While Midoriya sees All Might as The Savior of Millions, Bakugou sees All Might as The Invincible Champion. Neither interpretation is wrong at all.

I always forget Baku is litteraly a gifted kid among the gifted. He's arguably genius level when it comes to practical skills. Ingore quirks and he's probably the strongest fighter next to someone like Gear head or stain. Include quirks and he's ludicrous with something so simple.

Bakugo cemented himself in one of my all time favorite characters when he didnt join the league of villains. Felt like thats what he was being built up to be so the whole time i was just thinkin yeah whatever. Then he denied the league and it was like holy shit this guy is awesome

He may be a jerk but it is precisely that personality that attracts the audience to him in a way since we are left wondering about HOW he will end up developing in the future. What kind of person will he be in the end? What kind of hero? Deku is more straightforward in that regard so most people already know what to expect from him in the future. Meanwhile, many thought Bakugou would become a villain when the opportunity was offerred but he proved everyone wrong and continues to develop positively as the episodes go by. Thus far, the narrative itself has made sure to humble his initial aggressions by making him fail where he always expected to succeed (i.e. the sludge monster, the Heroes vs Villain Test, the way he won the Sports Festival competition, the kidnapping by the villains, etc.). His complex mindset and behavior attracts fans to him because they want to be able to understand him to determine where he will end up in the narrative. Plus he just has a cool design and great control of his amazing quirk. A character like Vegeta in DBZ has similar reasons for his wide fanbase.

I know most people seem to hate Bakugo, but he's almost always been my favorite character (after episode 3). Unlike most people, I actually do understand why he is the way he is and how he deals with it while knowing full well what people think most him (which pushes him to go further).

Bakugo represents the idea that being “nice” does not make you a good person. I wouldn’t say he’s there yet, but he’s got good in him. He wants to “win like All Might”. He’ll resist and bite until the end.

When you're angry all the time then it makes sense that you'd learn how to best use it through experience.

I do think Bakugo's character has a lot of depth, and has a good character arc when it comes to asshole characters. But I regard his character development to be poor in general. People can be very competitive, but it doesn't give them reasons to bully others. His motivations for becoming a hero were well explained, but it's kinda hard to take it seriously when All Might chose Deku for his good will to help others. Something that Bakugo clearly lacks(although this does go with many of the other characters as well). His character development reaches out into areas such as "expressing his inferiority complex" and "improving skills". For the inferiority complex, it was a well written tool to show how Bakugo truly feels about Deku and how he has dealt with it, as well as Deku being acknowledged as a rival for the first time. And him working with his teammates shows that he came to learn teamwork is needed. But I think what his character needed as development was actually his mindset as a hero. Of course he can just save people and beat the bad guys, but as Stain points out, many heroes(Bakugo included) lack the self-sacrificial spirit. I wouldn't mind if he was like Uraraka, not showing any interest in saving or anything. But he openly expresses his dismay in helping civilians. All-Might isn't the best just because he always wins. He's the best because he always prevails AND saves those in need HIMSELF. I feel he needs more character progression through A. coming to terms with his personality and finding ways to deal with it, and B. apologizing to Deku and from there starting a rather friendlier rivalry. Of course, that's just my opinion. Great video. Many good points were made. Anyone who read this long absurd comment, kudos to you.

I've always liked Bakugou since Episode 1. I relate to him on a personal level, and is just a character you can laugh your ass off at, and when he rarely cries, it hits you deeply, at least it did to me. I don't think Bakugou *hates* Midoriya. From what we have all seen, Bakugou absolutely despises being rescued; to him that's like you're saying "Hey, you need my help, because you're not strong *enough*". He has a massive ego and that’s what I love about him. I love his character, persona, personality, quirk, passion, and just *everything* about him. He has by far, been my favorite character not only in BNHA, Anime, but overall series or movies.

Bakugou is the best. Not only in design but in character. He’s a lot deeper than people think and a lot better. So much growth and innovation in his personality. Even if it’s subtle.

you got som points really wrong , i think cuz you're obviously anime only -bakugo doesn't want to become a symbole of peace , he admire the all might aspect of always winning -he did care about all might choosing deku , the end of the season is gonna be about that subject -bakugo still went against all might with a firm believe that he can beat him , he even said "there's no way i can beat you without taking risks" , deku was the one who knew all might can't be beat and that they had to use their wits -his goal is to surpass all might not be like him

Yess, I love Bakugou because of his passion and ambition! I admit at first I really just liked his design and delinquent attitude, but after seeing how he developed throughout the show, my love for him grew more. He seems to be angry all the time, but he's so smart and rational when it comes down to it. He seems to rush in impulsively but he actually has an amazing plan in mind. He also seems to look down on others but he actually cares about people. And all the ways he creatively uses his quirk? Gosh he has both the talent and skill to become an amazing hero. It's so inspiring to watch him because he's for sure gonna go far. But then he also has, or rather had, ego issues. He thought for the longest time that Deku was looking down on him when he was genuinely trying to help. And he also only believed a hero needs to be strong enough to defeat the villain but All Might taught him that sometimes you defeat the villain by SAVING people. And season 5 just showed how much he's grown due to that lesson. He has definitely changed, but without really changing xD. He's still his angry self but his thinking isn't as toxic as it used to be. Plus the angry outbursts are sometimes really funny.

