just commenting to say that, thanks to this video (being apparently the last piece of the puzzle that has been my journey of getting back into reading), i finally decided that my brain was well enough again to dive back in once more into something big like a ~ novel ~ and so i started with The Fifth Season and OH MY GOD R I D D OH MY G O D THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I read the Empire of Sand, by Tasha Suri, a couple of months back and I thought it was sensational. An inspired, genre-tweaking debut. I would almost call it a Gothic Fantasy in an Indian setting. Suri's ability to create a palpable sense of dread, claustrophobia, and paranoia--at least in that book--was second to none. I actually got the sequel, Realm of Ash, a couple weeks ago, but I haven't gotten into it yet. I'll be eager to hear your thoughts on this newest one.
okay sounds like a perfect motivation for me to finally read The Goblin Emperor! I love Tasha Suri's Books of Ambha series (inspired by Mughal India) and I can't wait to see her future work!
