The Perfect Sharpening Stone… arkansas Stones, how to select one, how do use one, and their types

I don’t have expensive stones so I’m sure other people think the stones aren’t that great. I use $20 stones and a cheap strop and I can shave my arm and pass Burrfection cutting tests…. I’m not sure what else I would be missing. Please let me know your thoughts. I don’t consider myself an aficionado of stones nor sharpening technique.

I didn’t understand you comment at first…. Yes those are from Best. I don’t use those, I bought them on Amazon because they were dirt cheap for a black Arkansas stone. From my experience Dans are higher quality. I think Dans has ownership of the better quarries in the area. I tend to use Dans Softstones but don’t have Dans for the other grades of stones.

Why? It’s brand new.
