Milanos must have fixed their quality control issues as I recently just bought over 700 chips and they all stack the same height. Great chip!

Just ordered a sample set of Nevada Jack, Nile Club, Milano, and Monte Carlo chips!

Got more samples! So far I got: Nevada Jack, Scroll, Nile Club, Tiki Club, Desert Palms, Milano, Pharaoh's, Dunes, NexGens, Valentino, Nevada Club, Championship Poker, Royal Crown, Pioneer Club, Monaco Club, Bluff Canyon, Showdown, Poker knights, Monte Carlo, and I got a couple Paulsons and Chipcos (big mistake lol). My favorite so far, besides the obvious Paulson/Chipcos, are the Nevada Jacks. Then probably Scroll.. I have Laurel Crowns on the way as well. Once they come in I will have to make a decision on which set to get!! D:

Yeah I mean, I'm not very interested in this type of chips either, you know, ABS chips with metal insert (as I mentioned in some of your videos)… I might make an exception on some chips, like the dice or the replicas of the movie 007 Casino Royal, but I think that clay and ceramic poker chips with no metal insert are the best. But unfortunately my country does not sell them and some production houses where they make various types of games some of which are also casino games (such as cards, roulette, dice for playing craps, green carpets with drawings of various casino games such as blackjack and others) chips of this material (clay and ceramic) does not produce them. PS, sorry for my english

The first and only time I've ever used "real" poker chips was in Erie, PA, and I have those plastic Bicycle chips at home. They made me want the ceramic/clay chips and my design choice number one would be they have to feel good whenever you play with them (idly shuffling them during play).

Amazing review, you should review everything, so concise and well delivered!

Great, hope to hear from your reviews soon. As far as I'm concerned, being a graphic designer, my number 1 is indeed design. That's why I really hate those nexgens, because they're just trying to emulate Paulsons. Materials are not a big thing for me, I don't mind metal inserts. I got a Casino Royale set, they are awesome. I didn't know there could be a thickness issue until I got a taste from Dunes Commemorative, that bothers me a little bit but not enough to change my mind. I love ceramics but I would be very careful. Certainly don't splash the pot whenever you please with those, they wear down. Anyway, a lot of rambling there, great reviews, very detailed and I found out about a lot of stuff I didn't know. Thanks!

The reason consistent thickness is so important is because if the chips aren't consistently thick, or if they're too thick, they won't fit in standard poker trays.

Some ideas for next season's reviews: - best online poker stores - tables? Felts? - more cards, the few you threw in were cool to see. - plaques? Love those, but hard to find. - poker software (home tournament trackers) @William Kotas -- I used to love buypokerchips.com, but they've reduced their selection to nothing now. The Archetypes are really really nice but pricey. I looked at the Venerati's really close and almost got those too. But thats about all they have, they used to have much more and rotate in new offerings. They once had those Paulson Noir's which I loved except they smell like oil/rubber (got samples from them, think they are out of production, super awesome colors).

First, love your reviews. I currently use Monte Carlo chips and am very happy with them. Good design IMO, good weight and easy to read denominations and reasonably priced. I have come across a couple in 1,000 that was either missing a sticker or had mismatched denominations. I also use NexGen for my "Millionaire" poker nights, since they are one of a few that I've seen reasonably priced, that has a $100,000 chip. They are a little light-weight at 9grams but are still nice and easy to read, except maybe the $25,000 chips. As far as my fantasy perfect chip... well I like almost everything about the Monte Carlo chips, just wish they had a $25,000 & $100,000 denom., but my one pet peeve that I do have with them and goes for most others as well, is that the $500 is too dark of purple, that often gets confused with a black $100. So, I'd like to have $500 chip that has more contrast. Obviously, I'm concerned with price, I wouldn't want to spend more than .75 per chip. Easy-to-read denoms are important and I don't think we need dollar-signs on chips.

Heh, it's kinda funny hearing someone claim a chip is a "little light-weight at 9 grams" given that's the weight of Paulsons.

