The path to recovery for a man with burns on 90 percent of his body 

A droplet of hot oil touched my arm and I got a blister and I literally cried like a baby.The amount of courage and optimism this couple has is so beautiful.

I saw my late husband in this, he had full thickness burns to 80% of his body. Also a helicopter crash 19 years ago. I miss him still. Dave, I have the utmost respect for you. What courage you have.

Having been burned myself over 40% of my body at age six I can truly understand to the pain and struggles. I thank God every day for the Shriners Hospital in Galveston for the unbelievable care and support. You are such an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your story.

Oh my goodness! That’s an amazing recovery! My husband in ‘86 was in an explosion and drug induced coma for two months. He had a 3% survival expectancy. 73% 2nd and 3rd degree burns. It’s a huge healing process. You sir are a living proof of a miracle! God Bless you!❤️

My mom died from 90% burns, after 7 days...my dad paid someone to kill her. It’s with my utmost, extreme respect I have for your intestinal fortitude to fight back. Man, the absolute strength of that guy is incredible. I'd have stayed at the "I want to die" point. He's a hardier person than I think I could be in that situation.

I look at videos like this to realize how blessed I am. I was in a car accident 30% body burned top of my scalp and right side of shoulder neck and back and burn recovery is very hard and I am only 30% multiple surgeries skin graft and I'm still going through my recovery it's been 2 and a half months since accident and understand I have a ways to go just wanted to say God Bless you good luck on rest of journey.

He is an amazingly strong man. All of my prayers are with him.

Wow, what an incredible story, I'm currently in the hospital recovering from pneumonia and severe sepsis and still dealing with the pain. I watched this video because I needed some inspiration and his story definitely gave that to me. I'm in nowhere near as bad of pain as he was and for him to fight through it, especially with no pain medication, I don't know how he did it but it definitely made me feel better. I'm so glad to hear he's doing so much better now. I just want him to know that he's touching the lives of people he will never know he helped but he truly is an inspiration and I really do wish him and his family the absolute best.

Being Burned @ 53% Of 2nd & 3rd Degree Burns Myself, I Begged For Death. Death Doesn't Come Knocking Unless Your Card Is Dealt. I Got To Work In The Same Burn Unit Many Years Later. And On The Board In The Hallway, Listed All The Patients Names. I Saw?My Birth Surgeons Name. So I Knocked On His Door & He Said Come In. He Said Are You My Nurse. I Said Not Today But I Saw Your Name On The Board. And You Used To Be My Burn Surgeon. He Looked @ My Badge & Said: Was That Your Name @ The X? I Said No. He Said Don't Tell Me Then. Just Just Tell Me The Date. I Said 7-12-83. He Said: Aahhh The Gas Hot Water Tank Exploded BC You Took Gasoline Into Bathroom & The Hot Water Tank Exploded...I Started Crying BC This Dr. Remembered Everything About His Patients...

God willing my family won't allow me to suffer like that if I'm ever incapacitated

That is amazing, I cant even fathom someone surviving 90 percent burns, that is a miracle.

My cousin passed away yesterday, with 87% burnt from gas exploded in her kitchen 2 weeks ago. She wasn’t lucky to be with such good doctors and kind nurses. Seeing her suffered from the low hygienic condition, I felt very angry and helpless, all they cared was how much money a patient got donated every day. Sad! She’s in a better place now, only her daughter suddenly becomes an orphan, her dad hung himself few years ago 😥

Dave is a super strong man, and all the staff in the hospital including Drs they are angels, because we would be nothing with out them....

You better hope you never have to experience this!! The pain is nothing that you will ever feel!! Its hard describing how it litera feels. Watching it is painful and cringy enough. Their real warriors to make it everyday physically and survive

This happened to a woman name, Lauren Manning 911 incident She suffered so much, but her family supported her and she wrote a book about it. Her father had been a marine, and I guess she learned about being strong.

If I had burns over 90 percent of my body I would just rather die because the pain and agony that you would go through and then have to deal with permanent scarring all over the body I wouldn’t be able to deal with it
