I made this last night but I used fresh coconut meat and 1.7kg was a bit much. Maybe the canned ones are heavier due to water content? Anyway, I made the filling fit and it was really good. It did bake a bit longer due to its size. This is a pie on steroids and is not your typical buko pie. A decadent buko pie indeed.

Thanks for sharing but I have never seen such a basic pie take so long to show in a video. 25 minute video that could be edited for a 10 minute film. I still give it a thumbs up 👍

Hi Robert, here it is: The PERFECT Buko Pie Recipe Ingredients: Buko pie filling 3 cans young coconut meat 1 cup coconut milk 1 cup condensed milk ½ cup water 4 tbsp cornstarch ⅛ tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla extract Buko pie dough 300 g All purpose flour 8 tbsp chilled unsalted butter, diced 65 g chilled vegetable shortening, chopped 6 tbsp cold water 1 tsp Himalayan pink or sea salt Buko pie eggwash 1 whole egg 1 egg yolk 1 tbsp fresh whole milk Demerara or turbinado cane sugar for the topping (optional) Note: Use 9” pie plate
The time of showing how to make the dough took so long and it’s a waste of time , you could have shortened it or fast forward it , the filling is more important , I couldn’t finish this video ,it’s painful to watch !
