You can really use whatever style you like, but the reason broadcasting tends to settle on a particular style with a certain cadence, pacing, and tone is because it's what audiences expect, it appeals to the most people, or it's the most easily understood, or some combo of all three. It really depends on your goals as a producer. The podcast Cum Town was one of the most successful comedy podcasts of all time, and it had relatively naturalistic delivery (by 3 professional comedians who know how to perform with a mic, to be fair) and some of the laziest post production. The mixing is so bad and muddy I can't understand it unless I'm wearing headphones. But the guy who started it is now a millionaire.
