable fight and his tragic end touch all the hearts and make some tears flow. One can only bow to this figure at the symbol noble and legendary. His story should inspire every human being whatever his skin color or religion, his social level or place of life. Joan of Arc is an icon and a Saint for the eternity. She will be perhaps recognized and considered in the future as a universal heritage. (Google Translation)

She was a wonderful, amazing woman, who was betrayed for political reasons. For the French it was not expedient that she be allowed to grow up and have children. They wanted a martyr and the English helped her become one. Next to the Virgin Mary, she is probably the most beloved woman in history. People like Mark Twain and Arthur Conan Doyle adored her. She was incredible in all aspects of her being.

Jesus Christ betrayed Joan of Arc into the hands of the enemy. Jesus is the indifferent Levite husband of his concubine wife Joan of Arc (Judges 19). Jesus locked Joan outside the gates to the city of Compiegne, France where she was ravished slowly to death by evil men, ravenous Burgundian (Benjamite) wolves, the Sons of BELIAL.

In the same way, years before, Mary Mother of our LORD would've been familiar with the prophet Isaiah's prophecy that "A virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and His Name shall called Immanuel, which means 'God with us." Mary possessed more than enough humility to not even consider that SHE could be the Virgin mentioned in Isaiah's prophecy.

The Virgin Joan of Arc received her ANNUNCIATION from the archangel Michael. Joan would soon give birth to a son she would name, the sacred kingdom of France, the Tribe of Judah of the New Covenant. Joan travailed in labor pains to give birth to this son (Revelation 12). Joan of Arc was totally illiterate so she would not have read the Bible.

Mark Twain thought his book about Ste. Joan his best. While I don't agree, he was correct in acknowledging that she was simply well, formidable. In 2015, Daniel N. and I visited Azincourt for the 600th anniversary of the British victory there. That too must have been instrumental in showing Joan that something needed to be done. Having visited a couple of times the tower where Joan was condemned, and seen the venue of her burning, I remain in awe of her. Nowadays, I pray to her -- in my case in the best French I can muster.

The fortress and the towers in Rouen, where Jehanne la Pucelle was accused of heresy, were all demolished by Henry IV of France. The French aristocracy of the period was afraid that the English would have tried again to retake the fortress . ( they never did ) In the 19th century , a new tower was constructed on the site and this is the one which is shown today . Also, the exact area where Jehanne la Pucelle was burned at the stake , is not known, since in 1431, the old market place was outside Rouen' city walls and no houses were around that particular site. This was typical of the 15th century, the market place would often be outside the gates of a city, a large area was needed and pastures for all the animals. Do not worry about your ''French'' since Jehanne la Pucelle was speaking a Barrois dialect , from Lorraine including a Germanic dialect since she was in Tull, Holy German Empire in 1428. The city is now call Toul . That is why they were making fun of her ''french'' when she arrived at Chinon and in Poitiers, in 1429 and later, at the trial in 1431.
@RayB1656
@RayB1656 2 года назад
@@johnearly7087 This is not known about William Wallace. However, Jehanne la Pucelle certainly knew Robert the Bruce since the Robert the Bruce March was playing as she entered Orléans in 1429, once the English forces had departed the area. Also, her personal guard/escort was Scottish , not French. About 70 Scottish knights and as many Scottish archers. The 12,000 Scottish troops played an important role on French soil during the Hundred Year War. Numerous historians believes that the Scots probably saved France.
@RayB1656
@RayB1656 Год назад
@@secretcat5144 What is wrong with you ? It is not ''elle'' ! Do you know why she was called Jehanne la Pucelle during her life time and not Jeanne d'Arc ?? We all know that Jehanne la Pucelle was speaking Medieval French with a heavy accent that is why they were making fun of her, before the trail and during the Rouen' trial. She was NOT speaking langue d'oil , that was during the upper Medieval Period , not during the 15th century. She spoke a few dialects of Lorraine. Especially, she was in Tull ( Toul, today ) in 1428 (archbishop of Metz ) to annul a marriage promise which was accepted by her father. Nommez les sources historiques !!
