Yours is the only video where someone actually plans the piano, and we get to hear the actual sound we would hear wearing good headphones. Nicely done!
I'm buying an Eastar as a travel piano just to keep myself 'in tune' when I'm away from my home piano for a long time. I've been looking for something like this. Very informative! Thanks for your review!
Wow !!! The most informative and usefull overview video I ever seen - got idea for folding keyboard abt 20 years ago, even bought a Casio on triftstore to start that project... but didnt finish it.... Surprised by you - someone make it true in numerous ))) and you got it in collection (!!!) Thanks for sharing, bro !! Very useful info !
What can i say. I’ve just purchased the e10 just from your feedback and playing alone. Your passion is awesome and is telling me i need to play when I’m working away from home. Cheers dude
WOW!!!! Not only a great playing demo, with excellent descriptions of the action/feel and response, but you also took the time to describe what external gear you were using and how you were interfacing everything. Super helpful and informative. EVERY RU-vidr should take note. Don't just show off the gear, but take a moment to describe how you're hooking things up. I've been looking for something like this to interface to an iPad/iPhone and this seems just too perfect. I have a Wavestation I play live, and this and an iPad may just replace it. Easier to transport too. Many thanks!
I am looking forward to buying this piano from saudi arabia. I just bought roland fp30x from a music store yesterday - but i will return it back because of this video ❤️ I never played piano but I am really willing to learn - I hope someday you make step by step piano tutorials for beginners & I will watch day and night after buying same piano as yours
very informative review, thanks for not telling me that it is not the same as playing a $100,000.00 grand piano as so many pretentious pro are prone to saying.
I think this was the best video on travel keyboards I’ve watched. Why no one actually plays the keyboards in their review videos is beyond me. This gave me a good idea on the sound. You’re a wonderful player by the way! I really enjoyed listening to you play!!
Hi Kris, I have been watching your RU-vid channel for long time now I appreciate your honesty. I was looking to buy a portable 88 keyboard for a long time I finally i just order one because your honesty. This company's they should pay something because you deserve it. Without you i would order it. I just thoght you should know that & keep up the good work. Dawit from Australia.
I'm silly goose. This is an incredibly thorough review and a great comparison of the Veetop vs Eastar. Thank you for your demos and opinions! Ugh, I can't pick!
Very good review, Kris. Not to mention I love your skillful piano style! I ordered the one you reviewed but goes under a different brand name in my location. Thank you kindly.
Excellent! Excellent. I was wary about durability on these fold ups. How have they held up over time? If I can get an 8lb fold up to replace my Yamaha P-120 or Roland FP, that is a game changer and relieves my aching back and wallet. God Bless your sister my friend!!!
Thank you very much for this very comprehensive presentation! What is the brand name and model of the piano you are testing with your ipad? Thank you very much in advance!
A video like this makes me think the r/piano subreddit is full of snobs because they talk about foldables like this one as if they're absolute garbage not worth the time. But this demonstration and others makes me think this one is pretty good for the price. My only issue is this model and ones like it seem to come from the same manufacturer in China and get sold under different brand names with slightly different button layouts and features and I don't know which one to get.
I don't play, but wanted to learn to make jingles. I truly hope the company sponsor you or paid you or made upgrades to their piano on your behalf. You're a good salesman.
I was waiting for the part that you talked about the bluetooth latency but you didn't go on with more informations.May I know if you were using the and testing the bluetooth function between the iPad and the keyboard all this while or it was via the cable ? Is the latency totally acceptable during performance ? Last question, is the music sheet holder really that insecure because I am using a 10.5" iPad and if drop on stage while performing from a standing keyboard stand height can spell disaster like a crack screen. Please help me with your answers.
My suggestion to avoid chasing for that troublesome pedal is to have a customised platform build around it to provide a bigger surface area on the ground or if it does not have a rubber pad underneath the pedal, put four rubber pads on it, and you may add a rubber or wool mat below it for added friction/resistance and you can pin the other end of the mat underneath the chair you are sitting on to avoid getting dragged during use. Those are the things I did with the kick pedal of my electronic drum kit as I get a similar problem which happens to all contraptions that's being moved around on any instrument that doesn't have a sturdy support to latch on to.