Can I just say that I love the vibe that you give off. The way your videos are edited is very smooth and your voice is very calm.

The character development of Bakugou is really good for someone like him. Someone with an ego and pride as big as Bakugou's is not easy to change, even a bit. My explosion boi is growing, slowly, but he's growing. He has learned that you should not look down on others and always think you're supreme to their abilities, just like what he told that kid in the episode where him, IcyHot, Camie and Wind boi had to win a class' hearts. Sometimes, you have to be humble. Don't always act on impulse. Sure, he isn't getting much screen time, but he isn't the main protagonist (which is Midoryia) Now, Bakugou is the only person who knows about One For All's existence among Midoryia's classmates. And hey've kinda been helping each other. My boy may be angry all the time, but he's growing as a person.Slowly, not largely, but he's still has a bit of character development. Who knows, maybe in the future, he'll act like a normal human being-

I believe the top layer of bakugou is self superiority, anger, passion, belittling others, and wits. I believe his underlining layer is inferiority, succumbing to pressure, and learning to accept himself and others off of how they are as a person instead of how strong their physical and mental abilities are.

It's sad when people thinks that Bakugo doesn't have a character development. Look back at season 4, where they have to deal with those kids. Look back at what he said to that certain kid. THE ADVICE BAKUGO GAVE TO THAT KID! You can clearly see the character development.

All Might leaving their house is one of the few scenes where he talks normally and the fact that you can't recognize his voice speaks volumes.

People can hate on Bakugou but we all know the story wouldn’t be the same without him. At all.

Assuming they come from Horikoshi, the facial expressions for pretty much all the characters are excellent, with Bakugou being no exception. His little mouth grimaces and crazy eyes are always funny to me.

Bakugo is one of the most complex characters I’ve known, on parr with Lelouch and Kira. That’s the only reason I tolerate him until now, to see how he’ll develop in the future...

Unpopular Opinion: If Bakugo was the main character, everyone would hate him.

I'll go one further, he is one of the best designs because he is a fleshed out multifaceted person. There are a LOT of characters in this series who we get to know- how many of them do we know more than 1 hobby for? It feels weird that on top of being a powerful hero, he also knows how to play drums, and knows how to cook quite well for being thought of as the dumb guy who just blows stuff up. He's capable of quick and even deep reasoning, he identifies people's emotions and reads between lines very easily- complete opposites to the trope of the dumb angry barbarian. Bakugo isn't a character with a few bullet point traits- he's a person.

Although people more often compare Todoroki to Zuko, through their father issues, amazing fire ability and their scars which are almost the same, in terms of personality and personality growth, Bakugou fits Zuko a lot more. Todoroki is generally calm and reserved but Bakugo is a loud, angsts teenager, just like Zuko at the beginning of Avatar. Before Zuko joined Aang, his immense power was fueled by angry passion, sound familiar? Zuko gets through that burning anger and learns to control his anger while doing good. Bakugo was introduced as a fiery ball of anger who always spoke his mind and was essentially very selfish. But he has gone through some character growth like mentioned in the video.

Bakugo's anger reminds me of Endeavor's. Full of pride and passion.

The only thing I disagree with is Bakugo having the ideals of being a true hero. Bakugo has flat out stated that he wants to become the best in order to become rich and to overpower All Might. In his own way, he strives to be the hero based on the high expectations he sets for himself, not because he has a desire to be particularly useful in a dire situation. That’s the only part of the video I disagreed with. Otherwise, I think this was a good analysis of his character!

I love this and totally agree but I think you missed a super important part of his character! Bakusquad, and especially kirishima! Yes, he's had to evolve on his own being surrounded by people who have just as much power as he does, but a lot, A Lot, of his character development has come from having friends whom (while he might not say it) he actually views as friends. Especially kirishima, who's the only one he really seems to consider an equal. This is a bit more prevalent in the manga and I get the feeling that this was mostly anime focused but I still find it genuinely so important!

Honestly, I had such a hard time enjoying Bakugou's character. I recently have watched the anime up to date and have just finished the manga up to date, as well. I did not dread to see focus on Bakugou, but I felt like I was really missing something, since he is oftentimes voted the most popular character in the series. This video really got me to like him, after all. Kind of made me realize that I saw some of my own toxic traits in him that I have since fixed, although I used to be loud, confrontational, and basically conniving for a few years up until 5th grade, but not through high school. I got a good laugh at the end once I realized the reason for my distaste toward his character, and now I love this little asshole. Also, awesome analysis with few disputable flaws, as I'm sure you've already seen the feedback in the comments have addressed the discrepancies with your viewpoints on Bakugou and Midoriya's relationship.

