I know I have commented before about how tight your playing is. But really, it has inspired me. After watching you play, I pay so much more attention to my sloppiness, but in a good way: I'm noting it to correct for it. Thanks for providing such an excellent model.
Honestly, it sounds a lot like my EQD Arrows and the Arrows being pushed by a clean Blues Driver. I don't get the hype of OD pedals. Seems every few months someone creates a must have magical unicorn. I'm not saying the pedal sounds bad, it just sounds like every other OD. I run two OD's, both low to mid gain, I run two fuzz pedals, one for some extra beef the other for a thick drive.
Been there, done that, got one (and the T-shirt). Got the pedal when it first came out - the tone and gain structure is well set and truly seductive. And it's bloody loud!
Thanks for the demo with humbuckers! I reckon strats sound awesome through a lot of pedals but some I have tried just don't work with humbuckers. Love your videos as always and remarkable playing! Cheers.
Your absolutely right about that boost side Chris, had my Dane pedal since the release date and I never play without the boost on, it’s like Pandora’s box!
I have one on the way just got my hands on a purple telecaster from fender custom shop Andertons special order on the spec of peters own one and I have to say it’s a great playing guitar 🎸 so it will sound awesome with the Dane, love your videos Chris
OMG for sure that pedal is great! But I bet if you or Pete plug your guitars into a damn brick, it will sound killer. That's why Pros have their own pedals. Killer playing!
I've owned em all, and currently have the ThorpyFX Peacekeeper, Vemuram Jan Ray, Analogman KOT, and Lovepedal OD11 on my board. Of them all, the Peacekeeper is my favourite. It is the most amp like OD pedal I've ever played. The EQ section lets you dial in true transparent drive (if that's your thing), bass boosted, treble boosted, or mid boosted tones. So not only is it the most amp-like drive pedal I've ever played, but it also has one of the best EQ section. To get to the point... what differences should I expect between The Dane and the Peacekeeper?
I feel like you always review gear that piqued my interest! It's the love of that super articulate dynamic ... You and Matt Scofield are my strat tone gurus... (honorable mention to Mick Taylor from #thatpedalahow)
The used prices on these are crazy but honestly I want one so bad $270 new $320 on basically eBay and reverb. But this pedal is simple to use looks great and I'm a huge fan of Pete
when you mute it lets singles strings ring out harmonically and doesnt let the magnetism effect each string the same way therr is a lot more going on with muting than you know pick attack harmonics resonence and more are effected in this way so actually he meant it more!!!
Hi Chris, I know this is an older video now but I'm doing my head in trying to work out whether to get this or the D&M Drive. I have only ever had another opinion come back and say they are both very different pedals and to be fair that doesn't totally come across through youtube like that. My question, if youd be so kind (having played them in person), are they close enough together that one should choose one or the other? Or, are they sufficiently different that both would sit well next to each other on the board? Given the prices, which would be the most versatile to get first in that case? Currently I have a SD Pickup Booster for clean boost; EHX Turnip Greens (Soul Food), TS-type multi-pedal, and Big Muff for dirt (with some amp/DI pedals as alternative OD pedals in reserve) - some streamlining of that end of the board would not be amiss. Longwinded I know, but I'd value your opinion. Sorry I missed you in Glasgow by the way...
@UCSC4VkEI_iPVnrrkWDIMmiA I'm after a combined boost drive pedal, I don't need 'metal' type distortion, just a nice, touch sensitive drive and a boost. What's your current favourite?