I don't have problems anymore chasing those sustain pedals sliding or running away, those round or square thin silicone rubber pads for your hot pans and kettles in the kitchen are of great help, put one under your pedal and presto! . . . they don't run away anymore!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
The new Fverey is the best folding 88. Love easy Bluetooth MIDI without delay but need wired headphones or speaker as final destination. Mini sustain jack. Hope it helps traveling keys😄😄
Hello' thanks for this complete presentation. Please, could you give me the name of the Android applications you use in this eastar's demo ? I am French, and don't speak english very well ! I hope you respond tout me. Best regards from France😊, Marie-Laure
Bought a carry on 88 white Not happy with the texture, It doesn't feel like real piano keys 👎( Wanted one in black , I appreciate their effort designing it,I have even recently traveled with the white one! But I truly need and wanted this exact same 88 folding piano! And,Every since I've purchased the carry on, I watch this you tube post just to remind myself of this musical joy!).. All the best!.... 🎹 🎵
@@MajinJr I wonder if there’s anyway you could send me a picture of your dad and I could do a side-by-side comparison. Thank you so much for watching my video my friend.
It’s very responsive, but you have to have the right camera connection kit because some camera connection kits can cause Latency on your iPad if you’re gonna just use it as a regular keyboard, with the onboard sounds it is very responsive I highly recommend it
Awesome video! I just got the same folding keyboard. My next step is connecting it to the iPad so that it can midi through it without Bluetooth. Can you share details of the connection such as the connecting adapter into the iPad and all? Thanks
@@MrLightning20 I have android phone and tablet, but how exactly do you connect it? Do you use the charging cable that comes with the piano, and connect it to a female USB adapter that you hook up to your tablet, where it works just like if you were going to use a midi ports or usb to host port? If possible I'd like to use it with Synthesia to learn songs, so currently charging my laptop to see if I can get that to work. But if I can do the same with my tablet that would be a lot easier.
A travel piano with lithium-ion rechargeable battery can be taken on a flight. Don't want to put it in the overhead compartment even if there is room since many come with a soft case that won't take the stress from people shoving their luggage in. In a tight economy seat many of these can probably fit under the seat. I traveled with a violin in the overhead before. The case has enough padding to prevent damage from other carry-on bags.
Since it doesn't have midi or USB to host port. How exactly are you hooking it up to your tablet? Both the phone I have and the tablet I have is android and use USB C-ports. Once my laptop has been charged I'm gonna try and hook up the power cable that comes with it. Seeing if I can use Synthesia with it. If that works is it the same deal for hooking it up to a tablet or even a phone I just need to get an adapter cable? I also tried searching for the apps that you use to change what piano sound it makes and turns out android no longer supports ravenscroft and could not find pneuma either just a radio player with the same name. Do you have recommendations for other apps that I can try and see if there are android versions of? I'd love to be able to switch from grandpiano sound to an old-time western sound for when I learn how to play some ragtime songs again after not having played for over a decade.
So, its been a year since you did these vids on this folding Keyboard. How do you feel about it now? Would be nice to see a follow-up review after a year of using it...
