I used to do some automotive paint work and I was told by the expert that primer will hold moisture so it’s a good to paint over the primer with a layer of top layer paint. It might not be important but just a little tip. Love watching you’re videos even though I don’t own a Jeep haha.
I definitely appreciate the advise... I decided on primer for a few reasons.. one... I used it to cover tht damaged section... Thts been covered for about 2 years now... and u occasionally see an old ride Thts just primed... and Thts the color they run... I figured I was being smart 😂😂😂 well... lucky use.. dry weather... I’ll cover it next time I pull the cover off... thank you for watching man! We need to get u a 4x4 so u can come wheel with us
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD I have a 1991 square body Chevy suburban with 3in lift and 33in tires. I know it wouldn't be a match up the jeeps but it would be fun to join maybe in the future. Thanks bro
Thanks to videos like yours in was able to avoid body damage to my JL tub. I ripped the stock bumpers off immediately. I'm running the Rusty's corners but I didn't install the middle. Installed a frame cover instead. It came out great. Keep the awsome videos coming.
I love the look of these. Much more finished. But in a wet, salty, winter environment, I'm too worried about moisture getting trapped behind there and rusting out my tub eventually.
Tht totally makes sense.. I mean... u could always use nutserts for all the holes and routinely take it off and check it... we are lucky to live in a dry climate... rust is never our first thought... for something to rot with rust here takes a long time of neglect.
JL LIFE OFFROAD Mo! You’re a genius. Haha. I literally never considered taking it off. Depending on the bumper I do, that might not be a horrible idea.
I had the same issue you had with Misty’s that the center section was a bit too tight. Over all I’m 100% happy with the product because after all what aftermarket install doesn’t require a little modification
Crazy how hers was to tight and mine was way loose... I wish my jeep wasn’t so damaged... would give me a better idea if it was true.. that al tubs weren’t created equal lol
Must be nice having sunny warm days, VA weather sucks! Well have 1 beautiful day and about 5 rainy days until the next nice day lol I'm glad you made a video on the fascia I'm thinking about running it on the JK since I'm bumper less now and may frame chop in the future
To be fair... nice weather in NM... typically involves windy ass days. I hate the wind... ruins so much... not fun to be in... impossible to film in... I figure this is cheap insurance to keep the integrity of the pinch seam... and it looks good... could always strip and color watch it also...
They don’t always go as smoothly as one would hope... but 🤷♂️ I’m glad to see everyone supporting it thou. I almost decided to not even do the install on this
Cool but man Little Rock’s sand and water is gonna get trapped in there over time. I think putting a few drain holes right where the body line is would be a good idea.
Definitely something someone could easily add... I’m not to concerned about rust... we live in a dry climate... I’ll pull it off at some point just to keep an eye on it... but it takes serious neglect to let things get rust rotted down here.
Thanks for the tip... guess I’ll be adding some more touch up in the future. Didn’t think it was gonna be a problem... my previous body damage was primer (almost 2 years) And seeing other rides primed as the paint job.. but appreciate the feedback.. I’ll slap some black on it next time I pull it off
Cool addition! Since you don't have a die grinder, when you go to HF to get your new jack stands, you should pick up a 4 1/2" flap disc for your angle grinder. I've done a lot of metal work and a flap disc does wonders. I made a video not too long ago where I showed off some interior handrails that I made for my parents. I used a flap wheel to blend the welds in to the parent metal, turned out really nice. They usually carry 35 grit up to 120. I usually get 40, 60 and 120. 09:08 Reminds me of some old snatch that was permanently burned in to my brain a long time ago while on a call. It was one of those nights where everything was going to hell and then I got to see that crap to top it all off. Ahhh memories....😳☹😖🤯🙈 I sent ya an email there, Captain Morgan.
P.S. I thought that I would look at your channel swag that you have a link for in the description but the link doesn't work. It says the site can't be reached. Just thought I'd let ya know.
Well... I’m guessing jack stands are gonna be hard to find at Hf for a hot minute... people are gonna be flooding in to replace em... manager told me the same.. “good luck finding a new set any time soon” so I went to auto zone and paid an extra $20 for a set of duralast... I’m always under the jeep on my weekend... I needed a set.. I use flap wheels when I’m working on metal... I just didn’t really feel it was needed for this project lol... but guess I could have done some over kill 😂😂😂
Was looking for something just like this, I was thinking I was going to have to get something made and here comes this video. Thanks mine is in order 🙇🏼
Great video.. just goes to show not every install is painless. I’m running Rustys tire Carrier on my JL. That product is a beast! Plus “I wanna be insta famous” so I can show off my favorite JL Life sticker 🤙🏻
Rusty makes a good tire carrier... definitely not the beefiest one thou 😉😂 but it’s been holding up great on Mistys Jeep! Appreciate you watching friend! Good luck in the giveaway! 😬😂🙌
I have been looking at installing the Rusty's rear Fascia on my JL and have been watching videos on the installs, but I can't seem to find a review of how it holds up after the fact. Mo, can you share any information on how well it holds up after being drug off rocks or drops? Thank you in advance and keep up the great work!
