Hmm, until the SD card slot allows event recording, this is a hard no for me. Any idea when that will be? I’m considering the Blink outside camera but really don’t want another ecosystem to monitor as I have built a Wyze smart home.
I fully understand that. I have not idea when they will be turning on the sd card support. I am not on their early access reviwer list. I am just a person how purchased the camera to see how it was and do a review. I have been using Wyze for years now and thought this could be a good replacment for my v1 outdoor camera from them. The fact that the SD card is still off is irksome.
I bought one of these and didn't realize that it won't save to the SD card. I call BS, if you want to view your event clips you have to sign up for their paid cloud service
That is talking about if the camera is X high off the ground you should have it tilted at y angle in order for the PIR sensor to work correctly. The camera needs both heat and motion to trigger.
Thank you for this review. My usage case for this camera is really for the battery backup during power loss at a remote location. I currently have a mix of Arlo and Wyze cams at the location but the Wyze cams rely on a UPS for power failure. The problem is needing to have a UPS for each Wyze camera location. I have a separate UPS to cover the internet and WiFi network at the site. Can you please confirm whether this new Battery Cam Pro can be operated continuously with the USB connected to a power supply? I assume it should given the ability to run off solar, but would like to be certain. This would allow the battery to be continuously charged eliminating the need for swaps etc. At this point I will be willing to get rid of my Arlo cams. Thanks...
Just to clarify while this camera can be topped off using an external power source like the solar option it will not run the cammer continuously. It still would "hibernate" and wait for a movement to wake it up and trigger it. If this is what you are looking for then it should perform like you are looking for.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Thank you for the clarification. No, that would not be what I want, BUT, I am guessing this limitation is temporary while the SD card is not yet enabled as all Wyze cams function that way without an SD card.
It's December 27th 2023. The SD card is enabled and working on my Wyze Battery Cam Pro. When I force the Battery Pro to record Continuously (as opposed to only when motion is detected), the Wyze application warns that it will reduce Battery life (obviously), and that I should plug the camera into continuous power. I haven't tested it yet, but this warning would imply that continuous recording to the SD Card is indeed possible on the Battery Pro with a dedicated power source.
@@itsallasimulationman Sorry that I have not cycled back to this thread with an update. The camera does allow and is rated for continuous running off AC. The second point is key as it is equally important that it can be SAFELY run like this. This was confirmed by Wyze. I now have two cameras running on continuous recording to SD while plugged in...no issues thus far. By the way, I unplugged both cameras and each ran about 26 hours of continuous recording to SD before the batteries died.
Hi I have a question . I use the v3 cams and have can plus for 10 bucks for all my cameras. I've never had to worry about sd cards but I would like longer videos when a person event happens . Can you control how long the recorded event is with a sd card installed ? I like to know where a trespasser gos not just some someone is in my back yard 12 second video .I've even had motion of people still walking in front of my cameras view and wyze stops the recording. 😑thank you .
Without a campuls subscription even with an sd card you would be limited to 12 sec. clips and 5 min. cool down period. The SD card would just let you store these locally instead of to the Wyze cloud. However, at time of testing the SD card function was not available.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews okay . No don't care about local . I remote view all my cameras and need footage wherever I may be . This all started with wyze firmware updates . I still have 3 cameras that don't record these short videos. And I can't find a way to download the older firmware on all my cameras . Considering even looking at a more expensive camera . @@jlantana104 Happy to help. Just know that even it stored on the SD card you can view them anywhere you are. It just means that the clips are saved to the camera itself and not on a computer in the Wyze cloud. If you are thinking about a different company for future cameras, I can recommend eufy, and Tapo. I have done reviews of several cameras by both companies and while not as cheap as Wyze you do get better options for not that much more money.
Get a memory sd card I use 64gb.i use v3 also with no cam plus.with 64gb sd card v3 will record minute for minute for 5 days ..u can go back for 5 days of footage..only thing that sucks is the 5 minute record time for next video recording..I also use blink with no membership..I have blink on 2 side of house and v3 on other..I over lap blink and v3 to find footage..blink will give me a time stamp with no video..I use that blink time stamp on my v3 cameras.i really dis like blink tho.blink misses tons of action in front of camera tho..u can go back during the 5 days of recording and record any time in-between the 5 days..so if u get a 128gb sd card it will record for 10days minute for minute on wize v3.. blink doesn't have night vision like wize can v3 tho...I got suckered in by cheap prices and blink outdoor systems..should have went with wize v3 with sd card..but then I got lucky the way I am able to use both blink and wize to have a system that cost nothing and works for me.cause the wize v3 gets notification aslo just 5minute gap period..plus there are loop hole to get blink for free all yr....if others know or figure it out cool..I ain't saying...lol
This thing IS NOT A SECURITY CAMERA! Honestly under the right circumstances someone could steal your car, and all this thing will record is someone walking up to the car. It's an OK camera IF you MONITOR it. Notifications are AFTER the fact as a rule. An example would be a delivery driver dropping off a package. He will be gone before you get a notification. I have a 4 legged notification system (DOGS), so that's not a problem for me. I hang out in my basement all day. I do have windows down here, but can't see the front of the house. So I run a live view on a tablet. When my dogs go nuts I can see if it's a delivery driver or just a squirrel in the yard. I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH, THAT THIS IS NOT A SECURITY CAMERA! Using it the way that I do, I can see all of the things it misses! And it misses ALMOST EVERYTHING! I use it as an electronic window. It's keeps me from running up and down the stairs all day, if it's just a stray cat in the yard. If you want to monitor the kids playing in the yard, or something like that, it's fine. It's a nanny cam at best. I don't expect it to catch criminal activity, because it WON'T do that 95% of the time.
I would never recommed relying on just one camera for keeping a look out at your home. A battery camera like this one will all have the same "issue" in that it uses a PIR sensor, which is a heat based motion sensor. If you want 99% trigger accuracy, you would need a wired pixle-based trigger camera.
be aware that the cable that comes with the Battery Cam Pro WILL NOT work with the camera to the solar panel....it's for the Wyze Outdoor Pro.....you have to order the specific power adapter cable for the Battery Cam Pro and Solar Panel.....I ordered the bundle with camera and panel and then had to order the specific camera adapter after the fact. Doesn't make much sense to have the ability to order a bundle and then NOT GET everything you need to use it.