hi can you tell me if it is possible to remove the batterie. When you go on an airplane you arent allowed to but batteries in your suitcase only the handluggage
For your iPad you’re gonna have to get a camera connection kit and a USB cable and I suggest a really good Bluetooth speaker with a mini jack cable if you want the best piano sounds please download Ravenscroft 275 iOS
Kris, good comparison. You mention that the Eastar will fit under the seat in front of you on an airplane. Just the one seat or does it take up the space of two seats (what’s it’s width)? Also do you take it in the bag you showed? I thought airlines insisted on instruments being in a hard case and what you showed is definitely a soft case. Grateful for you input. Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching my videos my friend I hope you subscribe😁😁😁 The keyboard can actually fit underneath just one seat the seat that you sit on on the airplane make a fit underneath it what I really suggest is if you sit at the window seat it could lean up against the walls of the airplane cause it might stick out just a little bit
@@KMNKeyboardVault Hi Kris, Sorry to ask another question but I want to connect my iPad to my Yamaha DGX-670 but not sure about the cabling. My iPad is an iPad Air 4th Generation and the keyboard has a USD to Host connection. Therefore I know I need a USB C to USB B cable but those I find on Amazon say the device needs to support OTG FHNCTION. Everything I read on the internet states that the iPad does not support OTG. How do you connect? What type of cable do you use?
Kris hello i need some help as to buying the keyboard im going thru walmart but they canceled my order no charged was made but can you tell me who you bought it from
There's no debating the usefulness of the ipad for pianists and keyboardists, as much as we all want to stay off our screens! But most portable keyboards just leave out basic midi controls and master screen, to the point where midi control have just been delegated off the piano and onto the screens we already have -portable tablets. Or reserved for only for premium stage and studio instruments.
Can we take such a long bag inside a plane cabin? This seems wider than what is allowed. If yes, could I take an additional carry-on bag? I travel all the time (internationally), but this time I want to take a music instrument with me. I have a heavy 88 keyboard that I would need to check in, that would cost me probably the same like taking such a portable one with me. Lemme know. Great video and demo.
Yes actually a lot of airlines offer a personal item and a carry-on so your piano is your personal item and your extra bag is your carry-on these pianos can actually fit underneath Your seat on an airplane but what I suggest is that you sit at a window seat not an aisle where people can trample all over it
Did I understand this correctly: you hooked the sound output into the ipad, ipad output to speaker, ipad does sound processing of piano input in realtime, and the result is you get a close to real piano sound instead of the piano's native artificial sound? As in, the output still is real time not something you layed over prerecorded video later on? Which model is this Eastar? Thanks for commenting.
I had one of those foldable Keyboards for one Week. I'm inclined to order one again later- but which cables did you use to connect your iPad with the Keyboard, and which Sound application did you use? I use an Android Tab Samsung A with usb-c Port. I'm only interested in three sounds: hammond organ, Fender Rhodes and concert Piano. I'm looking for Android Apps featuring these sounds...
I basically use a camera connection kit for connection to my iPad and there’s different Apps that I use mostly, Piano the Ravenscroft 275 is good also, I use a lot of the Korg apps
can anybody please respond : I want to buy the finger dance piano but I need to make sure that it can plug into Logic Pro X 10, does anybody know if it does and how to do it ? thanks
Hi, now that it has been a year more - did you find any beginner piano that will be portable and allowed in economy class hand carry airlines? I want something to learn with as a beginner and will last a lifetime - same with roland fp30x but I want it to be way lighter - either synth or real weighted piano. Pls help ❤
Hi yes this is the only piano that I found that is the best for airline actually I just used it last week to fly to North Carolina and it worked perfectly
My mom bought that folding piano for me, I don't like sound output of the piano, we're returning because we wanted to take for outdoor playing and we know we wont be able to hear this in the park when cars are going by. We have iPad pro but we wont be taking that with us, and have it stolen. It was a nice try, but mom got the Roland GoKeys instead and that might work.
1.) One also concern is - if you take this to your gigs - can you use a normal X piano stand to hold it in place while playing? or do you always do need a flat surface? 2.) Changing that built-in battery how hard is it to replace? Is it easily replaceable in any battery shops?
The problem with most of these folding pianos (with the exception of the Voyage) is that they only fold in half, which makes their folded length about 25 inches - beyond the maximum length allowed for a carry-on item on just about any airline. Can you chance no one noticing? Sure, but you also run the risk of having to leave it behind, because most of these keyboards have a lithium battery backup (which you cannot put in a checked bag). The beauty of the Voyage is that it folds in 4 pieces rather than two, making this a non-issue.
