This is such a good reaction. Don’t see many US music youtubers diving into UK rap, let alone for 2.5 hours to this extent. Earned my sub and then some, keep it up fellas!
fucking amazing fre, i've really never seen an album reaction this high quality in my fuckin life 🤟🏾 the way the titles of the songs come in, the way the features n producers are formatted, the edits in between songs, the audio quality- EVERYTHING is a 11/10 standard bro, absolutely blown away akh, amazing 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 (n super entertaining too!)
Thank you! Had to take my time with it to make it worthwhile. Didn't want to just slap on an intro and outro and give y'all 3 and a half hours uncut just because
Fun fact: On "Heart Attack" he has a verse where he says "African moms crying on the floor". He was alluding to the conversation he recorded with his mother at the end of the same track where she was crying on the floor most likely. While telling him her struggle as an immigrant mother of 3 kids in a foreign unwelcoming land!
Best reaction channel around i appreciate you putting this much time into the reaction, only you and Lee keeping me interested for 2 hours like this. Shoutout Frank too i love the dynamic yall got everytime when on camera
that bar on in the fire "two swords im a ronin, blaszcokovski im trynna score with the polish" is INSANE. A ronin is a masterless samurai, and blaszcokovski is a polish footballer who's dad was killed, so he has no master... phenomenal.
Correction .. He witnessed first hand his father killing his mother, then the father got locked up .. Truly a masterless human who achieved the most out of his situation
This is the first time I've listened to one of your reactions and I love it. It's a great breakdown of the album as a whole and a nice look unto each track. On Three Rivers the third river was immigration into the UK from Eastern Europe during the Balkan war in the 90s. River 1 = Caribbean to the UK from 50s through to the 80s. River 2 = Eastern Europe to the UK in the 90s. River 3 = the Middle East to the UK in the 00s.
Frank he grew up under Avelino’s wing…he mentions him in a lot of songs and freestyles. And I’m sure you guys know Avelino is wisdom and penmanship personified 💯
I normally never watch reaction videos without skipping through but I watched all 2 1/2 hours of this without fail. Both your understandings of the songs and the context behind them is incredible, keep it up guys!
Usually takes me months to get into a channel and press the bell button, but this is the first video I've watched of y'all and I subbed, liked, and pressed the bell legit 35 mins into this video. Unreal stuff, I've never related to an artist as I do with Dave, and seeing y'all put my thoughts on the album into words makes me so happy.
Thank you so much! It's absolutely an hour. I always try my best to get Frank involved when I have a project to cover, so I am glad you enjoyed the experience so much. I hope to be able to continue to deliver for you.
First of all, please keep on doing what you're doing bro cus ur destined to blow up. Your editing and video production is so high quality you deserve way more subs. Fire reaction. Love from the UK.
I reached three rivers, as a brit i get the whole immigration thing. Wind rush is a madness and a should be shame on the uk. It brings it right up to the current migrants from eastern Europe. Kids and grandkids of the wind rush generation telling polish people to go home is madness. Its a deep one for sure and highlighting it is 🔥
In my opinion it tracks decades of migration from different regions to Britain: Windrush from the Caribbean in the 60s, from Eastern Europe in the 90s (post EU integration? Not sure) and from the Middle East (2015 onwards essentially). The bars about Eastern Europe sound like he’s describing someone who fought in a conflict during the fall of the USSR, then he talks about asylum seekers fleeing conflict in Syria. I don’t think all three parts are about the same person like they said in the video.
"Be careful who leads you to war, they'll sign a treaty behind your back and leave you alone on the battlefield" this hit me differently I really needed this now cause two of my bestfriends are beefing and I don't know what to do
So sorry to hear you're going through that. Hopefully it isn't anything super serious or life threatening (for your and their sake, don't confirm or deny in the comments). But that's always been how I approach those situations. I rather lose 2 people than have 1 of them try to make me choose sides. It's unfortunate that you're caught in the middle. You know your life and situation better than me, so all I can say is prioritize protecting yourself and your peace at all times.
