Thanks for recording both the pre and post resonator delete in the same place so the surrounding environment is equivalent! Gives a much better idea of what difference the res delete makes.
it really does make a pretty big difference, I also cut out the big suitcase one on mine makes a huge difference, but I’m thinking about throwing that one on again after I get a downpipe !
@@kevinspiteri9590 just had the two fronts removed and in dynamic mode it sounds fantastic, as you'd expect it to have come from the dealer when new! The garage said that 2 customers had their rears taken off and both lasted a couple of days before coming back and requesting them to put them back on, it was just too loud.
@@Kendo87 yes that’s what I’m doing today! At 2000-2300 with windows up it is unbearable. So it’s the two in front that need to be removed to simulate what Audi does
Thank you! No drone whatsoever, even with the valves open in dynamic mode. That also sounds right - there was the option to order them on ECS but the wait time was longer than ordering direct from Tony. That might’ve changed though.
@@AutoAndrew Perfect, also have you heard about CTS' mid resonator delete x pipe at all? I cant seem to find any reviews on it and want to see how loud and droney it is compared to VPS.
@@st33d57 Funny you mention that. I was just browsing their website the other day and saw that part. I don't know much about it and haven't see too much feedback on it either, so I'm assuming it's a very new part on the market. IMO, you can't really go wrong with the VPS kit in terms of noise. It sounds great and I have no complaints.
Thanks of this! I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust of my B9 S5 this year. My old B8 S4 had a Milltek but they are so much more expensive for the B9. I'm thinking a front resonator delete is the way to go. The IE midpipes look like a good option that doesn't involve any cutting.
Absolutely! I feel the same way. My old B8 S4 (have vids of that on channel) had an AWE touring exhaust which was still over $1k used. I think that the VPS kit really is the perfect sounding exhaust setup for these cars without spending a ton of money.
@@AutoAndrew do you know if the VPS kit is available in the UK? Upon a quick Google I can’t find much. Is it in essence removing front and back resonators and replacing with straight pipe as my local exhaust garage could do that? Car sounds awesome by the way, so much better. I would keep the switch too, better to be able to turn it down if you need to!
I’m not sure - I would send an email to Tony at VPS and ask if he can ship internationally. It essentially replaces the front two resonators with straight pipes and keeps everything else stock. Definitely recommend keeping the stock valves if possible, really gives a lot of flexibility.
Zero drone with this kit. I’ve read that deleting the mid resonator (similar to what an X pipe does) causes a lot of drone. Some people can deal with it but I didn’t want to take the chance. This is a great product and I highly recommend it!
What does this VPS kit provide that an exhaust shop that just cuts out the resonators and puts in a equivalent size and quality str8 pipe ? I know this would be reversible in the way a welded custom pipe would not … Thank you for posting this , I wanna do the same.
Sure thing! To be honest, I think a reputable exhaust shop would be able to accomplish a similar setup as the VPS kit. In my case, I just wanted something plug and play that came from a recommended company on the forums. It also being reversible was another added benefit. Totally up to you which path to go down, but I can’t imagine an exhaust shop either a. doing it for much cheaper and/or b. keeping the reversible part. Thanks for watching!
This definitely something I’m considering! I was concerned about drone, but now that you mentioned keeping the original valve and just doing a resonator delete is a good way to do it. I have a 2018 A5 coupe similar to yours, will this also work? Please lmk! Thanks :D
Unfortunately, I do not think it will work with the A5! The A5 and S5 have totally different engines and exhaust setups and this kit is for S4/S5 only. I would definitely think there are other similar options for the A5 out there. Thanks for the support!
any other mods on this? Im looking for some extra sound but most videos have swapped downpipes... sounds like you get more crackles now? would you recommend to someone that hates the crackles and pops?
No other mods, the rest of the system is stock outside the VPS system. There aren’t really any additional pops, it just amplifies those that were already there. I don’t think there’s really any system that will eliminate them. You may be able to tune them out, but I’m personally not 100% sure.
Good question. To be honest I’m not sure. If I had to guess I’d say yes - probably because if the dealer found the new exhaust section cut/with new clamps they’d probably assume a worst case scenario and void the warranty. I’ve been reading that warranties are very strict these days, but it really does depend on how nice your dealer is with small mods like this.
Hey man great video, quick question, you got any insight on how good FI (frequency intelligent) exhausts are? My Audi has it, and it comes with a remote to close / open the exhaust valves, any insight on this brand and if they are good too> thanks/
Thanks! Unfortunately I don’t have any personal experience with FI exhausts, but I know they are a big name in the business. I do know they are quite a valuable system so if you end up not liking the sound it makes you can probably sell it for a great price. Hopefully that helps!
I got the front two resonators removed on my B9 S5 and it sounds a little loud than before only on dynamic, was willing to remove the mid resonator but these comments tell me not to as too much drone won't be nice. Any leads to make it a bit more loud ?
Unfortunately I’m not sure what else you could do outside of a downpipe or full catback system for more noise. I also heard removing the mid resonator creates some unwanted drone too.
@@AutoAndrewhey, i dont really know much about exhausts, but i have the 034 x pipe installed on my 2021 s4 and it has some unwanted drone. is mine the mid resonator delete? if the front resonator delete is different and doesnt cause drone like u said id be very interested in reinstalling the mid resonators and removing the fronts
I don’t think my kit came with the sealant. Maybe the shop used their own brand during installation, but I can’t recall my kit providing it when I first got it.
Yes, I would assume so. You’ll have to bring the kit to them or describe what you’d like done if you want them to do it from scratch. Any reputable muffler shop should be able to help you out either way.
I believe you can. However, from what I gather VPS ships to those who order directly from them first once parts are manufactured and then distribute to vendors like ECS. I could be wrong, but I do remember it being a longer wait time buying through ECS than VPS.