James Goddin Haven’t played the D&M in a VERY long time but they’re both fantastic pedals. The boost on the D&M is a little more Klon-orientated which would ordinarily be more to my taste if it wasn’t for the ‘Lows’ control on the Dane, which is incredible. I’d say the drive on the Dane is more to my taste as well, but the ability to flip the order on the D&M is a big plus. In short, you won’t go wrong with either. Both brilliant pedals 👌🏻
@@jamesgoddin8880 do you want a squire or a fender custom shop. keeley=sqire......thorpy =custom shop ! thorpy uses real audiophile componants and is of the highest standards keeley not so much
OK Chris, if you had to part with your hard earned cash, between this the KOT and the lovepedal amp 11 would you pick the dane?. I think I would it's bloody awesome mate and thanks for doing something a different with it 🎸👍
andrew broadhead Hmmm. Tough one. I’ll always be a dyed-in-the-wool KOT fan but both the Amp11 and Dane are strong contenders. My answer would probably be different on any given day to be honest - all three are fantastic pedals made by brilliant builders 👌🏻
@@ChrisBuckGuitar Chris, have you tried the Pantheon yet? It's based on the bluesbreaker circuit, like the king of tone, but it has lots of versatile options that change the gain structure and the clipping levels. Very cool pedal that isn't leaving my board anytime soon.
@@ChrisBuckGuitar I get it it's like being asked which one of your kids is your favourite, all equally fantastic but slightly different from one another. Thanks for the constantly inspiring videos Chris and I'm sure you'll be hitting 50000+ subs by this time next year. 🤞🎸
gdawgs101 I haven’t yet, actually. I’m a big fan of the Bluesbreaker (got an original on my board) but I’ve yet to have chance to spend any time with a Wampler pedal. That said, I’m really digging the Snouse BlackBox at the moment which is based off the BB1 with a few extra tweaks/options here and there. From what I’ve heard though, the Pantheon sounds great 👌🏻
Hi, Chris, my name is mariano from Argentina. I want to buy an overdrive pedal I am between the Dane and the vs royal flush or another one that you recommend me. I have to buy just one, witch do you choose. Thank you 🙏🏻
@@joshfowler8360 Haven't tried the Dane but I got the big-box Amp11 (which has more gain and headroom/volume compared to the standard one) about a month or so ago and I'm very happy. I'd like to try the dane but the Thorpy enclosure is just obnoxious to me, no matter the sound plus it's more expensive. You can't go wrong with either, I'm pretty sure everyone would be satisfied with either one of them.
I mean . . . it sounds good, but show me a pedal you couldn't make sound good. It sounds a lot like things I have on my pedalboard, some "boutique", some standard. Also, how tasty was 10:35? It was _all the taste_
I think the pedal sounds really good as anything in Chris' hands tends to. I'll be honest though I really don't get this configuration. It doesn't really offer any advantages compared to your favourite OD sitting next to your favourite boost pedal other than maybe saving one output from your power supply. I don't really understand why the default dual pedal is an overdrive plus an independent boost.
besides its a thorpyfx and itl kick stuff off your board but ya id rather have a peace keeper one side and a warthog on the other but this is petes layout and hes a giging muscian
if you have this pedal and are wondering why it sounds like crap.... It's your amp my guess. I had this going through two HTR1's and it never got me on. I always felt like it was too thin, never could dial in a good sound, and just was all around VERY unhappy with it. I couldn't understand why everyone, even those who aren't gods like Chris and Pete could make the pedal sound good and I was starting to doubt myself as a player... Then I got my Mesa California Tweed.. now? This pedal is NEVER off. I think the problem is running the pedal through amps that cost less than the pedal itself might be the problem =P
Not "Everybody" is talking about this pedal. I use a Hot Rodded Fender Deluxe. 2 channels. One for rhythm one for soloing. No need for any pedals. I do have a Blues Driver to use with my mid-90's hot rodded Blues Junior. That is all. My Silhouette (HSH) with stock series/parallel switching gives me a very broad tonal pallette. No other pedals required.
Nick Taylor ...precisely! I instantly hate anything that colours the sound of a guitar beyond recognition and with Strats, that’s pretty much anything with the gain cranked. I’ve never liked the way in which single coils handle copious amounts of gain, hence dialing it into a spot where it sounds sweet and sustaining but still like my Strat. If it’s transparent enough to let the guitar’s character and dynamics in my playing come through, I’m onto a winner. Humbuckers on the other hand are a different kettle of fish, hence maxing the gain at the end of the video 👍🏻