Great video Bro , it makes Bromance look refined and polished:) I love the tape in the deep socket idea ... It has saved me a little bit of sanity in the past...lol
It’s all about making tht illusion 🙌😂 Nothing more frustrating then tryna reach a nut or bolt somewhere ur hand dont fix... always so close, but never quite able to get it on... in... 😖 #ragemomemts
Nothing goes smoothly around here, LOL! Always hafta make some sort of adjustment or modifications. Love the look. Always hated how those corners were exposed. Great vid, bro!!👍🏻👊🏻🤘🏻
I can’t remember what one but I had an issue with a nutsert or two as well !!! I think it is good when you have to improvise a bit ... that is good stuff !!!
Thanks for the video. Good to see how you over come issues, teachable moments. Also wondering the manufacturer of your rear control arm/shock skid plates. I'm looking for some for my JK.
I thought about scraping the video due to all the issues I ran into... but thought... probably better it did... makes the install unique... and helps when others run into similar issues So my shock skids... they are rock hard 4x4... they seem to be holding up well... fitment is strange, but it fits.... Iv strongly been considering making new brackets to weld onto the axle out of 1/4 inch steel. This 1/8 stuff don’t cut it.
Great video, issues and all; we all have them in whatever we do. Looks like good protection on the corners of the body, but is there really any need for the center section? It's not tied to the corners, so probably doesn't provide any support, and it looks like that part of the body is pretty well protected by the bumper.
Correct.. the middle piece I feel is more for aesthetics for the part compared to being useful. I agree I felt like uploading the video in all its messy glory would still be beneficial to someone down the road experiencing the same issue as I did.. least I can provide some feedback to them how I solved it... 🙌
Thanks. My concern would be if I actually come down on the Fascia, It will not give and cause body damage up higher? Have you hit them yet coming down of any rocks/ledges? if so how well did everything hold up?
I have, but Thts not to say it wouldn’t… my experience with it so far has been positive… but I would encourage you to get a full size bumper if you worry it won’t give you the protection u the expect.
JL LIFE OFFROAD if you were able to get a socket back there, you could have used, maybe a metal rod, pipe, or maybe some wood, to get to the dent? Just an idea to get it to fit a little better.
More so swinging the hammer up there would of been a head ache.. But I agree.. could of helped.. but this piece is not coming off... I’m good with it 😂 honestly I hadn’t thought about the nutsert in the dent... until I drilled it...
With the right attitude, most jobs are pretty simple. The more u work on ur jeep the easier all of it gets! PLUS if u ever break on a trail u have some ability fixing urself.. offroad recovery’s are $$$$$
Perfect instal??? Is there such a thing? Lol. Maybe if you drop of at a shop and pick up later and drive away. REAL install Mo. Good stuff 👍👍 took a while to get this done?? Went thru 2 sets of tires!??
Nice job, looks great! Good white board explain. Mo video was perfect. Oh yea, I know you didn't say it here but "I wanna be Insta-Famous" Love Ya, keep them coming
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD truthful, this part should come factory on all Rubicon models and an option on the other models. . I haven't had this problem on mine. My road armor bumper seems to be doing the trick for me.
JL LIFE OFFROAD I’m in the process of getting a die grinder too, and a rivet nut tool. It was still a great video. Never saw this part before, didn’t know it existed.
Ahhaha yea.. those ones... mine were within the recall... I’m assuming HF gonna be our of jacks for a hot minute.... I’ll likely find something else.... I kinda need a set 😂
Yes, the billet silver one is a sport.. currently on 37s... We have regeared it to 4.56... recently added chromoly shafts... would like to truss it before we swap it... 😂🙌 thanks for always tuning in brother!
JL LIFE OFFROAD right on, thanks for the info, I’m running 33’s now and I thought the best I could do was 35’s. I’ll look into getting the gears and upgraded shafts so I can get to a 37 instead.
So which bumper you eventually using for your rig? is it the rusty's or the cavfab? and do you recommend the cavfab ? will it protect from bottom hits?
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HAkP8yNLnuQ.html Iv got about 6k on my mtr’s... still very happy with em. Louder then the pats but performs much better... Pats are mediocre best.... and they seem to gotten to big for their own britches.... they have increased on price like crazy.
Found ur problem 😉 So u lifted the jeep alot without adjusting the drag link...so what u need to do is extend the drag link to get ur steering wheel close to straight... tht will fix ur problem. Will take a few drives to clear the code thou
You know the job gonna be fun and interesting when there is cussing involved lol. Hell bro you did good it ain't gotta be perfect if it fits it fits sometimes modifying can be fun. If you had a slide hammer you have put a bolt thru the hole and made a bracket to bolt to the back hook the slide hammer to the bolt and slap it a couple of times lol. Then try again and mount it then slap the jeep on the butt and say your welcome lmao
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD gotta have fun with it hell my JK got flat black and Silver in some areas. All done with rattle cans too idc the jeep gonna get love marks over time.
Doesn't look worth it...dont like how you have to drill and it creates a place for dirt and moisture to get trapped behind it against the body causing early rust.
I hear what u are saying, but if it’s between that... and rock/ bumper caused body damage... I’ll take the lesser of them evils 😂 thank you for watching!!
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD Your Cavfab bumper and tire will protect the small side body area not covered by the bumper. Highly unlikely that you hit that area on a rock.
I was shocked myself... as u hear me mention... I have zero concerns hitting tht corner (filmed a few weeks ago) if u watched the 5k video. U see there is legit rock scrapes on it now 😂😂 what the hell!
