Hey everybody! If you had €1000 (or whatever the amount is converted to your currency) to spend on a new NICHE perfume collection, which perfumes would you buy? The prices I used were the lowest prices I found online (mostly from discount webshops) available in the Netherlands. Some might say Tom Ford and Guerlain perfumes aren't considered "niche" but since I included scents from their private collections, I decided use them in this list 😊
I've started collecting perfumes last year and so far i have 10 perfumes sitting in my closet, mostly designers but i've been wanting to branch out more into Niche territory and i have been sampling a few, just haven't really decided yet as most of them are very pricey and i want to make sure i really love the scent before committing to a full bottle, but if i had 1000 Euros (or in my case about 970 swiss francs) to spare, i'd probably get: Oriana by Parfums De Marly Bal D'Afrique by Byredo Coco Extreme by Comptoir Sud Pacifique Sintra by Memo Dolce Amalfi by Xerjoff Couture Chid by Novellista
I'd really recommend getting discovery sets. They'll tend to be weaker upon first spray since they most likely haven't macerated but they should get better in performance after a few weeks so 2 ml could go a long way if you let them macerate after getting them. Edit: Or if you're in NA, I'd recommend taking advantage of decanting services if you don't want to try many from a single house. I really wish there were more decanting services in EU
I am so curious about Amouage Sunshine! I really need to get my nose on that one. Judging from your description, it sounds like it would be right up my alley. If I had to start all over, I'd buy Byredo G Water, Santa Maria Novella Tobacco Tuscano, Xerjoff Bouquet Ideale, Ormande Jayne Levant, ELDO The Ghost in the Shell, and Room 1015 Cherry Punk.
For me it will be: - Lira and Dama Bianca from Xerjoff's Casamorati line (big bottles of each because they are just prettier and I love them) - Sekushi from Lengling (small 50ml bottle) - Dates Delight from House of Oud - Sucre by Harry Lehmann (100ml from my remaining approximately 100 bucks) Btw. Niche doesn't necessarily have to mean ultra expensive. Niche just means that a brand focuses solely on fragrances/perfumery, so it's not a designer or celebrity brand that only uses fragrances as an additional branch of income. Most Niche perfumes are more expensive for one because their production margins are much smaller than that of big corporate designer houses, but partly also due to more prime material, but also due to lower expected reach and thus less sales. One perfume has to cost more to make it worth their production cost and considering they might take a longer time to sell a significant amount of bottles (as opposed to designer fragrances which are not only mass-produced but also sold en masse). Will most niche perfumes be significantly more expensive than a mass-produced designer fragrance? Yes, although there are some exceptions. But is every single niche house that artfully produces and sells in small margins BR540 level expensive? Absolutely not.
I love love my br540! Yes there are so many dupes but dossier Ambery saffron blows all of them out of the water (imo)! It’s identical to br540 but that beautiful sweetness is amped up! I tried tobacco vanille in Sephora and LOVED it. I bought a dupe for it though, and my son said,”I smell chapstick!” 😢😂 It’s funny how a perfume can smell one way to us when we’re wearing it but a complete different way to someone else. I’ll have to try amouge sunshine! Wonderful video😊
🤔Let me think...Nishane's Ani would be on my list. I love that vanilla. Blanche Bete for sure. Fire at Will by Javoy. Angel's Share by Kilian and Princess by Kilian and Leisure in Paradise by Simone Andreoli.
I’d get as many of these as I could in this order: Bdk Gris charnel Xerjoff la capital Initio side effect Floraïku I am coming home Xerjoff starlight Omanluxury royal incense Memo sintra Amouage portrayal woman Atelier des ors pink me up
I have the 200 ml spirituese double vanille, but I love vanille planifolia extrait more. I hate that it only comes on 50 ml. I will have to use it more sparingly given the price point
Nice list! I tried Amouage Sunshine and it smelled like grass on me. I would swap that one for any one of these - Tihota indult Lost cherry HOS Minnie Lira
BR 540 is timeless💕 Tom Ford is niche-like. Performance on his fragrances is bomb. Love Tobacco Vanille💕. For my list I would add BR540, Bond No. 9 New York Nights and Tribeca, Creed Virgin Island Waters. I think I went over $1K already😕
I would go for prices in euro, and what I paid for on offers when available Victoria Beckham Portofino 100ml 290 Byredo Bal D'Afrique 100ml 240 Atelier Cologne Orange sanguine - what I paid on discounter for 100ml 85 Floral Street Arizona Bloom 100ml on offer 78 Givenchy L'Interdit 80ml, discount stores 78 Chanel Eau Tendre EDT 50ml, on offer 70 7 Virutes Cherry Ambition or Kayali Lovefest Burning Cherry - whichever I find for under the price I paid for cherry ambition, 50ml 66 Byredo Mojave Ghost Hair Mist 65 Sol De Janiero Rio Radiance body mist (87) 30 Total 1002
I’m wearing sunshine today! I think it’s lovely but I definitely smell it different than you. Your nose is way more experienced than mine. I will say to anyone listening not to blind buy TF tobacco vanille! The tobacco is intense and was too much for me. Not discouraging anyone away from the scent though - people that like this seem to really love it. Just test it first.
•PDM Delina Exclusive •Thameen Peregrina •Matiere Premiere Radical Rose •MFK A LA Rose •VanCleef & Arpels Rose Rouge These are all varying types of rose but beautiful in their own way
Oh, I hate BR... I hate all its dupes too. Everyone is wearing all kind of dupes around me and it makes me puke every time I smell ambergris or ambroxan. I'm hyper sensitive to that note 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮. I don't get the hype around that perfume because there are so better ones on the market. Why so many people want that one, whyyyyyyy.... 🤮🤮🤮. I can't even eat when I smell it near me....
