I toured morocco mainly offroad and desert with the old one and there was nothing I couldnt tackle. It was 200kg+ but felt so light. I’m looking forward to test this one. I love it!

I know so many have chimed in on the weight of this bike @ 196kg. It does sound heavy, but in reality it comes standard with upper front crash bars, tail rack, centre stand, HD bash plate and maybe a few others?. Any other adventure bike you'll buy these will be accessories that you'll likely add on & pay extra for. I'd wager they easily add up to 15kg meaning in reality compared to other bikes it's in the very acceptable 180kg range. I actually think RE has done better than most people are giving them credit for . Quite the opposite of a BMW where nearly half the bike has to be bought from the accessories catalogue.
@lightweightadv

That's a really good point, most of this is standard fit, unlike most others which gets it bolted on later 👌🏻

I’ve been making that point all over YT🤘🏾 - CRF 300 Rally needs another $3.5K AUD into it to make adventure ready (suspension, seat bash guard)

Why does everyone keep saying the Enfield has to be cheap. The have raised the quality of this bike enormously, so you have to pay for quality. It is better built than most of its competition, and that is not cheap to do. I watched Nathan Millward touching parts of the 400 Triumph and saying they were "flimsey", and they looked it. You can build for quality, or down to a price. I can guess what Triumph has done
@lightweightadv
@lightweightadv 8 месяцев назад
Because at a higher price point, you're competing with nearly jew middle weight bikes (same actual weight), with twice the power and we'll established components. If this is £7k for example, you could get a nearly new T7 (if your licence allows), or a 400X and invest a thousand into it and still be better off. The price, as with any bike, is key. RE set their own price standard with the 411

Good to hear that the original 411 panniers will fit the new frames. Looking forward to sitting on this next Saturday. As owners of two 411's we are certainly looking to upgrade when they are released in the UK. May find out the prices after RE's Motoverse event on Friday.

It’s one of the few bikes where the WHOLE bike has been built, ground up as an ADV bike. Others are built from existing parts such as an road bike engine into a different chassis (T7 with a MT07 motor for example)

You have to give credit to RE..they seem to be listening to consumers and building the bikes people actually want, more than any other manufacturer. Having owned the old 411 briefly (bought a lemon sadly) I can also testify to how well RE build that relationship between the manufacturer and the rider..simple stuff really, but regular emails and updates from the RE ‘family’ etc..they’re great at making you feel part of something..excellent Relationship Marketing. Really like the look of this new himmy but of course, price point is absolutely key…can they compete with the amazing bargain of the 400X?…another great plus is that there’ll soon be loads of bargain 411’s to be had I’d hope!..I’d certainly have another if I could find one that wasn’t a lemon this time!…ps, I’m 6ft and half an inch, 33’’ inside leg, a bit gangly too 😂..but I found the 411 really comfy 🤷‍♂️😂..mad ha ha

I'm not sure tbh, I think it would be a lot of fun. It reminds me of the old big trailies that we used to have in the 90s, but with a modern touch. A bit heavy perhaps, but Stong as an Ox

Great intro to the new Himmy, just looking back on this again now it's finally here. Hope to see you take it out and give us your thoughts as this is a bike I really fancy buying to get into greenlaning. Do you think tubless is the way to go or not for off roading as comes with both options?
@lightweightadv
@lightweightadv 3 месяца назад
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to getting out on one in the next few weeks. Personally, for easy going green lanes (the Himmys environment), where you're not deflating tyres for traction etc, I'd opt for Tubeless. They're far easier to repair.
@HW-kf7hi
@HW-kf7hi 3 месяца назад
@@lightweightadv thanks for the quick reply. Tubeless do seem popular and I bet there will be tubed rims going cheap in the future from people upgrading if I want a set. Not keen on the black one myself despite everyone raving about it (reminds me of the 80's and JPS Nortons) so think it's the Kamet white option for me then. Look forward to your thoughts on it after you've taken it for a spin.

I saw a bunch of videos about the new Himalayan, but no one said about the size. Guys, is it a small motorcycle or not? I'm not talking here about engine size, but frame size. Any good for tall riders, or is it one more model like the KTM 390 Adventure which is clearly made for the Asian market?

Nobody really talks about how hard it is to pick it up when you are on your Owen in out of the way places,put it on the show room floor and let riders pick it up then they will know if it’s the bike for them

@jimdicko1483
@jimdicko1483 8 месяцев назад
@@lightweightadv got to disagree. I’m not after a powerful bike, but 40 hp and comfortable cruising at 70mph loaded up don’t go hand in hand. 50-60 hp would be more like it. That said. I’m keen to see what it rides like; maybe 40hp will be enough.
@lightweightadv
@lightweightadv 8 месяцев назад
I think so. My 26bhp CRF cruises at 60mph loaded, so I think 40bhp is ample to up that to 70mph. Also, it's a really nice power for off road travel. A longstroke engine might not be particularly powerful, but they're often mighty strong, which for this type of bike is a fair trade off I think. I think riding one off road will really show it's worth 🙂👍🏻
