According to me the most essential part of chess training should be the endgames. Many people think endgames just help you win the endgame for some reason which is absolutely not true. Endgame helped me improve all aspects of my game including the opening. It's only endgames which helped me stop making aimless moves as a beginner and it's endgames which helped me win games against some 1600s who never made a tactical mistake. The most important skils in chess are analysis and calculation and studying endgames is the most important method to do it. Also openings are totally useless upto a certain level. Even if you emerge with a slight disadvantage it doesn't matter upto a certain rating level. I used to be that guy that used to memorise lines in the Sicilian thinking I'll be able to play like a GM in few years and did many tactics. It never worked. Yes I got same rating points because of the tactics but that doesn't mean my play became better. Whenever they was no tactic I used to be just as awful as I was before. It was only after taking endgames seriously that I understood what exactly one should do in chess to not be awful. After 6 months into exclusive endgame study I wasn't the same player anymore. I was noticing difference in me playing. Chess is an extremely complex game. I think I know just like 1% of chess and I've been playing and studying for years.

I'm around 1800 FIDE, but I find a lot of good advice on each of these videos. Looking forward to seeing more and more. If I take up chess improvement seriously, I'll join Dojo plan for sure!

Absolutely loving what you guys have done in developing this curriculum. Could go on and on about each aspect and how great it is (I'm actually in education). Anyway though, when is the How to Make 1500 video coming?! Dying to watch this! Thank you all!

OMG, 3 tempi is worth a pawn. I don’t know how to take advantage of that knowledge, but I’ve never heard it before, so I love it.

Great analysis, my favorite so far, wow ! I’d pay for a course by GM Kraai named Time and Space in chess or something like that.

Do we have to buy the recommended books, or all the study material and the exercises are provided by chessdojo?
@ChessDojo

Some of the material is provided (games, sparring positions, etc.) but the books are not provided

@@ChessDojo thanks for your prompt reply! I just wanted to clarify that we are not obligated to buy the books, in order to follow the program.
@ChessDojo

You are not obligated. The program includes a list of tasks that are suggested for improvement. Books are just one of the tasks

Then what about Sicilian? Isn't that opening losing a lot of time?

3:35 Watching youtube videos about weird opening systems (GothamChess and Remote Chess Academy) has made me worse.