I don't think it was to suggest being pushed I think daves mum may be depressed due to her stressing life and tried to not have a baby but wanted it to seem like an accident because she's Christian and doesn't believe in abortion it could have also been her trying to commit suicide
Best reaction I’ve ever watched in my life, and I been with you for about a year now. Keep raising the bar my man, this was fucking flames- just like the album ❤️🔥
I'm glad to see that people actually appreciate the longer form. Some people even asked for the original 3 hours LOL. It helps make editing a liiiiiiittle easier.
Thoroughly enjoyed this entire video! Watched every minute till the end :) The difference in y'alls reaction is funny and I like how you can explain some things I don't know/understand, makes the album so much more enjoyable to me. It's truly amazing.
Wow..listen guys, I'm a UK rap fan and have been listening to reactions for the last few years.. you guys are BY FAR the most comprehensive reactors. Thank you! You totally get it when it comes to the craft of the UK game and you are well read and well researched.. you listen and appreciate the work.. thanks again .. I immediately subscribed and already looking forward to all of your other reactions.. keep up this great work!!! :)
I felt the same way at first BUT, I understand his perspective after I let myself come down from the initial high of the album. I'm going to make my own follow up video about my updated opinions on the project. I think people will appreciate it. It's still a contender for album of the year along with with Conflict of Interest. I have had it on repeat since I filmed last Friday.
@@KRXOVRmedia will deffo be watching that follow up vid bro, can only think of other features on songs to improve the album personally but excited to hear your insight too
literally no one is on the same level as ghetts that verse is outrageously good ghetts is the best rapper in the world right now and is among the goats of the whole rap scene not just the uk rap scene
I can't stop coming back to watch your reaction to this album. You guys and LeeToTheVi have the best reactions and breakdown on YT to this masterpiece.
Really enjoyed watching your reaction/ review... first time watching your content and loved how intelligent and passionate you both are about Dave's music. Plus the balance between Shadiq and Frank was just nice as they both brought different viewpoints. Looking forward to checking out more videos !
Ayye!! Thanks for stopping by. Glad you enjoyed it. I always try my best to get Frank involved when I cover a project for that exact reason. He has a great ear.
Sorry I need to comment again the time and effort that’s gone into this is just 10/10 you could of just done it quickly and been one of the first to react to it but you took your time and it shows. I watched the whole thing last night and enjoyed all the reactions on each song especially Ghetts in the fire verse . We need ghetts and Dave on more songs together
I really really appreciate this. Yes, I definitely decided I wanted my video to stand out even if it meant delaying it. Glad that it's being appreciated. I agree that we need more Ghetts and Dave for sure.
big up yourself bros, the time it takes to edit and put some minor details so we can understand the bars is just nuts. U earned my sub and wish u guys all the best
Subscribed and Belled. Been searching for reactors like y’all. Amazing work. Yo, I laughed my ass off at how perfect the timing of that ivory skin bar was. Y’all had just come off a CRAZY deep track, only to go immediately back into punchlines that hard. I was audibly laughing at how perfect y’alls’ physical reaction was to that situation.
The mummy fell with the commas inverted saying she was pushed and beat when pregnant, and we already knew Lesley was based off a family member so looks like it coulda been based on his mum. Real shit man😪
Very interesting to think about when I first listened to it I made the connection between depression and suicide attempts or maybe even her religion getting in the way of an abortion and so she tried not to give birth as she wasn't in the right state
@@brynnsta12 I think it has a very strong connection with lesley so I feel like it would be more likely for lesley to be about his mum but that's the great thing about dave he let's u interpret so much about his bats
In. An interview by go Britain Dave said that all his albums were based of elements phsyco drama was fire We’re all alone in this together was water And his to singles mercury and titanium were literal elments
This is an amazing reaction, to see appreciation for his artistry is so fulfilling. Keep it up team 🤞🏽 question… is this album Grammy nomination worthy?
