This simple to build bench is built with just four 2x8x8's. I have modified some plans that I originally found on Rogue Engineer's RU-vid channel at
• $30 Outdoor Bench with... .
I changed the angle on the top of the back to match the legs and added armrest with intergraded cupholders to help keep the party going.

Surely you know that the “speed” part of the speed square is that you don’t have to pivot for a 45…? I was actually shouting at you 😝 JUST FLIP OT OVER! great vid though. I made two in the 30 minutes just by batch cutting extras.

Thank you so much sir, for making a video for the beginners. Your explanation and the demonstration of how things go is such a blessing blessing to someone like me. I've been injured on my job and trying to find hobbies to do but not understanding the tools and how to use them but you have made it where a disabled person as myself could at least follow your instructions and make something

Nice job. I have made many Leopold Benches with the plans from Rouge Engineer" design using both size of lumber. I like your addition. Might I suggest a hole saw to make the cup holder. First you would want to spin the hole saw in reverse to score the wood then drill the hole. Scoring will help stop the hole bit from skipping.

Hello again. I'm back to see how you added the arms. Nice job. Also I am shortening the seat and back boards down to 2 feet and made a chair for a customer. I only lowered my price by $20.00 since the same amount of labor but just a little less material. My customer was more that happy to agree. He requested arms so here I am reviewing your process. I added back the $20.00 and he agreed.

Thanks for watching and the comment. I think you would be able to do in less than 60 days. The tools and a little experience make it go faster, but this is a nice easy build. I am super grateful that you enjoyed the video. Thanks again.

I bought what they call a small pet tent and sat the rear of my miter saw in it. Captures at least 95% of the dust and is flexible enough to pivot for 45 degree cuts. If I remember it was about $20 on amazon. Once every couple of weeks I suck it clean with a hose from the central vac. Good part is my saw is on a rolling base so the tent just comes along.

Nicely Done! Very Nicely Done!!!. I loved the regular guy approach to this. It was great when you said to make a measurement and a cut you pointed to the actual end and point of the board to reference when so many others I've seen just blab "cut 10 inches from end". I'm like what end, what point? Nice bench. I will try one, you 30 mins, me 30 days!!! I might round of that corner at the top of the legs and I think raising up the 2 back rest pieces a few inches so that you can put a curve or curves on the top board which would give it a different look. Maybe even some scroll cut out designs in the back rest pieces. Just my 2 cents, easy for me to say after you had built it. Nicely Done! Very Nicely Done!!! Thank you!!!!!!!

Kinda like this bench. It's different and looks like a fun build. But... may I suggest one thing? On the cupholders, cut out 2 or 3 inches into the support. As is, you have 1-1/2" to sit your beverage. Fine for a coffee cup but disastrous for larger containers.

1. Your shop makes my shop look clean. 2. I just built a similar mobile planer stand, but mine looks better. 🤣🤣 3. Love the upgrade to RE’s bench. I was planning on building his, now I’m planning on building yours. You need a bit of practice on camera angles, etc but otherwise a good video.

Looks great. How long can the seat & back boards be cut before a third leg is required?
@ParmFam
@ParmFam Месяц назад
Thanks. I would think you would be able to go out to 5-6' without a third leg. Most picnic tables are made from 2x6 lumber and they span about 5'. You might want to put a small brace under the seat portion to help keep the boards together better. Thanks for watching and I hope this helps. Have a great night.

That top back board looks like it goes from outside to outside of the 2 legs that would make it a 51” board. Did I miss something or can’t I see well enough on my phone screen. Nice job!
@ParmFam

That board does go on the inside of the back legs. It makes the cuts easy since all of the seat boards and the back boards are 48". Thanks for watching. Have a great day.

Could you use the cutoffs from the back to make the arm supports under the cup holders?

With the speed square (at 3:05) all you had to do was flip the square over! The other side is a 45!

Is there a reason why you are “pulling” the miter saw blade vs. bringing the miter saw out, plunging down, and then “pushing” the blade to finish the cut.