Hey Jon, thx a lot for all your videos, they helped me a lot, and now i got the next gen u reviewed ;) My list for the PERFECT poker chip is: First I want to say that I prefer clay before ceramic (the only ceramic I would consider is the Tiki, but this chip is very expensive) 1) Inlays+design+colors (I want a variety of inlays not just round + I love bright and good colors) 2) Quality Control/Material (meaning the edges must be perfect like you show in the end of this video, I don’t care if 1 or 2 chips are not ok, as long as I buy 1100 or more :D so for me the edges are quality control but not the 1 or 2 chips which are not 100%) 3) Price (the Top Hat an Cane are already at the top of the limit … maybe even above) 4) Weight ( I also don’t like the heavy chips, normal 10g chips should be fine) 5) Transparency (is nice to know but I do not care much about it) So let summarize: I would love to buy a chip like the top hat and cane, because: -Top quality (edges, marks etc.) -Top colors and also inlays not just round (very good design!) -I don’t care so much if one or two chips are not ok… -The price would be perfect below 1$, but for this quality it will be very hard to find Again thx so much Jon for your help, this Saturday we have our 1st poker evening at my house with the new nextgen poker chips …

hi, Im looking for the same things you are and I think I have settled on nexgen because they have smooth edges, don't get dirty like clays and should be durable..? Do u think they have lead? Lastly, how do u think they sound compared to paulsons and other clays?I actually like the desert heat but the edges are sharp... Many thanks
@Magicians1313
@Magicians1313 8 лет назад
+John E I have no idea of they have lead, but just dont eat with them to much or wash your hands more =) I like them a lot the sound is very similar, but just watch Jons videos he plays the sounds =)

+Magicians1313 thanks for your opinion =) 1) so u ended up buying the nexgens? 2) which site did u buy from and at what price? 3) what denominations and how many of each did u end up getting? I wish they had brighter colors like the paulsons!

+John E i bought from US "www.pokerchipmania.com" and i bought 300x25$ 300x100$ 150x500$ 100x1000$ 50x5k$ 25x25k$ and 25x100k$ ... because i wanted to play with friends cash game and i dont like the smal 1,2,5$ so much ... but i am no a poker pro so i think next time i would buy even more from the higher ones .... but so far im very happy with the chips ... they are really cheap comp. with other poker chips and for normal games they are really good =)

@@Magicians1313 If you can afford them, BR Pro Poker chips tick every single one of those boxes (these would be the Tiki Kings, the Nevada Jacks, the Golden Dragons, etc.).

Hobbyphilic... First: I've been watching your videos trying to get pointers on what to look for in a poker chip. I had purchased some not to far back and I was just completely discouraged with the quality of them. So thank you for your information that you provide as well as your opinions. Second: could you do a review on Claysmith Gaming "The Mint" poker chip. I got a sample but am kinda interested in what you think. Thanks a bunch!
@SergeantExtreme
@SergeantExtreme 2 года назад
"The Mint" poker chip isn't going to be any different than his thoughts on any of the other Claysmith Gaming chips. They're all made out of the same materials using the same manufacturing process at the same factory. It's just a matter of "do you like this design". The only stand out is the Milano poker chips which are made out of genuine kaolinite.

What are your thoughts (if any) on the Pioneer Club chips found at Apache? Thinking about picking up a set.
@Hobbyphilic
@Hobbyphilic 9 лет назад
Robert Poster The Pioneer Club chips look like they are made of the same materials as the Nexgen Pro Classic chips. My final thought is that they look like a very reasonable, inexpensive set. If you get them, or anyone has them, please tell us what you think. Thanks for watching.
@deathbymazda
@deathbymazda 9 лет назад
Robert Poster I got a sample. They're okay. The colors are great, but they have a plasticky feel/sound to them (they're pretty much the same as Dunes, NexGens, and the Pure Clay Desert Palms). If you're looking at the Pioneer Clubs then you might want to consider the newer Desert Palms (pure clay). You can get 1000 of them for 140$ on the Apache website. 100$ if you get the no-cash-value ones. Just a thought

+Hobbyphilic Thanks for your videos. Which chip could you recommend? Hoping to avoid any chance of lead but also want smooth edges and a genuine sound when I click the chips together. What do u think about nextgens?

I'm disappointed you called the video the perfect poker chip, just to have a ten minute teaser. Maybe keep those future teasers down to a minute. I don't know even know how to follow up on this video in the future to see the perfect chip.

Where u get the wsop chip
@SergeantExtreme
@SergeantExtreme 2 года назад
I know it's been years, but those were a special, one-time "group buy" set he ordered a while back. In other words, you can't get those now. A decent replacement for those would be the "King of the River" set by BR Pro Poker.