I've gotten into the series recently and I see how popular Bakugo is. And I'm trying to get his character. I'm trying to like him because he's a big part of the series. I'm trying to like him because even Deku says he's his friend. But I can't bring myself to do that because of how much Bakugo has bullied Deku. It's really hard to root for a character who has physically and mentally hurt someone for years. It doesn't make sense to me how someone who is such a jerk could be so popular. And I'm not writing this to hate on him. I'm trying to understand why everyone likes him despite being a bully. When I first started watching the anime, it really brought me back to when I got bullied in school. I don't mean to make it so personal, but it baffled me to learn this character was so well-liked even after telling Deku to kill himself, burning his notebook, belittling him, and telling him He's useless. And burning his shoulder. I watched this video to see the point in his character and I understand why Bakugo is the way he is now. I don't excuse his behavior with Deku, but I get it now. I don't like him because of what I mentioned, but I understand his character better. I'm trying to have an appreciation for the main characters so I can enjoy the series and not feel like I'm missing out on the full experience. This video is great because I can see where he is coming from. I still don't undermine his harshness with Deku, who was defenseless, but he wasn't useless. He was quirkless. If Bakugo really wanted to be a hero like All Might, then he should have been chivalrous by standing up for Deku rather than bringing him down and making him feel horribly. And I gotta hand it to Deku for enduring all of that bs for years. He stuck around because he admired Bakugo. But I still don't know how to chew him. I appreciate this video. It gives me something to think about to see him in a new light, but my opinion of him hasn't been swayed. I don't like him as a person or how he treats people, but I can like him as an individual character for his passion now, because I get that passion. I have passion for my dream, too. So thanks for sharing this with us. I apologize for writing about why I dislike his character in a video where he is being celebrated. I don't want to argue with anyone. Bakugou's character development, May be he needed to fail at the Pro Hero License exam so that he realised that being Hero doesn't always mean tough guy but also mean Good guy(he was literally yelling at the people he was supposed to save) and his motivation for being Hero(beating guys and win just sounds childish and Lame) maybe he really needed to listen to Izuku's motivation, he really needed to control himself otherwise he will ended up being another Endeavour

There's a theory that Bakugou's anger and constant adrenaline is his body's way of dealing with his quirk and keeping him alive. Because nitroglycerin can lower a person's heart rate dramatically, so if he's not constantly stressed he would literally pass out. Would also make sense cuz he only started being so angry all the time after his quirk manifested

You had me until you said Bakugou hates Midoriya. He doesn’t hate him. He doesn’t understand him. He fears his passion. He believes Midoriya is looking down on him. That Midoriya thinks he’s incapable of taking care of and defending himself. He HATES that Midoriya tries to rush to his rescue. It infuriates it. Because to him it’s as if Midoriya is saying, “you can’t do this alone, you need my help.” And that’s one thing he can’t stand. He has a HUGE inferiority complex that he hides behind the wall of his MASSIVE ego. Midoriya exposes that time and time again and THAT’S what Bakugou hates. Midoriya, makes him feel weak. Makes him fear that he might be. So he pushes him away, and builds up those walls.

I believe that Aizawa described Midoriya's and Bakugo's passion perfectly in the latest episode. *spoilers beyond this point* "There's something I realized after watching class A for a while. They might not have realized it, but in class A, there are two people whose presence has a big effect. They're not leaders or the most popular, and the two of them don't get along at all. But... before I knew it, their passion spread to the rest of the class. It's strange, but one of them is always at the center of any major event. ... Even if they're not physically with everyone, their presence raises the standard for the whole class.

The reason I like him so much is because I believe he has self confidence issues. He may not show it on the surface but notice how he realizes how strong Todoroki is and seeing him use that power on Deku instead of him makes him feel like he’s preceived as not strong enough or not able to beat him at his full strength. Anyway that’s just my opinion please don’t kill me over it 😅

I disagree with the point about his parents. Maybe if they recognized "small" achievements he wouldn't be so constantly determined to prove he can do everything. Maybe that's why when people like Deku show concern, he views it as pity and is so repulsed or confounded by it. He doesn't even accept compliments from All Might well. Bakugou is one of my absolute favorite characters, but from what little I've seen regarding his parents, I'm not about to credit them with so much forethought as you're giving them. It's not uncommon for kids to feel not good enough as they strive for lofty goals, even when they achieve great strides, if they have parents who didn't acknowledge them or belittled them.

One thing I found interesting about Bakugo's parents, are that they're quirks are useless for hero work, despite mixing and giving birth to Bakugo's flashy hero-like quirk. For those of you who don't know, his dad's quirk is a weaker version of Bakugo's where he has to clap extremely hard to make a small spark. His mom's quirk basically let's her sweat lotion. Both are useless in a hero setting but mixed to make Bakugo, which I find amazing. Also i never quite understood why people hated Bakugo. Whenever i saw him rage at people I laughed, instead of getting pissed at him. Edit: Ok i understand why people hate him and i also sort of hated him too at first but that changed almost immediatly for me. And i mean after chap 1/epusode 2