Napoleon Bonaparte meets Joan of Arc could’ve simply had to do with the fact that they were both powerful and commanding French leaders of opposite gender, comparing that Dave and his girl are both stubborn and powerful in arguments with each other? I’m not sure though
1:43:13 Hardest hitting bar on this track for me. Talking about how he went from seeing his mum counting pennies to seeing LA. What Dave does so well and what separates him from the rest is how he bridges it together with "They both feel like things I weren't supposed to see". His mum would not want him to see that she was struggling, and he feels like the cards were stacked against him to prevent him from living this lavish lifestyle. Since they both mention LA in the same sentiment, I would go as far as to say this is a callback to My 19th Birthday where he says "Honestly I didn't think I'd see LA" Goated reaction! Much love
I never really paid full attention to that particular line. His attention to details is definitely one of my favorite things about his music. Thanks for pointing this out and watching. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Coming here bro to watch your reaction because I haven't had time to listen to his album, and I genuinely know coming here I'm gonna love your reaction ❤
Great video! All the effort you put in is really clear and much appreciated I loved this album, Dave's vulnerability and ability to go deep on the contradictions in life definitely puts him in the top tier of artists, let alone rappers
Bein from UK n respect how much youse pick up on all these the whole album goes different n youse gettin all tha is mad bein from the US best reactions out there
My god I’m so happy Frank brought up how difficult it actually is to rhyme the same word repeatedly the way they do in Clash. It sounds easy because “iT rHyMeS iTsElF” but to do it and not sound like an idiot is NOT easy. Even carrying the same rhyme scheme, let alone word, is difficult.
Just finished this vid, unreal reactions to it with in depth analysis👏🏻one thing I noticed is the first song of the album is “We’re All Alone” and the final bar of the album in the song Survivor’s Guilt is “In This Together”. I wonder if this was intentional👀🔥
Very powerful point here (and it applies to all facets of life). Ghetts, in my view, is a very self aware writer, who has used his experiences (good and bad) to master his craft. He knows that there is always something to improve on, and in that light, he never rests on his laurels. He’s basically in the same lane as Kendrick, Lupe, Denzel and similar rappers that take time to develop their projects, whilst also staying true to their roots. As a result, their writing and bars resonate with audiences that appreciate sincerity of the effort put in.
Some context I’m not sure if you guys know (maybe you do), Santander is a major bank in the UK, that’s why the bars about banking and bank scams in a few different songs reference Santan. Idk the full story but apparently when he was younger Dave ran bank scams to make money, he references it in some of his older tracks.
I was waiting and hoping you’d catch the heart attack bar “ I know a killer well no orca” bar😭 meaning I know a killer whale using pronunciation in the double entendre🔥 great reaction!! for sure getting a sub!
Thanks for watching. There really isn't much I can do about the music. You can't tell through this video, but it was already loud. I had to prioritize picking up our voices. I couldn't raise it louder because I'm not the only one who lives here and I have neighbors. Only way to make the music louder would have ended up taking almost another few days of editing.
@@KRXOVRmedia yeah. If you ever decide to use headphones in your reactions, you could do an audio recording and edit the songs directly onto your editing software like leetothevi does it. I hope you understood what I wrote just there 😂 I don't know how to phrase it properly
Yeah I know what you mean. I'm the one who taught him the method he uses to film right now. I will never film with headphones because I move around, so it won't be natural/organic if I have to restrict my movement. Doing that also seems to raise the risk of videos getting blocked since the audio ends up being closer to the actual MP3 quality of the track.
i watched the whole video and it was an amazing breakdown first video of yours i’ve ever seen and loved it amazing editing i subscribed and turned on notifications gonna go through a lot of your videos you have an amazing energy you gon blow up frfr 🙏🏽🙏🏽 one of the only 2+ hour videos i can sit and watch without getting bored and closing
