This is a long comment- The remote start feature in Mazda and some other manufacturers irritates me to no end. As it stands, this feature cuts the vehicle engine and battery, immediately upon opening the door, for security reasons. But this also means that certain times a year, when it's too hot or too cold in my region, I'm causing 2x the usual wear on my spark plugs and other parts. This is to say, for every 1 time I want to enter my car during a very hot or very cold day, I have to start my car two times. Once remotely then once again immediately after closing the cabin door. I think that remote start should only cut the car off, if the door is opened *without* the key fob in proximity. If the door is unlocked with the door handle sensor while the key is in that 2-3ft proximity, then the vehicle should remain on if for no other reason than to preserve the parts involved in the ignition process. I was also informed that, if they didn't have the vehicle cut off completely upon the door being opened, and someone manages to break in without the key fob while remote start is active, they can successfully drive away. If that's the case, then maybe replace the existing security measure for one that requires the registered key to remain in proximity for the vehicle to remain operational. Added benefit: If this security measure is put in place, and a thief uses a device to copy the signal of the key fob and trick the vehicle into thinking the fob is in proximity, the device would have to remain on during the entire drive to escape with the vehicle successfully. This signal can be tracked by law enforcement, so if the signal must remain active for the duration of each drive, the authorities can find its last known location with relative ease, once you have reported it as stolen. Solution: While the key is in the vehicle, you should be able to receive battery alerts from the vehicle your key is programmed to, so you can avoid a dead key in the middle of a drive.

To Mazda USA : I consider the MX-30 drivetrain with Rotary engine to be a winner. Mazda and Mazda USA did an almost non-existent promotion campaign. Doug Demuro (for instance) had no idea about the Rotary engine option in his review. I agree with people who complain about the price and I have the simplest of solutions : #1. Dust off the Mazda B2000 tooling and make an Extra Cab, 6 foot bed, 4x2 pickup. By extra cab I DO NOT MEAN 4 doors, I'm referring to the jump seat/room for toolboxes, luggage and/or groceries size back there. #2. Include only the engine/battery/motor electronics in the pickup. The electronics in too many EVs, including the MX-30, are overdone. #3. Educate consumers. #4. Get ready to ramp-up production. Pickups, even with the changes since the last B2000 don't cost as much to manufacture, are lighter and finally; The Ford F-150 I.C. Engine Pickup became an overall bestseller because people finally began to appreciate the usefulness of a pickup.
